I wouldn't worry too much Cater; unless there's an unforseen disaster the Vulcan will be the most over-seen and over-photographed aircraft in the UK by the end of the summer - it's almost reached that status in a couple of days already!
Nice photos though Nick, especially with the VC10 - very difficult to come-up with an angle on 558 that hasn't been seen before so the formation shot is a gem!

Good display at Cosford today - seemed a bit shorter than the ones of old (5 or 6 passes) - relatively low engine powers - last pass was the only real alarm setter-offer (am more than happy for that if it reduces strains on the engines which keeps it flying longer!), but take nothing away from it. It is a unique piece of flying history which in my mind is unequalled. The pure shape, power and the reverance it draws from each crowd that sees is it unmatched. Truly an honour to see it flying again. Well done to everyone over at Brunty for their hard work!!!!!!!

Now I know this thread exists I guess I also know mine is rightfully in line to be merged with it, but until then, a link:

I still can't believe that I've seen it!

XV105, XH558 and XM665 - I worked on all of them and most of their sister ships. Flew out to Changi on 105 in '69 in fact (I remember the tail number 'cos 105 was my Entry number in Brats). I find it amazing that two of the Vulcans and a few of the VC10s are still able to move under their own steam. (PA474 too - and I worked on that as well before it went to the BBMF!) Yet I've seen B757s that I watched being built on the Renton production line being flown off to the scrapyard at the end of their useful life. Ain't aviation a strange world?

Great to see her flying again
just been reading the 2007/08 accounts.
another good year for the trust with nearly half a million surplus generated again.
Net asset value ( Unrestricted funds) now stands at 2.6 million, very nice.
interesting to see the VTSE made yet another loss of £24K.
VTSE turnover up by £79K but admin costs go up by £69K.
doesn't seem much point in selling merchandise if it costs the trust £24K every year to do so.
interesting reading all the same.

I was at Biggin today (Sunday) but unfortunately, '558 did not appear as she had gone tech. Does anyone know what the problem was?
Without wishing to appear controversial, she will have to remain reliable if she is going to make it a success on the display circuit. Biggin was so packed today that they closed the car parks, and when the annoucement was made, several thousand people left immediately. Not good for the image.
People will only be patient for a short while and then good will will and interest will start to decline.

BBMF Lancaster, Sea Vixen, One of the Gnat pair , P-51 Mustang. Oh, and the Flying Fortress 'Sally B' which has been plagued with engine problems all last season and this.
Aeroplanes break, FACT!
If people go to an airshow for ONE aircraft, then more fool them.

Hurn.
You have missed the point and I do hope that VTS don't miss the trick as well. Many of the public do not know a Sea Vixen from a Vampire or a Mustang from Spitfire. Many of them do know that there is only one Vulcan that flies. Why? Because it is big and noisy and for no other reasons than that! I was at Biggin today and when it was announced that the Vulcan would not be appearing, there was a notable number of spectators who left. Not 'well more fool them' it is a fact! Please do not patronise the paying public is such a way because without their patronage there would not be a future for any of the aircraft on the airshow circuit and not just the precious Vulcan. The majority of the airshow revenue does not come from purists who can identify the ins and outs of the specification/history and performance of an aircraft. The majority of the revenue comes from people who may know a little bit about aircraft, may have made Airfix models when they were kids, seen the movies and enjoy a good day out. They are the ones who keep the airshows alive and not the purists who are most definitle the minority

Hey guys
I was at Biggin today
Pretty let down about 558 ( but almost more about the Lanc, though it was great to hear the ground engine run )
But still, what a great show.
My big highlight was (bit obvious) Miss Demeanour.
That Aeroplane is gods gift to aviation.
