Typical , ask AIPA they will confirm it as they did to a fellow pilot last Friday. I also know one of them , but as I said earlier you blokes know everything.

Out of curiosity dragon, did these pilots have 737 training positions allocated to them that have been postponed? Also, does the age 65 rule apply to SO’s?

Why sad? They are effectively in retirement, can access their Super and have the added benefit of accruing leave without having to expend any effort whilst stood-down. There's not that many favourable (if you can call it that) outcomes for anyone in being stood-down but this may be one. They are not displacing anyone from a position whilst the fleets they operate are parked at Victorville or Mojave and there is no training happening or likely to happen for some time on other fleets. Seems like a lucky position to be in if all else is stalled.

There appear to be 5 or 6 longhaul pilots over 65 that are still on the most recent seniority list - not sure if they've subsequently retired or not - but all except 1*, have turned 65 since being stood-down. About another 8 or 10 turn 65 in the next 6 months.

* He may have been on longterm sick leave when this all started - vague recollection but not certain.

No, I'm fairly certain they didn't have 737 training slots and yes it does apply to S/O's.

Well it’s Not Not Sad

Company debt levels are greater than VA’s before their administration. If you include all ongoing liabilities including staff entitlements, that figure is surely north of 10 billion. With no short to medium term revenue to service this debt, another financial lever will need to be pulled or government bailout will be required very shortly. If that is not forthcoming everyone’s job and conditions are at risk. The vaccine will not arrive in time.

Can I ask that when people dial into the Webinars that they stop thanking the people (RT AS DA PD etc etc) for their hard work and time. These people are being paid. This is their job. The rest of us are losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in pay. They are being paid to do their job as managers. Stop thanking them. Then TLSP thanks them. For goodness sakes they’re not the ones who should be thanked, they’re still being paid. Thank all of us for our patience, the fact that getting zero from Qantas whilst other airlines around the world are paying their employees something.

They are not the hero’s we are. Maybe we should rotate the managers so everyone gets a go and gets paid.

And stop giving them ideas! What the hell is wrong with people?! Their problem is bigger than ours, let them solve it.

100% agree

Xeptu 13th Aug 2020 10:36

And like all company managers are briefed with what they can tell you and what they can't. You'll recognise what they can't tell you when they handball the question to someone else that needs to check on that and will advise.
When push comes to shove they will follow the company line before yours.
Everything they tell you is predicated on a draft plan formulated at least 3 weeks ago.
When these individuals stop turning up or are replaced by someone you don't know, you can be sure the plan has gone pear shaped and bad news is coming.

This!

”I’ve had a good look through the relevant paperwork, and found this clause tucked away which might let you really screw us over. Do you think you might be interested in doing that?”

Propaganda webinars

The Webinars are nothing but IR conditioning sessions for the scared, vulnerable and easily manipulated.
Qantas were the first employer in the country to stand you down. You get a salary of zero. Plenty of global airlines getting paid more than 0. If they could sack you all for a dollar less they would. variations to agreements will just make it easier and cheaper.
Tino and Alan are back at work earning very good money. Your getting zero.
They have and continue to not give a f$&# about you.
Sadly pilots are dumb enough to agree to variations that will be nothing but detrimental to them. Astonished at the morons calling in offering ways to f#$& themselves over and thanking Tino for screwing them.

Of course they will want as many as possible to take LWOP it's a better option for the company but not really an option for you personally.
When push comes to shove and they have no choice, CR is all that's left and seniority will play no part in it. Being junior won't automatically mean being redundant.

This is complete hysterical bull**** and lies. You have no understanding of the contract. It’s quite frankly Embarrassing. Your scaremongering with 0 factual knowledge.

It warms my ageing old heart to see nothing has changed. Brings back so many frustrating memories. It took me decades to realise 1 in 10 people are morons, their in every Industry you know, how the f#@k does that happen in those Industries where you would think they wouldn't be.

Yeah look I understand you're emotionally invested and hanging on to that EBA like it's the ten commandments. I take it this is your first time going through this.

Bang on, well said. I haven’t dialled in for a long time, there’s no new news, no good news, and nothing worth listening to, so I’ll spend the time being more productive working my ****ty casual job and/or continuing the hunt for a better one.

If people stopped dialling in, they could stand some of the corridor crawlers down and save a few SO jobs perhaps, instead of scaring them into LWOP.
