The EBA goes to vote tomorrow (2nd March), wonder which way it'll go?

EBA time

Compared to the previous and those failed at negotiations, whats the differences in this newly proposed one?

Darwinism 4th Mar 2011 22:07

Not "proposed" anymore - voted for and accepted is my understanding.

chasingthetail 5th Mar 2011 02:37

Hi guys I had my interview with Tiger earlier this year and I am in the active hold pool just wondering when if anyone knows if there will be any movement soon now the EBA has been agreed on and last question i have not got the A320 rating yet should I get it now or wait for the call up?

Cheers in advance

Tailchaser

Tailchaser,

DO NOT LEAVE your present job or do a TR till you know you've got a start date or know you're ahead in the 'pool'.
Expansion has ceased in OZ for Tiger and Singas will be taking delivery of the 2 airframes originally bound for OZ.
I believe any employment for FOs in Tiger is due to attrition to Strategic, Jetstar, Emirates etc....definitely not growth. There is huge expansion in Asia and they need planes...and more planes!

spin_doctor 14th Mar 2011 15:55

OK, so excuse my lack of knowledge but are the majority of posts on here related to the Singapore based airline or the Australian branch? Considering Tiger (Singapore) as a way of moving out east, but lots of the posts here starting to ring alarm bells.

For info currently European based A320 Capt with over 6000 hrs total time.

Any real experience/info gratefully received.

Mr. Hat 21st Mar 2011 09:34

Most posts are about the Australian branch.

Tutaewera 28th Mar 2011 04:02

KB?

I believe KB is still there, and holding the pilots together.
Albeit no doubt under a fair bit of stress... :ugh:

PoppaJo 7th Apr 2011 21:32

Anyone confirm VNB is getting an engine change? Been u/s all week.

wheels_down 8th Apr 2011 09:27

I think VNQ and VNR are coming over the next week. Should provide some relief for the guys in Operations. Certainly has been a while since TT took delivery of a new aircraft direct from Airbus, with the last few Singapore conversions that are constantly out of order.

Last I heard is VNB's lease is not far off ending, and another newbie will replace it. That frame will not be missed. Negative to engine change.

PoppaJo 14th Apr 2011 07:41

VNQ and VNR certainly do not appear to be coming.

Surprise Surprise...:ugh:

heffy_inc 14th Apr 2011 11:48

Anyone know what broke this time? TT flight from last night went Tech and left CBR around noon today?

VBPCGUY 14th Apr 2011 12:46

Someone got an Aerocare movement sheet somehow for today and they had cancelled MEL-MCY-MEL, MEL-ADL-MEL and a MEL-SYD-MEL so that may have something to do with this u/s aircraft, their loads look quite healthy though nothing under 120 pax on any of the flights.

Sunstar320 14th Apr 2011 21:45

VNQ has already become 9V-TAV.

VNB was already out of service so it didn't help having another offline. The MCY flight goes onto SYD after, so thats 6am-5pm period that can be freed up.

Safety fears may ground Tiger Airways following Civil Aviation Safety Authority show cause | News.com.au

Safety fears may ground Tiger Airways following Civil Aviation Safety Authority show cause

BUDGET airline Tiger Airways is at risk of being grounded by the aviation regulator following a spate of safety and maintenance breaches. In a blow for the struggling airline industry, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority has issued Tiger with a "show cause" notice.
It is the most serious action taken by CASA against a major Australian airline since Ansett was hit with a similar warning in 2001 just months before it went bankrupt.
The revelation of the notice issued on March 23 comes as Tiger and other major airlines brace for one of their busiest flying periods.
The Courier-Mail can reveal CASA has written to Tiger's Melbourne-based management raising concerns it was not following proper procedures to ensure utmost safety of passengers.
The regulator wants urgent answers amid concerns pilot training standards have slipped and short-cuts have been taken on maintenance and other operations.

It's all happening this week.

Gordstar 20th Apr 2011 15:14

120 pax

that just proves there are at least 120 stupid people at each airport!

Sunstar320 20th Apr 2011 20:52

Cant see this going down to well internally, especially when it has made the front page of the Herald Sun this morning.

CASA also not letting any more frames in the country at the moment, two up in Singapore awaiting clearance.

Tony is too focused on the bottom line, never giving Australia what they want, people leave they are not replaced so then departments are left empty and this is the result.

VNB issues have now been rectified which will make CASA happy on one scale. Tiger wont be grounded, dont know where the media pulled that from.

Industry?

The above is a line from the News Ltd. article. In which way is anything that kills off 'Tiger' a "blow to the industry"?

