I got a reply via their facebook page, they have advised me that I will receive the results within 30 working days. I've asked them what will happen if this pushes me past the 6th of September. I'll let you know the outcome. I think the diagrammatic may actually be sequential patterns. When I did my army aptitude tests, the diagrammatic reasoning was all sequences, very tough ones though. I bought a good book from amazon, gives you a good insight and trains you what to look for. Good luck

popgun87 27th August 2013 09:06

I was meaning is the diagrammatic stuff still included in stage 1 tests, as it appears to have changed quite a bit recently, and recent posts have been quite vague (some mention of finding a shape that stands out, whatever that means, and working out what the command is in a sequence - a sort of reverse diagrammatic test, I suppose?)
I saw the comments on the fb page but still seems rather vague. Guess we'll just have to keep checking our emails and hope they give us *some* time to prepare!

Facebook Page for the next course

Greetings everyone,

The facebook page for those waiting for the January course has been created, with a few of us already there waiting for the big day. For those of you who already have their offer of employment (after stage 3), feel free to join.

For privacy reasons (some of us can't hand our notice periods this far in advance) the group is not visible unless you are a member (if you join, only the members will know), so please PM me your facebook page and I'll join you. Anyone has permission to add other members, so feel free once you are there to join those you know who also got past stage 3.

Good luck to those doing the stages now! See you all soon. :)

Nats

Hi Ross,

I have completed my Swift Comprehension Aptitude tests and then received my Spatial Reasoning and Diagrammatic Reasoning test to do , can you please tell me how many more there is to do?
Thanks guys .

Omark 7th September 2013 08:29

Greetings everyone,

I am through the first two online tests, and am now waiting for the mail about the assessment day.
I have a question about the paper test, and other non-standard FEAST tests: will there be heavy numerical reasoning exercises? As a student of linguistics, I would need to brush up on my Math skills in that case.
Also, in light of some political debates regarding non-UK citizens taking UK jobs, do you think NATS actively prefers local candidates, even if it's not PC to say so?
I'll have considerable travel expenses, and I'm trying to gauge whether I have a realistic chance or the money is just going down the drain.

Thank you in advance, and good luck to everyone!

Crazy Voyager 7th September 2013 09:34

NATS have plenty of foreign employees, myself included, so being foreign does not count against you.

Current closure of NATS recruitment

Hey all, just wondering if anyone knows the status of th ATC recruitment at the moment. The message on the site is:

Recruitment for Trainee Air Traffic Controllers is on hold whilst we upgrade our assessment process. You can register your interest below and we will contact you to make an application in the future.

I know it says closed for upgrade, but does anyone know if this is a longterm thing?

Thanks very much :)

Waiting for stage 3?

Good morning all, I was wondering if anyone could help me a little....

I passed stage 2 back at the end of June, and was told that stage 3 would not take place until september. It was also made pretty clear in the email that I was not to contact NATS in the meantime. However I still haven't heard and September is rapidly running out...

When I applied the indication was that the course would start in October, but that seems pretty unlikely.

I assume stage 3 is being held up because of the changes? Anyone else in the same boat?

Thanks,

Jason.

Hello everybody, new member here!
I have been reading this thread and have ready back over the past couple of months and it seems that the NATS assessment has changed recently.
I have passed stage 1 and am awaiting an assessment date, I recieved the e-mail on the 15th August and the e-mail said that there were going to be dates in September. Is this a usual length of time to wait for a response?
Thank you for any info.

Cheers!

Emily19859 13th September 2013 08:08

Hey bob I am in the same boat as you still waiting for assessment date...not sure what to expect or how long we will have to wait...frustrating !!!

The next course is currently planned for January.

Also Still Waiting

Hey Guys - Bob and Emily in particular!

I too am still waiting for this elusive September assessment date. I received my email on the 1st July saying the dates would be in September, so hopefully we will all hear something soon.

With regards to the January start date, I doubt that any of us will be slotted into that intake, unless of course they fast track the remaining portion of our application process.

Hope to be lucky enough to meet you at said assessment date sometime in the future!!!

Getting Impatient !

Hi everyone,
Anyone heard anything yet about assessment dates? I'm checking my emails a few times every day. It's middle of Sep now...

Emily19859 18th September 2013 08:17

Yeah I am checking my emails so many times a day . I am just hoping its not gonna be a one day notice thing :(

Omark 24th September 2013 16:35

Okay, apparently the assessment process has been upgraded by NATS, the notice is gone. :)

CounterAttack 26th September 2013 15:59

Test materials.

For stage 2 of the assessment tests, do NATS still provide candidates with the same "test_materials.doc"? Or since they have upgraded the application process, is there another updated document in which candidates have to study?

Cheerio.

snowak 27th September 2013 05:59

Have you passed Stage 1 already? Nice :ok:. Did you find it difficult? I'm going to take it some time next week as well as I wouldn't want a potential bad news to ruin my trip :p

reapplying for 2nd attempt

Hello all, I sat my Stage 1 (the old process) roughly this time last year in Southampton. I am thinking of reapplying for my 2nd attempt at it all. Now, from what I understood, you could just apply again to carry on at the stage you failed last time around, however, I've seen the process has completed changed with stage 1 now being done online.

Does this now mean I should just completely apply from scratch again? I believe they'd know somehow it is my 2nd attempt (with 3 the max I believe).

You have to wait 24 months from the date you failed the previous attempt.

I've never heard you can start from the stage you failed at. From what I've read you start the process from the beginning.

