OK, OK, I focus on vegetables .
There is an epidemic of a first-ever identified rather toxic E.coli strain that popped up in Hamburg and has now made some 400 people badly ill and killed up to 15 people. The figures are debatable but ball-park is correct.
It may cause hemolysis (in addition to diarrhea) and that may cause the blood pressure go high (very) and kidneys to quit. It is also resistant to some antibiotics. Etiology is unclear, badly washed vegetables have been suspected, but not confirmed.
Russia has banned vegetables from at least Germany and maybe from the whole EU. Germany and Spain are on a mud-slinging spree over the Germans originally claiming that the source is Spanish cucumbers (which it apparently is not).
