So Excreta
You joined Pprune yesterday and both your posts are so far are antagonistic. Another Angel. Where’s Justin? An A320Captain with Jetstar is on pretty good money. They will get approximately double what a Qantas 737 Captain gets for a reserve call out. Their pay isn’t at risk like QF737 T&C but then you wouldn’t know this cause you speak from a position of ignorance not having compared either award. Lifestyle at Jetstar is way better to the point where 737 pilot will be doing 8-12 overnights per 28 days and Jetstar none.
Idiot.

Someone is wrong.
Anyway the JQ pilots will be happy to know that they enjoy better lifestyle than their QF cousins.

The QF guys didn’t go back to have a career on the 737....which is pretty much what they’d have at JQ.
They went back to have a career on different fleet types, more varied flying, better conditions and more lifestyle/work life balance scenarios.
Yeah the 737 guys are getting hammered at QF right now. However it’s not forever. At JQ it is. The 787 is senior, and will be out of reach for most in their career in the left seat. Unless it massively expands. I doubt it.
Something tells me the existing JQ 78s will go to QF while JQ will do some interesting stuff with the 321 NEOs. Time will tell.

So what will it be?
We haven’t even broached the subject of safety degradation in the current climate of uncertainty. Once again safety is thought of somehow isolated from the current narrative.
“Building a workplace culture of high trust and implementing practices that involve employees in solving operational problems are expected to create a conducive climate for negotiating collective bargaining agreements expeditiously and with less need for detailed work rules (Katz, Kochan, and Gobeille 1983). The alternative of maintaining a more traditional adversarial relationship at the workplace risks setting in motion a self-perpetuating low-trust/high-conflict labor-management relationship both in day-to-day workplace relations and in contract negotiations. The evidence from other industries suggests that low trust and high conflict combine to have substantial negative effects on performance outcomes (Ichniowski, Kochan, Levine, Olson, and Strauss 1996)”
As a side note I know of several pilots that have reurned from a J* MOU that probably would have stayed knowing of the current machinations in QF. The only thing that keeps them here is getting into a wide body.

Would anyone like to comment on their own airline pay awards agreed over the last year? There appears to be a definite tightening of the jobs market for pilots and it would be interesting to see if this is being reflected in pay awards. At present we see in the media reports of noticeable pay increases by an increasing number of significant airlines. It might be helpful to collate some of this information into one place and understand some of the details.
I understand, for example that:
Aer Lingus agreed 11%
Easyjet 6%
Ryanair 20%
Thomas cook 8%?

Australian airlines are denying their own mortality.

Or are they......?
the only way to prove this would be for an ‘89 style exodus, driving an experience shortage.
not goanna happen, and the airlines know it.
sorry, just being honest.

Never happen...... More likely they'll introduce an extra type to further complicate things
That would make so much sense it almost certainly won't happen! JQ being narrow body Airbus only? Lean and streamlined, concentrating on sectors up to 6 hours? Could even look at hubbing out of Darwin to Asia, but do it properly this time!

It's interesting though, I have friends who travel to DPS on a regular basis and are long time QF FF's and will naturally not fly QF because of the aircraft or JQ because it's just no good (according to them) and therefore only fly Garuda. Would fly QF as a pinch if they had the 787's though.
Other friends have done the Vietnam trip a few times and will only use Vietnam Airlines but would use QF if they went there. I think that those issues/arguments have been done to death though haven't they?

Maybe AJ shouldn’t have passed on that 787 option.

And yes, before anyone chines in, the 787 is only about 20% aluminum but still...