JackRalston 27th September 2013 13:00

Oh wow, I've always been convinced it was 12 months, (when) did they change the gap at some point?

Kimmikins 27th September 2013 16:10

They updated the application process earlier this year and extended the time between reapplications to 24months.

And you've never been able to reapply and continue from where you failed. You always start from the beginning.

waiting for stage 3

Reply to Jason.

I'm in that boat with you Jason. Completed stage 2 in June and passed, I was the only one that made it through from the morning to the afternoon!!

I emailed NATS at the beginning of September asking for an update and was told that the final interview dates were still being arranged.

I visited Bristol Tower Control today and was so pumped up afterwards that after I got home I emailed NATS again for an update.

If you hear anything post here or PM me. I will let you know what NATS response is to my email.

ewart_n 29th September 2013 09:09

Hi I've still not heard back from nats for a date for stage 2 tests. Starting to worry as eerily are nearly into Oct. Has anyone else heard back?

Hi ewart_n yeah I am the same haven't heard a thing and the email said September they would be in touch. I would have rang them but the email stated not too :s

ewart_n 1st October 2013 09:26

Hi TriniDan, congrats on passing stage 2. I'm waiting for my date for stage 2. How was it? What was involved in the testing? How did you prepare?

TriniDan 1st October 2013 17:15

update

Hi Guys,

I emailed NATS about the final stage interview and was told there are currently no stage three assessments being scheduled. They are waiting to hear from the college on the number of trainees needed for the next course. I assume this will also affect stage 2 and 1 applicants.

ewart, I'm not going to give you any specific details, just read the document you were sent. To pass the spatial awareness, logic reasoning etc you can't really prepare for. You can either do it or you can't. There is some English and Maths so make sure you are capable with both of those and play the games on NATS website.

I will tell you this, there are a LOT of tests and it is a very intense morning. Be calm and remember the aim is to be accurate not necessarily to complete the test because you just don't have the time.

jasonmriches 4th October 2013 09:44

One more bit of advice for stage those waiting for stage 2...

Don't drink too much in the morning. Once your tests at 9 start you're not allowed to leave the room for a bathroom break until lunch. And needing to pee can be really distracting

sambatc 4th October 2013 10:13

tip for the really dedicated - take in empty water bottles in case of peepee emergency.

Not saying that's how I got in...but I did get in...

eyesickle1 9th October 2013 00:45

I applied today and took the tests and received my e-mail stating I had passed the Stage 1 assessments :) It doesn't mention a date or hint of when upcoming Stage 2 days will be, which is different to some people here mentioning something about September? I guess it might be a while before a date is set. Excited though, although slightly scared after reading the infographic stating only approx 20 from 3000 completely pass!

Control Tower Visits

Hi All,

I am currently at stage 3 of the application process. I have been advised that it would be good to visit a control tower before attending the next stage of the process. Would anyone be able to help as to the best ways of making this happen?

There appears to be no contact details on the NATS site for any of the individual control towers. I would be more than happy to visit any of the airports in the south of England or the Midlands. If anyone could steer me in the right direction that would be excellent. Please feel free to reply on this thread or send a private message.

Thanks in advance :)

heading 125 9th October 2013 22:05

Did you want me to ring them for you as well. I am flying later in the week ill pick you up if I am passing :ugh:

Crazy Voyager 9th October 2013 22:19

If you contact HR they can put you in contact with the right people.

sambatc 10th October 2013 07:50

telephone numbers for aerodromes can be found in the AIS, on NATS' website. It's not easy to find them....but if you want the job... :ok:

Emily19859 23rd October 2013 22:26

Hi has anyone heard anything yet about stage two assessment date....I still haven't heard anything :(
Emily

Jon_London 24th October 2013 08:45

Emily, i'm in the same boat. Passed Stage 1 at end of August and was told that dates for Stage 2 would be in September. Not heard anything since and as the email states not to contact, then its just the waiting game right now!

Anyone else heard anything?

Buzzaldrin 24th October 2013 13:06

Not heard a thing here. Strangely reassuring to know that I'm not alone in being in the dark.

Emily19859 25th October 2013 08:15

Yeah feel better knowing I am not alone was beginning to think they had organised it in September but forgotten me ha ha!!

kibo55 29th October 2013 19:58

Hi guys!!

Congrats to those who have made it through to Stage 2!! I hope you hear about your assessment date soon!

Having been unsuccessful with after my Stage 1 tests last year I have re-applied and passed the initial basic filter this year.

I have noted that the Stage 1 tests that I previously sat in the NATS college down in Fareham last year are now being done online so I am going to do a little more practice now and then hopefully attempt the test tomorrow.

So far it is looking good because I have got 100% in all the spatial and diagram reasoning practice tests that I've have done online (and I know that's where I failed last year)

Fingers crossed for myself and good luck to everyone else!!

Akin

HeaVn 30th October 2013 09:15

Hi kibo55, i though we had to wait 24 months before replying after failure... Did you take the test last year at this time?

kibo55 30th October 2013 09:55

I did read that the gap between applications has risen to 24 months however I am unsure as to when this change was implimented.

I'm unsure if this change includes anybody who has previously applied and been unseccessful BEOFRE or AFTER the date which the change was implimented.

However it did ask me to state if I had previously applied for the TATC position at NATS during the online registration process and it also asked me to state when this was and how far I got so I am hoping that being accepted to take the online tests is a good sign!!

...Although I could fail them anyway still so i'm not panicking yet!

Akin
