The Jetstar Gig is only Part Time so of course it does!!!

Only problem is because Jetstar require you to be available 24/7 to be rostered there may be problems co-ordinating rosters.

So maybe a part time job in Maccas would not work!!

McDonald's can't attract teenage burger flippers due to high-paying mining jobs | News.com.au

In Mount Isa, the mining town's only McDonald's is offering to cover travel costs for anyone willing to take up a full-time job, which pays $718 a week. Employees who stay for four months get a free return bus trip to Brisbane, and anyone staying for more than six months gets a plane ride back.

Yes, I suppose if you rocked up in your JQ uniform to Maccas or vice versa it could look a tad unproffesional.

Hang on, those macas wages pay better than Jetstar FO wages. I guess you could stuff up Mc Chicken or get an order wrong.

Great country we've got here.

Hey Kelpie. Under the definition of 'part time' the EBA minimum hours would also be classed as such... When are you people going to come up with a valid argument and stop bitching about the completely irrelevant?

And yeah, more to follow!

Except it's a full time contract ... so you guys are going to have to cough up for the super, sick leave etc. BTW are you trying to tell us that the JQ profitability is so tight that saving a few '000 on each contract will make or break the operation?

When are you people going to come up with a valid argument and stop bitching about the completely irrelevant?
When are you people going to come up with a valid argument as to why you are driving this once profitable company into the ground?

The point, Kelpie, is that we keep hearing about how the contract is 'part time' (snigger, snigger) due to the guaranteed minimum hours. However under the Award definition of 'part time' the EBA minimum hours would also be classified as part time. Not sure if I can make it any clearer than that...

Except it's a full time contract ... so you guys are going to have to cough up for the super, sick leave etc
Um, no - super and sick leave is paid to all permanent employees 'holic, full time or part time... it's kind of the law. But careful, they might try to put everyone on casual employment with talk like that.

Facts people!! Please use some facts instead of not letting them get in the way of a 'good' argument.

Clockwork Dill,
Ok, facts. For part time employees sick leave and annual leave are only paid on a pro rata basis, a definite saving for the company at the expense of the part time employee. Also, if your earnings fall below a certain threshold for the month (about $500?) you are no longer entitled to super for that month.

But stick with it. Keep up the spin and half truths, you'll go far in the upper echelons of QF management

Oh, Clockwork Dill. I see what you did there 'holic, how incredibly clever of you... And then the QF management bit - no one has ever done that before when someone dares to have a different opinion on PPrune...

Ah yes, 'holic, Company Spy... It's grand to know this is the standard of intelligence we can expect of the people flying our skies. It's no wonder the term 'Professional Pilot' is becoming an oxymoron

CD,
I'm not calling you management because you have a different opinion. I'm calling you management because of the way you spin the facts with half truths and refuse to engage in any kind of meaningful discussion about important issues.

Oh, Clockwork Dill. I see what you did there 'holic
Well done! You're much smarter than I gave you credit for. While we're playing 'spot the difference', see if you can spot the difference here :

TELSTRA
Cut costs too far = peoples' telephones don't work

QANTAS GROUP
Cut costs too far = smoking hole in the ground

Take your time and get back to me.

Are you aware of any document where J* are charging new FOs to be checked to line?? They previously had one in place!

NBBS

The charge for line training is part of the cost of the cadetship. It is termed the 'inflight' portion of the course.

They reckon it is done by Oxford Aviation using Jetstar aircraft and personnel.

A total con!!
