Network Aviation PIA
I'm at Network & I don't normally post here but I want my aviation "colleagues" to know what its like for me. I live in constant anxiety about money & stress from Qantas. I worry every day, I don't sleep and my quality of life is non-existent. I have a small mortgage (less than 600k) and young family. My mortgage plus insurance is almost 70% of what I take home. The rest goes on food, petrol and utilities. In the last two years I have burnt through all of our savings (almost $20,000) . We have no money for anything extra, we never go out & don't drink, our life is ****, it's embarrassing. Perth & Network was supposed to be a good option, they told me all about how they were growing so fast & successful, quick command for a guy like me etc etc, all lies. I know they make a lot of money, but I ain't seeing it. We put our house on the market because we can't keep living like this. The company just threatens me, intimidates me and I work my arse off. I feel like a sucker, I still go to work but I hate it (not the people I fly with, they are great from front to back). I expect I'll be gone soon, I have a video interview for a job in the US this month. But be warned, anyone thinking about taking a job with these greedy fu**ers, do your homework, their GM is a fool and Qantas will not give two Shi*s about you or your family.

With reference to the threat of intractable bargaining, any union worth your fees would surely be looking into the precedent set recently in the “same job, same pay” case, after all an A320 does the same job as a 737. The commission could very well see it that way.

They are using the threat of sending over 717s as a scare tactic against NAA Pilots. If I was a 71 Pilot I’d be insulted if my management team used me as scare tactic - disgusting behaviour.

Whats the engineering support like for a 717 in the west?
An eng failure or non MELable defect at a non manned mine port should test the potential disruption they wish to minimise to the max.

Ausiflyboy: Every time someone posts something like
it lowers the tone of the thread and detracts from the sense of unity that has slowly been building between pilot groups. Statements like this are thinly veiled threats and create arguments. There will always be a few who have an ideological aversion to withholding labour no matter what threats are thrown about. Even when those threats are carried out through social ostracism over decades, people hold onto their beliefs. It’s a Human thing. The best thing we can do is to support other pilot groups and present a united front. Threats don’t help in any way.
The names of any Pilot volunteers would immediately be leaked from that company and you wouldn’t want to be one of those people

And what exactly would you do with such a “list” Flyboy? Aren’t you potentially opening yourself up to defamation cases?
I’m all for the Network guys succeeding in their PIA, and frown upon people doing things like day off payments etc. while it’s going on, but it’s not 1989 anymore buddy. You’re simply being a bully and unrealistic. Sod off

Clearly a lot of emotion, but I’m sure you made a typo and meant to write Morno.
Lets hope all groups stick together work only when legally required and stick together.
5 years ago who would have thought the US regionals would be where they are at now with conditions? Now is the time!!!!

It is absolutely disgusting that a jet FO cannot afford to buy a basic family home in this country. What a f*cking disgrace. Why even bother with this profession!

It’s not just the pay though, I have a couple of mainline friends in QF, who, besides the reasonable pay and low personal expenses (mortgage etc)- are miserable because of the toxic culture. ie the board, corporate greed etc
I left to the USA Airlines just after the pandemic.
The conditions are reasonable (16-17 days off with seniority a mth)
We live 5 miles from base out in the country and our home cost about 285k
The culture in our company is fantastic. There’s an online group management meeting weekly if you feel like asking the CEO a question. Most the time you are replied to. Our emails from management always end in “We thank you for all you do”
Pilots are respected. You feel wanted in the company. Lots of other niceties of course.
PM me if you want to
all the best

I’m sorry to hear this. Pilots usually get the shiny jet syndrome in their early years then reality kicks in when you find yourself in your position.
