Australian pilots can work for US regionals.
Isn't the idea behind the E3 that we cannot be taking US jobs? Isn't that a requirement?
Anyway, I'm heading over there soon. Thanks to harvs, now I know just to tell those who don't like it that I'm a dual citizen :P

While browsing another thread here on PPRuNe had a pop up ad with a link to this:

Having done training with Ozmate instructors in the past, I think you'll find U.S. training rather refreshing.
E-3 Visa Holders
Compass accepts applications from Australian pilots holding E-3 Visas. E-3 Visa applicants must meet all airline and Visa qualifications prior to hire. Pilots who successfully complete the Compass interview process and already have an E-3 Visa will be offered an immediate class date.
E-3 VISA QUALIFICATIONS
• Applicant must be an Australian national
• Applicant must possess the necessary academic and other qualifying credentials
• Applicant must apply for an E-3 Visa from United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
Click here to learn more about the E-3 Visa application process
APPLICATION PROCESS FOR E-3 VISA CANDIDATES
1. Apply online for a Compass Airlines pilot position
2. Pilots who are extended an offer of employment will receive a formal offer letter to include with their E-3 Visa application
3. Class date provided when E-3 Visa is issued

2 Quick Questions:
For those that have got jobs in the US how many times did you need to travel over during the application process?
Also with more a more regionals directly targetting Aussie pilots could we soon see some of the majors like Skywest run interview days in Australia?

I'm heading to Skywest soon and have not gone over yet, never even visited the USA!
They have everything pretty well handled as far as getting us in smoothly goes. I'm not sure what the experience would be like at other carriers with less E3 experience.

From another thread. I can't tell for sure if this means this means Mesa has a physical office (or agent) in Australia and as far as I know, they haven't elaborated. Maybe emailing them directly would get an answer:
Mesa has established pilot-recruiting offices in other countries. The offices recruit first officers from South America and Australia whose citizens can fulfill official requirements for U.S. working visas relatively easily…”
https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-n...supply-dilemma
I looked on the AFAP jobs pages and see no mention of Mesa. It seems to me that'd be a reasonable place to list their recruiting "office" if they had one down there. Are there other Aussie-specific pilot job websites other than AFAP ?

TSA now also has a separate page for E3 candidates: http://www.transstates.net/careers/P...andidates.aspx
Looks like multiple regionals are now not only accepting E3 candidates but seeking them.
Nor have I. A look at Mesa's pilot recruiting section of their website shows the E3 thing but no mention of a foreign "office".
The article says they did open foreign offices, not considering opening offices.
If they did in fact open an "office" in Australia, wouldn't they give more info about it ?
Just more airline mystery !

G’day every one
I have online interview with SkyWest soon, the interview duration for one hour however the materials and subjects to be prepared from the interview seems to long, any insight where should I focus on, anyone gone through the online interview appreciate your feedback.

FAA alternate requirements, airspace max speed and max holding speed, swept wing aerodynamics, turbine engines, knowledge of your current aircraft, battery types and differences, electrical systems, airport lighting, airport signage.
But, they use the airlineapps.com system, IIUC, so if you're using this platform for some other regional you've already done almost all the work. Just a few more clicks ?
Apply to 'em all and see what happens. Don't limit your options without a clearly documented reason.
You can always say "no, but thanks".

The first aim for all is to create as many options as possible...then sort 'em out against personal goals.
Bafan,
You can always be relied upon to offer good advice and insight but with respect, Mesa will never change its spots. The culture of treating its employees and pilots badly, is so entrenched you'd have to have absolutely no alternatives or options left, to even consider it.
You'll know what I mean by this...Ornstein is up there with Lorenzo.

I would certainly not disagree with you.
But as a long time observer of the pilot hiring scene here, I have little faith that the people doing the hiring are infallible in their judgement. I've seen them do things that leave me speechless 40+ years after the fact....continuing until this very day.
So, my musing on the subject (worth no more than what people paid for it...maybe less) is just to say that one should keep all options on the table as rational treatment isn't guaranteed and less desirable options may be needed to reach a distant goal.
Those of you coming here as expats may have an additional hurdle or two in what's a prickly process on its best day .
As for Lorenzo, my generation is all too familiar with the guy. And he's far from unique in the airline biz.
