nats recruitment

It looks like it could be two years before an opportunity to re-apply at present ......

Crazy Voyager 30th March 2013 10:51

That is not new, NATS mentioned this the first time in February I believe

from the NATS careers facebook

currently, you will be able to apply from October, but from 1st April this will be changing and you will need ti wait 24 months in between applications. We are freezing recruitment from March but we can not at this stage say how long for.

That was in February, they also say the same day that it's due to eurocontrol guidelines.

The FAQ on their website reflect the same information

If I am not selected can I apply again?

Yes. You can have up to three attempts with a 24-month gap from the date at which you fail. If you are not selected, please do not be too disheartened – the selection process is tough. Because training is very expensive, we have to be very sure about our selection decisions.

@ Crazy Voyager

Many Thanks.

I suppose the numerical and verbal reasoning tests are new as well.....

malakajin 1st April 2013 00:04

The new recruitment process seems very nice . It's a win for NATS, diminishing costs/time for result check/stress/human resources and its a win for the candidates as well who have to fly in only for FEAST tests and the interview so everyone should raise the roof . Overall it's a nice change except the 24 months gap.

ONLINE RECRUITMENT

NATS' online recruitment is now active. Stage 0 throws in something more except I am mistaken; an online verbal and numerical reasoning tests!!!

Stage 1 seems to now consist only of Spatial and Diagramming tests......

ATC motivation paper is now a Stage 2 process.

Anyone able to throw more light on these.....

tooomek 3rd April 2013 15:10

I just got an email, and.. I didn't make it even though I was successful at the interview :{ it was my third time, gutted!

Omg That's gutting, I'm so sorry to hear that! :{

tooomek 4th April 2013 11:32

It's hard to acknowledge the failure being soo close - twice. I guess I'm just not the right person - that's my dreams of being an ATCO shattered for good!

Hope the rest of you have more luck then I did!

Banksy 4th April 2013 13:36

Anyone starting on the next course please PM me.

sayagainchap 8th April 2013 18:13

Good Evening,

For those that have had a stage 3 in the recent months, can anyone confirm the start time for the day? Was it 09:15 local?

Regards,
sayagainchap

Broon9 9th April 2013 19:34

@sayagainchap

I have my stage 3 tomorrow and it is an 08:15 start.

Assi 14th April 2013 13:09

Hi. I just completed my on line stage1. What will happen now? Should they send me an email or can i view my results from the site of the test?
THanks guys!

Jof_1999 15th April 2013 16:04

Assi, the system has changed now so I am not sure but you used to get your results emailed through.

Stage 1 - Assessment dates

Hello all. I'm looking for a little piece of information regarding the assessment dates for stage 1.

I received an email on 05/03/2013 inviting me to the assessment. At the time, there were time slots available but I am just finishing my degree so wanted to focus on one thing first. It has been almost 2 months since my initial email.

On checking the email regularly for available dates, so far there hasn't been any available. Is it normal for this delay in available time slots and is it likely that more dates will be added soon or is it likely to be over 6 months?

The message on my email reads the following: "There are no available time slots remaining for this interview. Please contact the hiring manager listed above to schedule an interview time."

Thanks.

Famzy 28th April 2013 11:50

That tends to happen when you delay picking a date. Contact HR and tell them you have no dates showing, they'll email you another link with more time slots.

FlyBot 28th April 2013 13:47

Hi all, i passed stage 0 (the numerial/verbal/error checkingg online tests) the other week, and have been sent an email to complete the Diagrammatical & Spatial Reasoning tests.
On the practice PDF's they sent me for the Spatial Reasoning, it's just the tilted shapes that i need to identify the odd one out...is this what will be on the actual online test? for some reason i thought it was the cubes?
Thanks

Kimmikins 28th April 2013 18:19

They've changed the application process as of the end of March/beginning of April so nobody has been through the process in it's new form. I'd go with whatever the emails tell you.

thechilangowey 29th April 2013 01:17

Same here!

Hi Flybot,

I've just completed Stage 1 last night, The Spatial Reasoning Aptitude was easier than I thought, although it may be due to the fact that I had already gone through similar tests when I first apply for the Navy.

Find the odd one out as you said, stay focused and you should be just fine.

As for the Diagrammatic Reasoning one it was pretty easy at the start and was able to progress through it without the need of scrap paper but around the 6th round it eventually got harder so I'm not sure how well I did. (I should have used paper and pencil but did everything mentally :ugh:).

INPUT, PROCESS, OUTPUT, you wil have to either guess which process was used from the INPUT to the OUTPUT, what was the original INPUT to get the OUTPUT through to the process and so on...
In the latest "rounds" there may be more than 2 processes involved.
Take notes ;)

Wish you the best luck!

