Hey, it's a rumour network.

This would have legs once QF had got rid of 734 aircraft, and if the whole Oz/Kiwi domestic market was turning down.

Makes more sense to keep taking the new gear and get rid of the old than try to defer/cancel 738.

Mel CSM bid packages are out now and my wife is looking at WLG returns, 10:35 duty hours and the staff travel lists the flights as on a 73H as operated by Jetconnect for Qantas.

As her seniority number is now under 200 she might stand a chance.

Bring on the duty free.

Let those Pac Blue legends come running back but Jetconnect now have seniority as per the CEA/EBA! Bottom of the list you go guys!
As per the Borhgetti announcement, complete fleet replacement, first aircraft to arrive in June '09'
Jetconnect now also has approval to operate VH tail aircraft, all tech crew receiving oz licences and aircraft will be cycled thru as required. This is FACT!!!!
Interesting times indeed.

Why would people move from PB to JC? While I can see the why pilots would rather fly a newer aircraft. I can't see why people would now be more inclined to work for Jetconnect because their 737's are going to have bigger screens. The T&C's are still the same.

Perhaps QF mainline can get back their old 737 classics to operate the premium services between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne?

Cant help myself here, let me assure you the T & C's are not even close to being the same.

J/C have a 6 month old CEA/EBA. This took two years negotiating with those half witted, no talent mongoloids who now run Pac Blue! They failed by the way and new J/C management had to step in, it took them 6 weeks, sorted!!!

Last time I checked PB are still on individual contracts.
( I believe you PB guys are to work your day off when required? correct me if I'm wrong )

J/C receive incentive pay, PB do not

J/C base salary higher

J/C has seniority, something PB managaement is ideologically opposed to!

J/C has a formal roster bidding system, entrenched in the CEA

Numerous protections for working single days off etc, a formal fatigue management programme that is actually actioned as opposed to
previous J/C ops managers system of total denial!

A grey day type system designed to give crew extra days off

Minimum 12 hours rest

And my personal favourite, management actually call you back when you need to talk to them!!! Well ****!

I feel for you guys at PB, I've worked under your current regime and this is a FACT!!! J/C was weeks away from being shut down because of them.
The place was mismanaged badly and it took new QF management to save them. The place isnt fixed yet by all accounts but it's well on the way

Johnny. You have misunderstood. I'm not saying the conditions are the same at J/C as they are at PB. But at J/C, they will be the same if your looking at CRT's or LCD's. Some people on this thread seem to think that people will now leave PB and rejoin J/C, simply because J/C will have 800's. It's still a 737, who gives a sh#t.

I'm with you, a 737 is a 737, I guess where I was coming from is the longivity of J/C now seems to be assured. This is aviaton however and anything can happen but it's a good shot in the arm for the decent hard working people at J/C!

The thing that worried me is the reduction back to 7 jets from the 8 (planned to 9 with CHC/WLG)??

Does that mean excess pilots?

From what I heard from an auditing source, PB has 18 months max left in it, with the parent company dumping its losses into it. The "Pac Blue Legends" will be joined by many more.
If true, and I hope not, the "Legends" will have worked their magic again.

The news is very good for Jetconnect. I congratulate those involved in the long process of getting a collective agreement ... and a very good one it is at that.

Johnny Blue eyes .... Make sure your facts are correct. I wouldn't think ANYONE would leave Pac Blue back to Jetconnect for the NG alone ... Pac blue has them, they have more of them and they fly them to more destinations.
Your facts are incorrect ...
1. Pac Blue is an individual contract ... days off can be ASKED not required. Replacement day off (refer FMS)
2. Jetconnect base salary is NOT higher. Point of fact .. I have been closely involved in comparing all conditions and a year 2 captain at Jetconnect and Pac Blue can expect to take home almost exactly the same income, based on a moderate amount of incentive pay (Jetconnect).
3. Roster system. Pac Blues Rosters are stable and trust me on this one, much more condusive to family life. Pac Blue also has a formal Roster bidding system being introduced. This is not a critism on Jetconnect .. just an observation.
3. Compare the Jetconnect (current) and Pac Blue Fatigue MS... not many differences .. if at all .... i don't know where you get the idea that pac Blue pilots have differing rest requirements. if anything, they are required to have more rest due to the duty sign off times (eg RAR duty .. 30 hour stand down AKL base).
If you are going to post on here ... get you facts right!

Puma pants. Your sources are telling you quite different information to mine then ... Aviation is a rapidly changing industry ... it is pure stupidity on your behalf to predict that PB has 18 months to live...

Both Jetconnect and Pac Blue have pro's and cons .. One does not stand out as being beter off than the other. They both have some great people working for them.

The 18 months was not not my prediction, just passing on some info I heard. But hey, it's Monday, and all has probably changed by now.

Good post. I've got some good friends at PB and it's good to see they're being shown a bit of respect!

With regard to making accurate posts, I thought I might add my two cents worth.

JC now have a third year increment for the retention bonus: extra $3750

average hours across the company - 72hrs, ( captains )
so, 7hr O/T = extra $1050/month, multiplied by 12 = extra $12600

4% ZQN allowance that all JC capts now automatically receive after 12 months, rated or not. extra $4524

Base salary to increase 3.5% OCT 2009
3.5% OCT 2010

So, ignoring the annual increases, to my mind JC better off by: $20,874

I have also been very conservative with incentive pay, you could easily add another $5000 to those figures, depending on staff levels.
( historically the reverse has not happened )

Note: JC started receiving matched 4% kiwisaver 6 months ahead of PB
Total $3023 for this financial year


Of course I am quoting JC figures only and there may be numerous additions to the PB contract, that I am unaware of.

I am most happy to stand corrected.

i don't know where you get the idea that pac Blue pilots have differing rest requirements.
Can someone confirm that JC has the greatest 'time off between shifts' out of all the operators in NZ? I was told by someone in the company that they have either 11 or 12 hours minimum rest and that is better than air nz or PB. If this is true then it is one difference.

Threecombs .. Thanks .. I'm sure your incremental figures are correct .. and I don't mean to "correct" you ... the two companies pay differently ... Not one better or worse .. just differently. If we talk straight money, my figures still show that, based on a Line Captain, the two companes pay about the same.

But remember :
1. Pac Blue pays base salary which is higher than JC's.. therefore the 4% Kiwisaver is paid on that amount
2. Pac Blue pays $1000per year for staff travel
3. Pac Blue Loss of licence scheme is equal to MBF (3x salary to $500K max)and comes as part of the package
4. JC has incentive payment .. which is a good thing for them .. but as a Captain, you don't have to work over 65hrs to earn the same money in Pac Blue. Most Line FO's and Captans not working overly hard at present, albeit the training staff working flat out at Pac Blue
5. Training pay based on base salary .. therefore the Pac Blue Training Captain is on 12% of the higher base Salary between the two Companies.

JC has a good contract, no doubt about it, and those who negotiated it ought to be commended. JC certainly has more benificial "Tme away from work clauses" ... something PB needs to address.

As I said in my earlier post .. there are pro's and cons working for either Company .. both have great people working there.
