And honestly, given the political and social climate over there I sort of wonder if any of these companies will even want to go down the E3 road during the Trump administration, risking the stigma of taking American jobs from Americans. When I left many years back there was already murmurings from locals and even some ALPA reps about the E3 program taking American jobs. All that being said, who the hell even knows whats going to happen a day from now let alone 6 months to a year. Anything is possible!

Considering the number of pilots Spirit has recently shed, would any current E3 holders in the USA care to comment on whether they've been able to jump from one carrier to another while holding on to their E3 status ?

That being said with the Spirit recalls (all 500+ furloughed pilots) everyone now have a chance to return.

Not really any airline doing initial now, but with Spirit planning to run newhire classes of 50/month for the rest of the year I'd keep an eye out on the slim chance they open it up to E3s again.

Things like E3 visas are not favoured in this new world order . Being an optimist and knowing big business always win I’d bet there will be another new world order when the E3 is seen in a better light? As usual in this industry patience and timing required . Today’s leaped frog is tomorrow’s leaping frog .

I think this guy's video about pilot production/hiring stats may shed some light on why the bloom is off the E3 rose these days. Probably worth 31 minutes of time for those interested in such topics.
You can pick apart a few of his stats like retirement numbers. But even with his sources, he's probably plenty close enough for purposes of discussion.
He starts off talking about the Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) system in the US so you may not be interested in that. Go to 6:30 where he gets into the meat of his message.

havoste,
Have you been able to connect with any of the remaining Aussies at Spirit to find out what their intentions are now...leave the US or try to find another carrier here that will take their visa ?

The majority will seek or have other jobs overseas or back in Australia. A few have secured their green cards through marriage and are getting on with the legacies. A few are trying to get on with other US carriers but none are taking new E3s at the moment.
