You should have watched the 8:20 slot on Breakfast News - someone had obviously got at the Cameraman (or he's an enthusiast too) - there was a nice 'two shot' of the reporter and the phone number in the hangar. During the interview with Dave Thomas and Dr Pleming he kept sneaking the camera up to get the number in the top of the frame. However the link from the BBC website could be a bit more prominent - still beggars can't be choosers!

Evidently I don't have the approval of the likes of Whitworth and Brickhistory to say anything so I'll leave them to continue the thread - I'm sure they'll be fascinating. Enjoy

Kate Simms the reporter took with her an engineer who worked on the Vulcans at Woodford.
That was actually Bob Pogson, the AVRO AEO who bailed out of XA891, an early Vulcan B1 in 1959 and developed the Blue Steel for the Vulcan, also carrying out the development and introduction of the B2.

The second shots in the hangar were actually swiftly changed due to the wonderful power of the internet and Pprune.

It wasn't noticed the phone number was out of shot, until the complaints were posted thus allowing immediate remedial action to be taken

It worked well though, the phones have been ringing themselves off the hook all day today

Dear sir,

I commend you greatly on stirring the Vulcan pot and getting people talking, and most importantly, doing something about the impending 'fish or cut bait' scenario regarding the Vulcan.

My only point regarding you was your habit to attack/ridicule/judge those who dared disagree with you or the project and not be able to take it when fire was lobbed back. I didn't disagree with you regarding the project, I had issue with you seeming to assume the 'overlord' mantle for the thread.

And if you have need of my or anyone else's approval, then, sir, may I suggest that you 'Cowboy up' and work on skin thickness. This is, after all, a Military Aircrew forum. A minimum grade of elephant hide is recommended to enter.

Bailing out because people disagree with your self-righteous pontificating... I admire your debating style !

To digress very slightly, what was Bruce Dickinson (and possibly other Iron Maiden people) up to with the Southend Vulcan recently?

http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=61531

Wonder if he saw the news coverage yesterday?

Bruce likes Vulcans! FI was sniffing around him last year. However he fully aware of the current situation of 558 and is in contact with Dr Pleming.
Nick Mason - of Pink Floyd also.

Poor old XH558 is still causing controversy here...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbpointsofv...thread=3390744
...or at least the posting of a link to the VTTS site is.
Well done to the posters trying to keep this in the public eye though!

Pledges now stand at £420,352.94 !!

What happened to the offer from that PPRuNer to sing a song butt-naked with a daffodil up his chuff in the Marham crewroom if the project succeeded? He seems to have deleted his posts.....

Chook chook chook!

Sitrep sitrep, go!

After our success with the Beeb on 23 Aug - and I say, one more time, you could not pay for that sort of publicity, across a major tv station for about two thirds of a day - I’m glad to report that Sky News is planning to spend much of Bank Holiday Monday at Brunters doing something not dissimilar. Usual caveat applies - if there’s a big big story, they might pull out. But the omens look good. And if you happen to be able to watch it, I’m sure Sky will be delighted to receive your feedback.... First broadcast probably 1000hrs on.

Also, our open letter, over Ken Ellis’ signature (Editor Flypast) to The UK Aerospace Industry, inviting them to get their wallets out, either collectively or singly, should appear in Flight International, which is due out on Tuesday 29 Aug.

ps Beags, if the guy with the daffodil could appear at Brunters on Mon, I'm sure that would go down well.....

Ah yes, you're right!

Tombstone 7 Aug 2006:
"I will walk around every into each Sqn crewroom at Marham, naked with a rose between my arse cheeks, singing a song of your choice if the Vulcan ever flies again."

andrewmcharlton 7 Aug 2006:
"I will join my illustrious fellow poster in singing around the peri track naked if it flies."

Start practising your singing, chaps!

Perhaps the event could be filmed and added to the GW1 dvd to raise more funds for good causes

Now we just need to raise some sponsorship for the event and get the PR sorted so everyone knows about it

I wholeheartedly agree and if the services of a videographer are required I can point you in the right direction!

You now also have a photographer that is "Sympathetic" in such delicate matters... Well, that is what it says in the brochure, though I wouldn't count on it...

Tombstone is probably a little shy,

I've heard a rumour all GR4 mates have got little willies.

Tombstone and andrewmcharlton..........

If the inevitable 'song and flower' festival soon to be held chez vous is conducted with taste (?) it would make a darn good theme for next year's calendar - possibly securing more funds for the Vulcan.

BTW did the 'naked calendar' theme from a couple of years' ago featuring a Sqn Boss et al land them in the mire or was it regarded as brilliantly original, slightly risque but forgiveable?

We all thought it was great!!

Well done Beags you're a bally hero........
