I believe there was a survey that went out to members - I am no longer a member for a large variety of reasons - however if it was anything like the survey the company issued (7 questions only, 4 of which were age/base/rank/gender ) then I dont have much faith
Anyway, sorry for thread drift, this thread is about QF

THREAD DRIFT! DEPLOY THE SEA ANCHOR!
Sorry - I get visions of life rafts and ditching drills everytime I hear the word 'drift'.
I always thought the permanent part time thing was one-way at QF. Guess I was wrong!
Re: AO conversion...I'm hearing that a few of them are putting their hands up for LHR and PER (in addition to MEL & SYD). A few also taking redundancy, surprisingly enough. Will be interesting to see the final makeup of numbers across the board, and how the 'final picture' looks.
Interesting times for one and all. I sincerely hope that EAA, Sunnies and JQD get the proper number of CP slots they deserve - in 2 months time, it will have been 18 months since the last intake...not that I'm counting
Given the wave upon wave of MAM casuals that have been employed over this time frame - and remembering that they have nothing to do with CP (sadly) - one would reasonably think the time has come for everyone to get their base transfer/CP slot/etc.

Somehow I dont think the regionals factor into the career progression the faaa is referring to in their notice. They are referring to MAM casuals I think and their opportunity for career progression as per EBA7.
In regard to AO crew all I can say is good luck if they are thinking they will be offered Syd or Mel before the Perth transfer list is cleared. The EBA is very clear on the issue of transfers and from what I hear and see when flying with Perth crew is that they are preparing for a battle and believe me they would have the full support of a large percentage of full-time cabin crew.

Sinala,
Did them not too long ago...the scars are still evident in my thoughts!
Galleyhag,
My fears exactly...let's hope we're both wrong.
It's going to be an interesting next few months. Once the new Financial Year kicks in, who knows what little surprises await us all?

1. We don't think that - we have only been offered 10 SYD slots and 20 MEL slots.
2. We are not here to pi$$ any existing crew on tsfr lists off.
3. When 300 of us commence with S/H, it will push you further up the seniority list, giving you better roster - so please, be nice.
You will be working with a bunch of highly motivated, friendly and experiened crew with airline experience from more than just Australian Airlines.

Whatever happens you can't blame any AO crew as they are only going with the offer made to them by the company.
It's not beyond the realms of possibility that the company is stirring the pot again. They have done it in the past and no doubt will play one group against the other in the future.
QF Skywalker..If 30 positions are for S/H in SYD/MEL ,how many positions are in the CNS base and how many are going to LHR or take VR?

Transfers for AO crew are being decided in order of start date.
Positions available according to QF management:-
SYD 10
MEL 20
PER 50
CNS 220 (including 34 CSMs)
London is a separate option as per normal QFCCUK recruitment and S/H LWOP arrangements.

Crew will find out which base they will work from on Friday 22nd June - this will be via email or phone call from QANTAS. CSM's will also find out if they have kept their position or will continue employment as a ''flight attendant ' on this day.
220 crew is the required number for crew for the start of the new CNS S/H base. This has been the most popular first preference for AO crew.
75 slots for LHR have been offered - and it appears that all 75 will be taken by AO crew. They will return to the S/H base they are allocated on 22nd June after their LHR contract is completed.
AO Crew were told that QF will do their best to accomodate everyones first base choice which led to the speculation that more than 10 SYD and 20 MEL slots would be allocated - therefore sending the MAM casuals and existing PER S/H crew on tsfr lists into a spin.
50 PER slots have been offered - however it does not seem to be a popular choice amongst the crew. ( Guestimate of about 30 crew interested )
Redundancy has also been popular. Many crew have applied.
Conversion training begins from 2 July. 7 days training in SYD with 2 days in MEL also. CNS based crew will be trained first. Those crew moving to other bases will be the last to be trained as they want the CNS base to begin operating on SEP 01.

QF s/h are about to gain 30-40 chinese language speakers and 50 + japanese language speakers from AO. I expect the CNS base to do quite a bit of the NRT flying. We will have to wait and see if the chinese speakers will do any China trips.

Any word on how many have taken VR from S/H and L/H?
Have some friends who have taken the package, but no-one seems to really know the figures.