KittyBlue 21st Apr 2011 10:13

The 'show cause' was issued on march 23, expiring within 21 days. So this concerns in the notice has been dealt with as the airline is still airborne!

no discussion...... end of story

and funnily enough its Easter time..... media hype up.....

this has nothing to do with how good or bad that airline has been doing things.... could it be a little rouse for the redstar as they have been in the spotlight alot lately?

Just for you, Kitty Blue

You are seriously deluded Kitty, I am pretty sure with all QF and Jokestars problems they have not been given a show cause on pilot trg and maintenance.

Donalduck 22nd Apr 2011 12:16

Kittyblue... Virgin Blue loves Tiger! I regularly sell thousands of dollars worth of last minute fairs when they cancel their flights!
As I stated on the "other" Tiger thread just before... today for the first time I helped someone cancel a Virgin Blue fair as they refused to get on a Tiger flight thus no longer requiring a return flight claiming they weren't safe! I did try to reassure the gentleman but he was adamant... Not good for business.

ozbiggles 22nd Apr 2011 15:44

Kitty is right!!!!
There is nothing to worry about when an Australian RPT operator gets the first Show Cause in 10 years....I mean look what happened the last time an RPT airline got one.....
How is that application going for Airline PR Kitty?

ZK-EBC 24th Apr 2011 12:36

On a more positive note, the 11th aircraft arrived into Melbourne today from Toulouse.
Has been registered FJR and named 'Jack Ryan' after Declan Ryan's son

Sunstar320 24th Apr 2011 21:48

And for those who dont know, its was Declan's son that named the company "Tiger Airways".

Mr.Buzzy 25th Apr 2011 03:17

Ansett was never issued a "show cause". They had one waved in their faces but managed to smooth things over at the eleventh hour.
This is the first "Show cause" to an airline in much longer than ten years.
"safe skies for all" CASA. Make our skies safe again please!!!

"Fairs?" Does that mean a hostie is a "Fare Maiden"? Sorry...:D

Perhaps they can rename it 'Show Cause' ??

Tutaewera 25th Apr 2011 21:48

Eh?

Thats strange. Didn't Sunstar state CASA would" not be letting any more frames into the country"? :O

PoppaJo 27th May 2011 08:09

latest news is that VH-FJR is now in SIN, and 3 Avalon routes are pulled as of next week to OOL/BNE/ADL, sending that spare bus to ML.

Torqueman 27th May 2011 23:42

It can't be a good time for Tiger at the minute. I believe they are also renegotiating their engineering support contract going forward as well. I don't know what their options would be given the current scrutiny they are under.
May be it's time for them to pack up and try again somewhere else. Which is at all possible with the recent LCC announcement from Singapore.

waren9 28th May 2011 00:20

Well, they seem to be keeping JHAS in MEL pretty busy atm. Too busy to finish assigned tasks on Jetstar aircraft that are towed back on to the gate with weeklys not done ane plenty of items left open.

PPRuNeUser0161 28th May 2011 14:09

I think tiger will find it tough from here on especially if J* can lower their crew cost by way of this new group contract thingy they are on about. They have failed to establish respect for their brand as well. Strictly a LCC in the purest of forms and their passenger base may dwindle if further interest rate rises eventuate or of things tighten up further with the economy.

Not sure where they go from here.

B772 29th May 2011 04:08

Soup Nazi. From what I have read about Tiger they believe their prospects will be enhanced when interest rates increase and the economy heads further south.

PPRuNeUser0161 29th May 2011 10:52

B772
Yeah in theory thats right in fact I always said when times get tough thats when tiger will benefit. The only thing that may "put a spanner in the works" is, will the increased cost of living erode their client base, or will it expand it? The fact that they have been unable to expand when times are good tells me their client base may already be at 100%. Add to this J* reducing their crewing costs even further I'm not not sure where tiger go next.

It will be interesting for sure.

Looks like the Avalon venture has hit the wall, cutting back to 2 movements daily and 1 movement on a Saturday as of this weekend. :ok:

joblogs 1st Jun 2011 10:35

Aparrently two other aus airlines have a show cause at the moment, and the j* pool are saying no to the job because it is degrading conditions in aus. People who work in safeway make more than that with no investment. At least tiger pay the pilots.<not the best but buy far not the worst>:ok:

PoppaJo 16th Jun 2011 21:54

Is VH-VNB still in the country? I mean, its be off the scene for nearly 2 weeks now...

man there has got to be serious problems with that aircraft...
