Fair chance Coulson will still be operating here, not a lot of options out there.
Of all the operators in Australia, Alliance appears to be the only one that can actually "Organise a piss up in a Brewery".

So my bet is, the beginning of Fire Season 2021, they will have whatever aircraft required and be ready to operate. Good luck to them if this is actually true and not an April Fools Joke.

The post may be a joke but its also on Fire Aviation?

Conair tried using F27 Fire Bombers in France. They were short lived so I assume they were not a great success as they then moved on to CV580s.
However if F50s are tried by Alliance or anyone else the development would not be to hard from F27 to F50 if used the Conair design?

Conair and others seem to like the BAE146 into the future. Conair are also happy with Dash 8s.

ASX website shows Alliance announcement that CASA has given regulatory approval to operate the E190, and a revised AOC has been issued.

Fleet update

-43 Fokkers in revenue service,

-commitments for 30 E190 deliveries, with 18 paid for and 5 delivered to Australia

- the sim will be up and running by May, pilots currently being trained with Finnair in Helsinki.

No mention in the media release of the team at Aliance checking with PPRuNe experts before making decisions on fleet purchases or pilot hiring.

Are you another QF fanboy that seems to think some great injustice has taken place if anybody else is chosen over a Qantas pilot because you know, they are not Qantas!!

I just hope the right people and most deserving get the job, regardless of their background!

I have heard that there is a gentleman's agreement in place between the shot callers that precludes Alliance from taking Airnorth's Ejet pilots on account of the fact that Airnorth wouldn't be able to continue operating flights if Alliance took more than a few of their crew. Unfortunate for any Airnorth pilot's that might have wanted to take advantage of the opportunity.
I would have though at least a couple Airnorth folks would have gotten an interview, given their recent experience with E170, current type rating that covers both 170/190 with differences training and they almost all live in Darwin, but as far as I am aware none did.
The other possibility is that no Airnorth pilots applied.

If your comments on fleet type is aimed at me, then you have it wrong. I am only commenting on the NSWRFS contract that they are supposed to be receiving.

As I read the current Alliance fleet, there are no current types that are approved for fire bombing? If we accept the statement on this thread that Alliance is being approved for the NSWRFS contract, then either they have to get B737 approval or they need another type? I'm not sure an orphan B737 is is viable? I am unaware that the F50, F100 or ejets are approved for fire bombing? I suspect if they intend to get fire bombing approval on a current type then this may be a bridge to far? Anyone going on this route should look up the sad tale of Minden Air attempting to put a Bae 146 in service.

Saw Alliance's 100 Years of Airforce Embraer land in Brisbane this morning. Has anyone got some photos? Looks incredible and has my vote for the best of their growing number of special paint jobs.

QF just announced new base in Adl,5 Alliance E190's to be based there, this is just the beginning.
Joyce says 738s will be deployed on other routes!
More like as the 738s with expensive leases come up for renewal, they wont be renewed.

Haha he wishes - if it was that easy, and IF that was the plan, he would have done it years ago.

That’s not the plan.

QF will always need to have different tiers to serve the market - the premium carrier isn’t going anywhere, and the budget carriers are also here to stay.

A lot of QFs B737 are coming up to 20 years so now is the time to retire them and get something new. QF will be after as much market share as they can get so dejavu to 2001.

QF has also said that a decision on the 737/regional jet would be made soon. Given both Airbus and Boeing have no shortage of stock to move, QF are probably well placed to grab either one for a good price.

Ejets to replace the 717’s look like a bit of a favourite.

Who crews them is anyones guess. It looks like the Alliance/E190 op is the new version of how the NJS/Cobham/146/717 op has evolved over the years.

Will the 8 aircraft be crewed by alliance or stood down QF pilots ? I think QF has been ramping up there A330 and B787 operations lately so maybe only A380 and ex B747 pilots are still stood down and available to transfer across.

It's a wet lease so I would presume Alliance crews.

Unfortunately 787 crews are still only stood up for 4 weeks every few months or so, A330 crews slowly ramping up a little but still not full time.

Alliance Ejets are older then the B717

They will be crewed by Alliance as per wet lease agreement
