pledge returns

I too will send mine next week when I get paid. I will also put a comment on trust website and include your reply.
I think its also got something to do with hard copy papertrail for gift aid purposes.
Having read mine it asks to sign form (para 2) declaration.

I was intending to fill in my card details and fax the form back to them. But the form asks for card details and security code and elsewhere asks for a signature......

No way, José! I wouldn't want that falling into the wrong hands by mistake.

So I blew the dust of my cheque book, filled the fountain pen and sent my servant to post it.

How quaint - but they will get the dosh!

New Message from VTST

From the VTST homepage...

Vulcan Programme Update
March 24th 2009

Now that cash is being received by the Trust from the redemption of supporters' pledges - for which very many thanks once again - the VTST management team met with directors of Marshall Aerospace earlier this week to finalise plans for XH558's "Winter Service", which is required to be completed prior to the renewal of her Permit to Fly on 3rd July.

Given the financial uncertainties that dogged the Trust up until the stunning success of the pledge campaign, we felt unable to ask supporting companies to commit resources to the Vulcan programme. However VTST is now able make new financial commitments: activities for the Winter Service are moving ahead strongly. I am able to let you know that the current plan is for on-aircraft work for the Winter Service to commence by 20th April. The Service is projected to last 6 weeks, and will culminate in a test flight. Including a two week period for aircrew work-up, XH558's first public display appearance is proposed to be at the RAF Cosford airshow on 14th June.

Unfortunately, as the result VTST has to announce with much regret that XH558 will not be appearing at any of the earlier airshows this year, for example the Duxford "Best of British" Spring Airshow on 17th May, or the Southend airshow the following weekend.

As regards the plans for the May Supporters' Weekend at Duxford, we have received strong feedback that the majority of supporters would rather have an opportunity to see XH558 on the ground close up, together with her support team, as well as in the air, which would not have been possible at Duxford even if the aircraft was flying, because we cannot land there. In conjunction with Committee of the Vulcan to the Sky Club, we are trying to find the best way to achieve the goal of holding a Supporters' Event as soon as possible at affordable cost.

It was weather that caused the majority of the failed appearences last year, infact 558 had a high level of servicability for its first season. bear in mind that last season was her first after the restoration and many snags etc were to be expected.

Looks like my comment was deleted. Somebody here clearly does not tolerate any criticism of the entire shambolic Vulcan Farrago.

Lovely as it is to have the continual unfulfilled promise of the Vulcan displays we remember from our youth dangled over us, along with an ever grasping outstretched hand, I can't help but wonder how many actual, flying, turn-up-to-all-the-airshows and do full-on air-displays-rather-than-stately-appearances aircraft of equal or greater significance could have been funded with even half what the Vulcan project has consumed. What it is now delivering isn't what we (I) paid for, and it is still hoovering up money, and still failing to meet reasonable expectations.

Not many probably, as it's simply impossible to say that the money given to 558 has been at the expense of other projects. If i hadn't of given my considerable amount of time and money to 558 no other project would have got it.

The reasons for the "stately" display have been given at least 98475938475 times before but il give it again, last season was the first display season and they took it easy as you would expect them to, this years is expected to be a bit more friskey but the limits on the aircraft and engines mean that the future displays wont be like the old ones.

558 achieved a servicability rate of over 80% last year and contary to populer belief the majority of no shows were down to the weather, either it was pants at the venue or poor conditions prevented her getting to the venue, i suggest a e-mail or letter to God would be the way forward on that one.

Its laughable the way some people think that the money that's been spent on the Vulcan would have magically been spent on other projects and we'd have an array of old aircraft flying around.

It just wouldn't have happened. There's no way the majority of the public would have given to any other aviation project imo.

With the issues of servicability, well she's not run by the RAF anymore. She's under a civil license now and the rules and regs have to be followed.
Sadly that means Marshalls have to sign off a lot of the work, and as we found last year, if they're not available, then she stays on the ground.

All we can hope for is better weather and keeping her as servicable as possible in 2009.

As for me, I'm just chuffed the Yanks haven't got her, and we'll see a Vulcan gracing the UK skies again this year!.

Somebody here does not like continuous unecessary snide cynical comments - that it why it was deleted.

Its time for this story to be left alone without the digs and sniping. It is clear that some people are only too happy to carry on attacking the project. It is now boring!

It is clear that 558 will display and it is not for anyone here to decide where that will be or how it is conducted.

All the sniping has been done and repeats will not, and have not, achieved anything.

We all must be positive.

Remember it is the general publics generosity that has saved the project. Nearly 10,000 to be precise.
Can we now go forward and not keep carping about what should have been, it does no good at all. We the staunch supporters and more knowledgable members of the aviation world, need to remember that the public read these forums and draw their own conclusions based upon the comments and points raised.
Excessive adverse publicity can only damage the longterm viability of the thing we all want to see most...............XH558 in the air,.
Enthralling the audiences whereever she displays and encouraging our future generations to become engineers, designers and all the other skills we as a country need to take us out of the recession and give them a role model for the future of their children that is based not around failure; Around SUCCESS and the dynamics that this engenders.
Can we assist the team at Bruntingthorpe in this task by giving them all our support and ensuring that their morale is not diminished by "management bashing" please.
[yes there will be snags but they can be overcome].
I personally am counting the days 'til she flys again, I am sure so are the many. To Quote Robert in the latest issue of FlyPast: "Never has one aircraft owed so much to so many".

I quite agree when we were designing the form, said ask for cheques only also I believe we would have to pay somewhere in the region of 2.5% credit card fees, but I could be wrong.

Absolutely agree and so I sent my contribution via PayPal. Almost instantaneous transfer. Reasonably secure. And so easy to send money between countries.

Me and my big mouth! I see they still haven't collected the pledge! They have been emailed with details from March 23rd. Still no answer.

A new update from Bob P has gone up in on the VTTS website: Template Sample # 1

Glad to see the regular updates now.

Vulcan Programme Update 17th April 2009
Friday, April 17, 2009 - Robert Pleming

Vulcan Programme Update 17th April 2009
Thanks to everyone’s fantastic support, funds have flowed in over the past three weeks as pledges are honoured. To date, we have received nearly 5,000 of the 10,000+ pledges.
Given that people’s circumstances may have changed since the ’09 Pledge scheme started in December, we must expect that some may not be able to honour their pledges. Hence I would ask all those who have yet to send us their pledge donation please to do so as soon as possible. Just return your letter with whatever you can afford – irrespective of what you might have promised. Once again, it is the many many smaller donations that continue to fund XH558’s future.
Following a successful Anti-Deterioration engine run on Wednesday, we are starting the full Winter Service proper on Monday, and as I write, no immediate areas of concern are expected. Of major note with regard to engineering, is that we are planning to contract a dedicated Marshall Aerospace certifying technician to be part of our team throughout the Airshow season. This will ensure any minor technical problems that arise can be dealt with speedily.
Discussions for Air Show bookings have started and are continuing in a very positive manner. Just as soon as we can confirm items on the flying programme, we will update the Flight Operations page of the website accordingly.
From now on, we intend to have a website homepage update every Friday - bringing you the latest news within the project and giving you an insight into the Operational, Commercial and Educational aspects involved as we head through an exciting 2009.
We are all looking forward to an exciting and inspiring 2009!
