You should be going to management with a "proactive" not "reactive" attitude. The real management - The people in the shadows, are actually trying to protect your interests.
Tried that. Didn't work. Current management team don't want to listen. I do agree though that there are some wthin who want what is right - the CEO may even be one of them but there are others who are going out of their way to make Qantas fail. They need to move on and if they don't, we will need to help them.

Are you fair dinkum? This isn't the CIA. Can I suggest to you that the 'people in the shadows' need not worry about the employees' interests, we'll look after ourselves - thanks very much for the offer. How about the real management start looking after the unreal management who aren't in the shadows, and stop them from making ridiculous, incompetent decisions. JQ Pac, Red Q, JQ HKG etc etc. And then (and I know this is going to sound like crazy talk) they might even attempt to manage QF Mainline, their core business.

Some of the statements on here are just comical at best.
Couldn't agree more.

You must have read my mind ALAEA. I just posted on another blog how about the unions get together for a fighting fund. Seeing that Thomson could "borrow" $500,000 for trips, dinners, and shagging at knock shops, surely they could raise enough money to a pay for a live ad, to tell the punters what is really happening. it will not be long before the same punters are seriously asking who is this Irish git who is stuffing Qannas? And why? This is far better than hand wringing and brow wiping by individual unions or indeed individuals. Right now Joyce and Clifford are not travelling well, the media is starting to sniff around, the Govt. and the Opposition are worried, nobody wants QF to cark it on their watch. People power People, you really are in the position to turn the ship around with the right leader. Off your arses and get going, contact your union, put it to them, get it out there, fight for the ship, its worth fighting for.

Agreed. You guys need to fork out some serious cash for a good PR team, or sack the ones you've got. Those posters look like they were done up by someone after work over a few beers! Surely thats not your last stand?

Nice idea but nothing can be done as shown in the last AGM. The reason for that the real power in the QF share registry is owned by a handful of people. Wouldn't matter what you threw at them they are going to stay on the course they have set. Not sure what the real game in play here but it sure as hell isn't running a friggin' airline with a red tail on it.

Either there is alot of incompetent management at QF or the real players are manoeuvring QF for something. Ever since the APA debacle QF management decisions have not exactly been in the best interest of QF.

Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their jobs oversea's already esp in manufacturing......they got on with their lives and many even improved their "station" in sectors such as mining. You will not win this battle. It will actually backfire.
I do not understand this comment, or CBW has a very vague grasp on reality.

Qantas pays (particularly pilots and engineers) on par what they earn overseas. A small change in the $AUD changes the balance on that considerably, so for the millionth time, this is NOT ABOUT PAY RATES! Almost any engineer or pilot could move overseas and live the same lifestyle as they have in Aus. The airline industry was the FIRST group to 'offshore'. This is not about pay rates, location etc it is about idiots destroying a great company.

Either you are an incompetent manager, or you have swallowed the most simplistic line possible about what this is about in which case you are an incompetent sight seer.

Yep we thought so as well and these two weren't for release. I was assuming the readers here would have understood them though.

I don't trust the management, but then again, I don't trust my union either!! As a short haul guy, I was disgusted at the AIPA Secure Our Flying pay scales. As usual, they had SO pay rates (A380) higher than FO 737 pay rates (if we were included under their award). & of course the A380 pay rates were up 10-15% but the 737 FO pay rates would be down approx 15% (yes I understand the proposed 737 rates would include LH protections - night credits, min guarantee etc. but I don't want them, I like the short haul pay for work ethic).

I just wish we could all work together (whole company) to get back on track. Remove all personal agendas & inequalities.

That would be great. But first, you would have to get rid of those that want to climb over everybody else to feather their own little nests. They are only a little minority, but enough to bugger it for everyone else.

I see it more and more. As soon as a change is touted, all the little gremlins go running for the supervisor's or manger's office and put their viewpoint forward (which normally aligns with the above mentioned change) and then try to spin it back to the "troops" as something they've come up with or "takes in the best of both worlds for both the company and the workers".

The whole place has become a snake pit.

I don’t want to quell anyone’s youthful exuberance, but those ads are incomprehensible.

You would have to say that all of them are obtuse to say the least, the last one a little less maybe.

280 - 380 mill earmarked for 'restructuring'. Where can that go apart from redundancies on a massive scale for long haul - whoops International. Could see a fair few 400s parked and resultant surplus in the next few months.

Keg pointed out on another forum the savings resulting from the "restructuring" are touted as being $200+ million PER ANNUM
