Which Aerodrome?
I think they are markings for a fire extinguisher and fire axe perhaps ?
Here's a clearer example

Thanks for replying but I was referring to the what appears to be three quavers (?) painted on the very tip of the nose between the squadron crest and the bomb aimer's window.

Thanks Warmtoast. 21 Sqd. Scampton Canberras had a pair of crossed keys on the nose, which later migrated to the tip-tanks. 10 Sqd. had red "Speedbirds" on the nose. 18 Sqd. had blue "Speedbirds" on the nose. 27 Sqd. had a red cheat line the full length of the fuselage, no indication what they had on the nose.

It is the old Uluru (Ayers Rock) Airport.
Still visible on Google Earth.
Looks like chevron was under the wire a minute ahead of PPRune Radar.
chevron has control.

Chevvron has it. It's North Weald with Vampire 3's.
The then Post Office Overseas Service Radio Telephone masts in the background are the give-away - are they still there?
I was posted to North Weald (for MSOC at nearby Kelvedon Hatch in October 1953).
Not sure which squadron aircraft are shown, but possibly 601 which operated Vampires at North Weald in the late 1940's - early 1950's.
Over to you Chevvron.
