Yes, BUT the CAA in Singapore don't like FAA licences. Pilots with FAA certificates have been employed before in Singapore, however you will have an uphill run converting it compared to someone with a JAA licence.

Co have offered FO's $108,301K, not sure if they have increased offer to captains. The Co is still banging on about the flexi roster. Anyone know what they are after here?

Well I’ll break it down for you:

1. If we need you to work a day off – you’ll do it.
2. If we need you to extend a tour of duty – you’ll do it.
3. If we need to recall you from leave – you’ll do it.
4. If we need to change your existing roster so you can’t get to your child’s 6th birthday party, the dinner organised for your wedding anniversary, your best friend’s wedding etc,. Etc,. – you’ll do it (AND with a smile for this one!)

With a rigid 5/2/5/4 pattern it may not be possible to cover the flying program without employing additional pilots and flying everybody a bit less ie you won't do, and get paid for max hours. Company has the costs of additional staff.

If pilots could volunteer to work on their off days and get paid extra for it everybody wins. Those who want more money get it, those who prefer the time off can have that and the company save on additional staff. :)

Maybe the F/O's lose out as there are 10% less commands required with Captains working on their days off.

As stated, the losers are the F/O's WRT this.

I'd like to bypass the check in queue if I could. When travelling low cost, fewer counters are open for less time resulting in a wait while the whole flight checks in together en masse, instead of spread out over a longer time with more counters.

Be a savvy traveler and SHOP AROUND. You may find a full service airline is actually cheaper for what you want to do, especially if they have a special deal on the route or you have a family and need lots of luggage and meals.

If you're on your own, flexible with timing, only carry hand luggage and pack your own lunch the savings can be considerable. Travel search engines are your friend here.

And just as it has done at the other airlines who charge for bags, cabin crew cop it in the neck. I don't have a problem with getting charged for bags, I have a problem with people attempting to bring on bags that should for weight and size be checked bags. Test them all before they pass check in. Don't make the cabin crew into the bad guys for refusing obviously oversize and weight bags being brought on board. It's a joke these days, the limits are there for a reason.

Ah yes, reminds me of one of the best industrial campaigns I was ever a victim of.
The TAA (yes, it was a long time ago - maybe Adelaide about 1982?) cabin crew were having some kind of ding-dong with management, so they decided to "enforce safety regulations":E
"No, of course we're not taking industrial action, that would be illegal. No, no, we're just making sure our high safety standards are maintained" :E:E
But, every single carry-on bag was being weighed and measured against the frame thingy. "sorry, sir, too big / heavy, we'll just pop it in the hold for you" "sorry madam, only one piece of carry-on plus your hand-bag, which ones would you like us to put down in the hold"
Absolute chaos at the gate, flight delayed massively, etc.
IIRC, TAA gave in within a week

Heard that they are losing up to half of their SIN Captains.
Down in Oz rumour has it that CASA has a magnifying glass out and that folks at the top don't understand why crew aren't attracted to work for :bored:them.
