The last flight was operated by none other than Eight John Sharp, with 40 passengers, paints the picture of the master who orchestrated this failure.
Having had the opportunity to work in this operation very briefing upon kickoff, I will say, once again as has been mentioned before, the front line teams are great people, doing great things. Whilst I strongly disagreed with the direction and strategy this operation was taking very soon on after starting, don’t take this out on the good people facing the passengers, or Qantas. This is an own goal by Sharp and LKH, they failed, opinions over time has been put forward regarding the underperforming nature of the operation, but in true Rex style as many of us know, ego blocked out any feedback.
This was one of the worst attempts at a commercial operational I have ever seen. I have never flown passenger flights in all my career at such loads, and that was three years ago. The messages I have received this week regarding the lack of passengers from crew have been highly disturbing.
In true Rex fashion. Nothing changes.

This part was also interesting:
Rex and Virgin Australia are also exploring opportunities to support regional customers, which include Virgin Australia selling Rex’s regional services through codeshare or interline arrangements, and making Velocity Frequent Flyer benefits available to Rex’s regional customers.
One has to wonder what might have been once it became apparent VA was going to successfully come out of administration, if the focus had been on a tie up through codeshare / interline and efforts were directed towards the regional network and a fleet replacement.
Maybe this will be an insight though into what a future Rex may hold if it successfully comes out of administration?

I dont think they'll be touching their old 20 year old aircraft, which were reported to be regulars visiting the hangars, but I'd tip they'll grab one of their old 15 year old aircraft and reupholster the EconomyX rows back into their EconomyX colours as well as reupholstering the J seats by removing the REX branding.

LKH has a large amount of his fortune tied to NJE. He would have moved on that somewhat should that business have joined the administration queue, well in advance.
Many parachutes have been prepared as seen recently. Nev might be keen to still lead this moving forward, his golden chute isn’t as set in stone as many think.

It might be this whole thing was to head off PAG at the pass, might be still a lot of the company salvageable outside of the Jets if people don't lose their minds in the process. In any case I hope all the crew involved take time to reflect on what they have in their lives and not what has been lost and plan for the future, there is lots of support out there for everyone.

PAG reportedly leading the charge to "overthrow" LKH and then declaring Voluntary Administration before LKH replied back with a "leadership spill" may be PAG's way of saying "pack it up", we're not funding this basketcase anymore.
JS turning on his 'one time bestie' LKH was probably the last straw for the boardroom infighting.

Im saying as part of the covid deal they should have been told to come up with a business plan for regional including the SAAB replacement plan for the long term benefit of regional aviation. If they want to pay for my time at consult rates I will find something.
For free I will chuck in cranking up the Nomad production line or brand new Australian design….if the government wants to chuck in a bucket load of their….I mean taxpayer money. (Warning, trace elements of sarcasm may be contained).
For real, I suspect it would be scrapping together ATRs and going in with other airlines to persuade companies there is a market for a new regional turbo prop in that range or at least an update.

Theres a lot of great people at Rex on the frontline, I hope you all either maintain employment on the Saab or quickly find an alternative if you're on the 73.
