Better get the Vaseline ready, Tombstone - it won't be long now.

In fact that's doubly true, given it's nearly mid-October and getting somewhat chilly.......'it' will doubtless be very short!

Seeing as how the Big Lady is almost ready for a light test and then on we go I have a serious question. What music (other than that glorious intake resonance and roar) should she display to??

I would name several tracks by Iron Maiden.....

Well this just popped up on google which i thought seeing as the Vulcan flight might be tight on money they could create this..........
Pretty groovy stuff lol

On a serious note, i reckon once the first few flights have been done and some footage appears you could get away with this as a backing track, the words seem quite apt too

Good news is that the taxying trials seem to be going well!

If nobody's suggested this for Tombstone... which someone probably has... but given that it has a political/cultural connection with the jet's design mission...

Maybe this one would be quite apt for Tombstone (although the lyrics may need to be amended a little to refer to another area of his anatomy);

Question

Hi. Hoping this is not too far off topic.

As a boy in the early 70's, i lived in Leeds (Garforth to be precise). Nearly every day we would have a Vulcan fly overhead at low level, some days this would happen twice. They always flew south directy over the same house to within 200 yards or so.
I've always been curious as to the where they were going, where they had been, which base, and sqn.
Can anyone out there shed any light on this.

Thanks in advance.

Devil

One Vulcan encounter I will never forget was while flying an air taxi Aztec from EGSF up to Newcastle. Approaching Blue 1 at FL045 I was taking a RAS from Finningley. Suddenly there was a frantic and unintelligable call from the controller while at the same time a Vulcan popped through the undercast like a rocket heading for orbit about 300 metres in front of my aircraft and vanished into the overcast above me. The wake turbulence certainly made my passengers jump. When I asked Finningley what the **** had happened the controller abjectly apologised and explained that the Vulcan had just had a multiple low level bird strike giving rise to a vertical abort. These things happen so since there was no damage apart from to my passengers linen I let it go at that.

Another was at a Great Warbirds display at Wroughton when I was taxiing out in a Tiger Moth prior to my crazy flying slot on the grass parallel to the runway. This was during the previous performance by the tin triangle of VDF. The Vulcan did its usual slowish run downwind and then rotated into a full power climb just about level with me and with some 50 metres of lateral separation. I could guess what would happen so just hung on tight as the aircraft rocked onto each wingtip in turn. No damage done so straight into my slot. I bargained on doing crazy flying......not taxiing. I think the crowd enjoyed both items, I certainly did too.

Cheers,

Reaper 69

Not sure..................

It went out over 1 hour ago

There are still some folk moving around in the hangar.....if it was the first flight, I somehow think EVERYONE would be outside watching???

Unless anyone knows better?

This afternoon the TVOC website format has changed. Now black and orange !!

Currently I can't access the Vulcams.....assume it's back in the hangar after more taxi trials?

Fake Sealion, if you hover the mouse pointer over 'Multi-Media' on the top bar you will see three links appear the RH one is the one your looking for, and she is back in the hangar.

The cams were down earlier and couldn't be accessed which may be what he meant.

Apparently a fast taxi didn't happen due to the weather today - let's hope that forecast holds true.
