New JQ Contract
Hold on a second, Roger Greendeck made an excellent point that I think has been overlooked.
How can we expect unity if those that do the right thing (reject the pathetic contract) are left stuck in GA whilst those that are causing the problem are rewarded with EBA jobs?
Onestar will in all probability stop recruiting untill they can find another way to evade Aus IR law, leaving the guys doing the right thing having to continue to turn offers down and wait it out for what, eternity?

Those who rejected the offer will be rewarded by a better one in due course. If they'd all accepted it, they'd be stuck with it. Well done troops, it ain't over but it's a step in the right direction for a change.
The five who accepted were very foolish, and this time they were lucky. Hopefully the education will continue and we'll gradually improve the unity day by day. No anger at each other folks, remember who the real enemy is.

Don't worry though, their names will be on the seniority list and will be the only chunk of 5 hired in recent months, until at least September.
Something tells me they won't have anyone to have a beer with after work.

Fortunately not everyone is as ignorant and narrow minded as you Green Goblin. Such an attitude is appalling and it is you and your like minded bullies who need to be ashamed.

Now after some have stuck their neck out, probably costing themselves career wise (c&t) to retain their rightful conditions, you'll be sitting smugly at home.
The 5 that signed should be banished back to GA to think about their actions.

I was unaware that Australia is no longer a free country where people can not make personal career choices without being vilified by the likes of you Green Goblin. Grow up!

Stop bickering please. The real point is that only 5 people felt that the contract offered a significant improvement on their current options. i have spoken to one applicant who has better options than the offered contract, not an industrial relations tactic just a fact. The market has spoken. Now could we leave the thread until something new and useful is posted.

What a Circus !!!
Yep totally agree the ones who turned this down and saw it for what it was worth get screwed.
They will only have to wait until after September now sheesh
Would of been good to see nobody accept the contract but 5 is pretty low.
Real slap in the face for Jetstar wanting 50 odd positions filled

The figure of 50 offers has been bandied around but does anyone know how many they actually wanted to fill? Bit more embarrassing if they only wanted to fill eight or ten positions.
"oicur12.again, we do not have a free market system of capitalism. How can we when the most basic unit of the economy (money) is centrally planned & deliberately debased via the Central Banking system?"
Breakfast burrito,
I agree. Completely. In theory.
But in practice, in the context of selling your skills as a pilot, it is a RELATIVELY free market. Flawed, yes, but its all we have.
If someone is willing to sell there labor for less than you then its up to you to respond.

A Second Offer?
One question:
If a Jetstar aspirant was offered a "contract" and he/she declined it (for whatever reason), what is the probability that he/she will receive another offer of employment (presumably under the current EBA or revamped contract) by Jetstar?

If said person is smart enough to knock back this offer, they will most probably gain suitable employment in the long term. If they were to accept this offer they might as well resign to a life of miserly conditions.
Ever heard the saying, short term pain - long term gain.
It used to be the case almost all pilots would take the long term pain for an eventually long term rewarding career.
These days prospective pilots jump over each other to destroy their own long term prospects.

So now there are 5 undesirables in the workforce, yet the 45 that stood firm get rewarded by probably being black-band from Jet Star from a job that they did want (but on fair terms and conditions). Hope the union addresses this, as I know who I would want to sit next too. For the record I dont fly for JetStar

Swinging dicks next to a big Jetstar pilot like the Goblin in the bar after work would surely be worse than any hell I can imagine!
I guess thats why you dont get invited out for a beer by any Qantas crew, you know your personal career choices affect everyone else.
Toughen up princess
Compylot... how is tough up princess relevant to 5 pilots selling their souls to undercut every other pilot flying A320's, let alone with Jetstar?
Although it seems like pilots have had a win over management in this case, if these 5 guys do get employment then all Jetstar management have to do in the future to get the 'pliable' types is to offer any hair-brained terms and conditions, back down and then still put them on the EBA. Thus when it comes to negotiating time, there is 5 more pilots that wont join a union, and will effectively be YES men.
It is up to the individual as much as anyone else to say 'no' to turd sandwiches such as this. Although why you would still want to work for One star these days after one fiasco after another is beyond me.
Play the ball not the man!

Make no mistake they will forge ahead in their plans.
My point is that pilots being pilots are so easily carved up like soft butter.
My point in case is that you get comments such as that from the goblin degenerating those who accepted the new contract.
There are pilots on the 717 working for 'Qantaslink' on less than what Jetstar are offering, do you want to 'name and shame' them too Goblin? Or perhaps give them the ultimate penalty and deny them your company at the bar
Accepting pay and conditions less than than what should be the minimum to 'build hours' or 'get experience to move on' has, is, and continues to be an endemic cancer in aviation.
I would argue that the rot could be traced back to pilots in Australia paying for their own jet endorsements in the late 90s. Perhaps others would say it could be traced back further.
Management in airlines have realised this, and the same attitude that means some pilots 'work for free' to get their first charter job, means they will accept anything presented to them for their 'first jet job'
What will stop the rot? One united industry wide pilot body, from student up to ATPL that doesn't differentiate between airlines or employers that dictates the absolute minimum pay and conditions from a cessna to a boeing.
Is that ever going to happen?
Certainly not.
Too many egotistical, dick swinging, self serving, personalities that at the end of the day define what the vast majority of pilots are made of.
Simply put, it's just too easy to become a pilot in this day and age. There is nothing to it. Line of credit and half a brain will get anyone into the right hand seat.
