In light of the fact that GD just announced a serious belt tightening exercise as a result of skyrocketing oil prices, don't expect any major increase in renumeration any time soon!

I think the level of engagement for both Sunstate and Eastern crews are about to hit another all time low after reading the latest from the AFAP web site, it would seem that all concerned will have to carry a copy of their respective EBA's.... It seems that Qlink management are hell bent on driving the company into the ground and their pilots to Virgin....

To all in the know-- WHY are QF link management so hostile to a proper SS-EA INTERGRATION? GG.

Nationwide Airlines? Nationwide with only 175 pilots?!! No wonder they're out of business! Wow, I can see that the pilot shortage is now officially over then. Alright! Back to work everyone!

You might want to ask them directly, GG because neither of the Pilot Councils have been told anything...

We put in a lot of hours around the table to come up with an unprecedented in-principle agreement between the 2 pilot councils. This in itself would address some of the the key problems faced by QL at the moment and create some great opportunities for crew.

We submitted it to the company and guess what happened?

Nothing.

Nothing.

Nothing.

We're still scratching our heads in dismay....

I really hope someone takes the bull by the horns and gets the 2 groups together sometime down the track. Unfortunately I doubt it will come to fruition under the current management.

Either way, I won't be around to enjoy it.

Things are starting to bite, Armidale overnight cancelled last night due to lack of crew. Passengers had to be overnighted in Sydney.

Unbelieveable, money just going out the window, while there is a simple solution to the problem.

It's the new trainee-ship program of course.

It's interesting to know what VB will do for recruits soon when both Rex and Q'Link get these employees locked into a contract.

In the meantime, keep parking a/c.

Great business sense NK. I wish I got a bonus for such poor performance!

yadot,

the only pilots that REX and QFLink will be locking into contracts are those who do not meet the min requirements for the major domestic airlines. Problem is that any pilot with enough experience for command will probably have already gone. So unless CASA are willing to allow commands on the Dash and SAAB to bare CPL's, I think this whole process is heading for only one conclusion!

Now having said that, I heard today (2nd hand of course) that QFLink management have finally come to realise the peril they are in, and are set to offer their pilot group Terms and Conditions on par with those at DJ! This is not a wind up, but something that was mentioned to me.

Any current QFLink pilots heard anything?

They could pay more than DJ/JQ and still people would take a pay cut to fly 'JETS'!
We see it every day where I work, in fact people are leaving to be paid considerably less as an F/O on a turbo prop and work twice as hard... (I don't get it)

Crikey Howard, I don't get that either. I agree there will always be those that will leave to fly Jets, but the ones that are leaving that do not fit that profile, they are the ones that will break the company!

Lets hope you are right Krusty, there a lot of people leaving who dont really want to, but are doing it for the extra pay and the extra days off.....
Qlink will have jets in a couple of years..... and dont forget the Q400 has jet like speeds....

Cool

and dont forget the Q400 has jet like speeds
With piston-like pay

11 days and counting, Newsensation.......

Qantaslink already has jets. NJS is the Qantaslink jet operator and I don't envisage that ever changing.

Krusty, Nothing has been mentioned to the Pilot Council about your statement. The last correspondence was from the EGM on the 15th April. So I would say it is a Furphy.

I'd stay at Qlink for similar pay and conditions as offered for the embraer as my egos not directly proportional to the size of the aircraft i fly, but they would have to offer a change in managment now too, as nobody has any trust in them anymore.

You never know, they might pull a surprise out of the bag, but I doubt it.

Why let half your experience walk out the door if you were planning to pay the going rate from the beginning? Not very inspired leadership or planning.

Lets not forget that once a pilot leaves, that's it. The (unwritten?) rule that once you leave Qlink you may never return, still stands - does it not?

Will that be changed? If they crank up the pay and spare the whipping, surely plenty of guys that have left would love to return - for the Lifestyle that used to exist.

If there is any truth in the rumour about matching DJ, they had better put it on the table! Now.

Time is running out.

NEWSENSATION.

I agree with your prediction re jets. My guess is that they will be CRJ900/1000s, with an interim fill by B717s, if the E-Jets start taking too much market share in the short to mid term. Who will fly them? Well I have a prediction on that too, but won't go into that yet in this forum.

Wynsock,

A small number of ex-capts have been approached by the company with a view to returning. To my knowledge, none have accepted yet, particularly when they are networked with current guys who keep them in the loop in regards to current happenings.

Troj, I will - NJS

Now get back to work!