VISA ISSUES

Hey everyone, is there anyone that can give some help on the visa? Any information at all? Which one to go for, how to approach it? Any information will be much appreciated! PM me if you can help! Thanks everyone!

Jof_1999 1st May 2013 15:04

It all depends on your nationality really. If you are in Dubai then the only place you can go and get any ligitimate answers is the British Embassy.

AdamOliver 1st May 2013 15:06

Yes, I live in Dubai and do have residency there. However, I am South African. The problem I have is, how am I supposed to get a visa without a job sponsoring me? Thanks so much for your reply!

Jof_1999 1st May 2013 17:03

I am by no means an authority but as far as I know NATS will not sponsor anyone for a visa. There are more than enough people in the UK and EU that are already eligible to work in the UK so there are more than enough applicants. If you are eligible to live and work in the UK already then NATS will accept your application. Sorry I cant say anything more positive for you.

As I said I am not an authority so someone else may know a way round things.

bigmak 2nd May 2013 01:11

Hi, does anyone know when the next course (after the one in May) will start for the current batch of applicants?

Jof_1999 2nd May 2013 16:17

Bigmac,

The date for the next course has not been decided yet by NATS. I think they still have places on the May course so they will fill them first and then allocate the next course based on the state of the training system further down the line.

I am waiting for that date as I cannot make the May course.

Jof

bigmak 4th May 2013 22:35

Thanks Jof - and let's hope it's not too far away!

747BOLT 8th May 2013 10:08

Bit annoyed...

After applying in March, I started my application and was accepted.

I then passed the online test and was invited to an assessment day. I emailed HR for some assessment dates so I could book myself in.

I was then told that due to the new application process, I would need to start the whole application again. This means I might not even get through the very first stage where you send your CV etc.

Understandably the new process is going online etc but for those who had already started the process (Such as me) it is very annoying and will be very unfair if I don't get selected this time!! :hmm:

Famzy 8th May 2013 18:46

If you managed to get through the first online test from the previous application process, you should be able to nail this one fairly easily. Besides, they don't even ask for a CV:)

FlyingBlindUK 10th May 2013 18:07

Gosh. Recently done the Stage 0 - Online Test. Verbal was okay, error checking was sweet as honey but I got destroyed at the mathematical aspect. It honestly wasn't hard but with the time limit you'd be hard pressed to get even your ABCs right. From what I've gathered I need to wait a week for a reply.

Did anyone else struggle with this stage thinking they didn't do so well only to pass?

Edit: Did you guys dress smart/casual or go in a full on suit for the interview?

747BOLT 15th May 2013 12:23

Famzy - You were right. I was accepted straight away once I reapplied.

I have just completed the Stage 0 part of the application. As 'FlyingBlindUK' said, I found it really tough.

Verbal comprehension - Wasn't too bad but I did panic towards the end as the time was counting down.

Numerical comprehension - Probably the hardest thing I have ever done in my life! Even if the time limit was extended, the questions are designed in such a confusing way only people who are really sharp with their numbers would probably do well on this section. I guessed pretty much every question.

Error checking - I completed 5 out of 8 questions and then the time limit ran out. The ones I answered I am certain were correct though I'm not sure if 5/8 is enough.

I am pretty confident in saying that I have failed. I didn't know how hard the numerical part would be. I revised using internet examples, did loads of practice questions and even had a strong coffee beforehand but it was still really difficult. If you are yet to do it, I would sharpen up on knowing your percentages and how to find information within a bar chart, then working out figures like 18% of 2800 all within a few seconds.

Ahhh well - It just means I can apply for ramp agent jobs until I re-apply at a later date! Good luck to everyone, you'll need it

FlyingBlindUK 15th May 2013 16:55

Don't be too hard on yourself BOLT. Unless they tell you you've failed you keep refreshing that damn inbox! It's been a week now and I have yet to see a reply. I hope this is a good thing, haha. Good luck to you too BOLT.

ollie999 16th May 2013 09:08

My experience for what it is worth is that I found the stage 0 tests relatively easy. The stage 1 tests were more difficult and I did some work for these using online resources. Thankfully passed and now on an assessment day. Best of luck to those of you who are applying also.

Danny212 17th May 2013 11:11

@ollie999 How long after submitting your stage 0 test did you find out the result of it?

AdamOliver 17th May 2013 15:21

Hey Danny, it took me just over a week to get my results.

Danny212 17th May 2013 17:14

Cheers Adam! I look forward to hearing back from them. I think it went quite well. Just didn't have enough time to answer the last question on Error Checking so guessed it. Everything else went well I THINK :)
