The same will happen to Oz once the 3 year bonuses are paid out :ok:

Also heard that an ex Tiger employee is now with CASA and part of the team holding the magnifying glass :D

PPRuNeUser0161 15th Jul 2010 11:10

Any more on the EBA?

hongkongfooey 16th Jul 2010 09:10

Not saying that Oz dosn't have it problems at the moment which could be debated as worse.
Don't tell me they are running out of blue shirters to employ  Does this mean they will have to revert to hiring mere mortals

THRidle 16th Jul 2010 10:31

Last I heard, As long as you don't need a walking frame ( most of the time )

You're in !!

SAO IO SPO 26th Jul 2010 02:58

Heard from good intel that company may not be expanding in Aus as fast this year as previously indicated?

Tiger is struggling in more than one way at the moment. Don't beleive the rumours that they are making money

Yes I understand that most of the new planes will go to Tiger Thai -word is that Tiger has reached an agreement with Thai Airways and will establish a base in Thailand. Press conference tommorow morning.

scorcher 3rd Aug 2010 00:20

hongkongfooey,
Seems they won't be employing anyone for a while, if ever.
Heard that CASA have stopped them in their tracks and won't let them get anymore aircraft in Oz for the foreseeable future. Apparently engineering is an issue amongst others. The same thing has happened in Singapore.
If CASA let them start the Avalon base in November, as advertised, Tiger will have to take an existing aircraft from Adelaide and one from Tullamarine to make it happen.
What happens to the crews in Adelaide and Melbourne? Are they going to be forced to move because surely Tiger won't pay for crew to be sitting around.
As we all know there is always a bigger picture and we are unlikely to be allowed to see it.
However, even the blind, deaf and dumb must be wondering what the hell is going on in Tiger Central.
What was once an attractive option appears to have focused on becoming another Australian statistic.
:(

Tiger really knows how to win friends and influence people.

Splendour in the Grass fans pitch tents at airport as Tiger Airways schedule change leaves them stranded | Courier Mail

Many of the passengers have reportedly turned Brisbane Airport into a makeshift campsite, erecting tents they used at the popular music festival.

Tiger Airways could not be reached for comment overnight

SN

scorcher 4th Aug 2010 02:00

SN,
Info from Tiger people. Apparently its widely known in the ranks.
As for the media, God only knows how that dark force works.

Bloody Blind Bat 5th Aug 2010 03:59

SQ starting to sit up?

I might be reading too much into it, but Tiger just appointed a few days ago 2 directors who have posts in SQ and the new CP in Singapore is rumoured to be SQ as well.

I'd be sitting up too if I owned 49% of the gig.

Saw a Strategic 320 operating where the usual is Tiger the other night - any idea why?

scorcher 6th Aug 2010 11:08

Bit hard for anyone to answer if they don't know where?

hongkongfooey 9th Aug 2010 02:18

Any suckers, oops, I mean pilots taken the " command in SIN for 2 years deal " ?
Just remember to ask what happens if there are no command positions in Oz when your 2 years are up.
Maybe Tiger being the generous employer that they are will just absorb the extra skippers back into Oz :hmm:

SAO IO SPO 9th Aug 2010 02:43

understand it's no longer on table as they filled slots from indonesia

Bravo Papa 9th Aug 2010 04:32

Oh yeh you'd have to be a real sucker to take a significant pay-rise from being an F/O here to a skipper in Singapore, paying much less tax, enjoying your days off anywhere on the Tiger network for cheap (beaches in Phuket, markets in Bangkok, Vietnam, China, India) getting some International flying experience and breaking the monotony of flying Sydney and Gold Coast runs day in, day out...

Pilot's who have taken commands in Adelaide have not had problems getting back to Melbourne when space has become available and have always had precedence over someone new being employed.

Might not be everyone's idea of a good experience but i don't know why you would have to be a "Sucker" to take up the offer! :ugh:

A. Le Rhone 9th Aug 2010 05:28

Does the fact that so many have looked at Tiger and not bothered or bothered and have left answer your question?

Perhaps 'suckers' is too strong a term but may I humbly suggest Tiger need to treat their staff a whole lot better if they are to attract and retain them. There will always be a few people who are attracted by false sparkles but in the upcoming/eventuating crisis of too many aircraft & not enough experienced pilots, Tiger will have to ground flights unless it looks after staff waaaaay better.

Unfortunately, the labor government recently changed the tax laws. This means (for most people who go on temporary/short term) if you pay less tax overseas, you will then have the pay additional tax to Australia. Therefore you will be paying the same tax as in Australia.
