So finally sat and completed the online testing tonight. Anyone have any idea how long it took for Airservices to let them know whether they'd passed or failed?
I kept in contact with one person who's been very helpful. She quoted it took 5 weeks for Airservices to update her on the outcome... |
Testing
Hi all,
What we're people's thoughts on the testing? Anyone not yet completed it? |

I completed the online testing and checked on Thursday night - my message had changed to something along the lines of "you have been invited to complete the OPQ testing". When I logged back in on Friday, it had changed back to "Under Review".
I think that maybe with the mix-up with the link and the extension from the Wednesday to the Thursday deadline that there might have been some issue in the internal system. Hoping that we hear something soon! Good luck everyone else |
Hi folks,
I checked online, my application status went from 'Online Testing Completed - under review' to just 'Online Testing Completed'. Anyone know if this is good, bad or nothing important? |
My one was never under review...it has been showing completed with a message saying..."you will be invited to the next stage of Opq's assessment in the next few weeks. Please ensure your email address is updated and correct."
no clues how long gotta wait though ..someone in this thread wrote 5 weeks 😂 |

Does your still say "under review"? I checked mine and it says "online testing completed". Whether this is any indication of passing, I do not know.
This is the same message that I saw on Thursday evening, so hopefully it is an indication of passing, guess we'll see via email. |

Mine also says testing complete and when I view my application there is a message saying I'll be invited to compete the OPQ assessments within the next few weeks.
This is the same message that I saw on Thursday evening, so hopefully it is an indication of passing, guess we'll see via email. My previous application from some years ago states 'Application Outcome', when I view application for that one it states something about reviewing the email they sent me. I am quietly confident it is a good sign. Airservices recruitment seem pretty on the ball with the whole process and maintaining records and if you read the comment it seems pretty clear (verbal reasoning anyone?). Is there anyone on here that has applied who can see something different? |
Thanks but did they just take out the phone interview stage? Or is it still there. Their website doesn't mention anything about the phone interview.
|
They definitely removed the phone interview for the last few rounds of recruitment (instead they had an in person interview on the assessment day in Melbourne).
|
Assessment Centre
No email, but I received a call, brief phone interview and off to the assessment centre at the end of the month. How did everyone else go?
|
Was the call from a private number out of curiosity?

That's interesting that you haven't done the OPQ yet. Is this the 2nd time you've applied and thus completed the OPQ sometime in the past?

Across 2 forums, yours is so far the only report of any feedback or progress after the online testing. So now you've just made everyone even more anxious than they were already :p *goes and checks phone and email another 7 times * |

I am not sure if there are any "changes" as such to the testing. But the type of questions for each domain MIGHT change. For instance, one could study spatial tests with 3d cubes (because they used these in the test on the applicant's first attempt) only to end up with a different spatial test using rotated shapes, if that makes sense.
If you're not aware already, the tests involve verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning, numerical calculations, spatial reasoning and checking tests. On successful completion of this, you will be invited to complete the OPQ (occupational personality questionnaire). To my understanding, you will only go to the assessment centre if you pass both the Online Ability Assessment and OPQ. Feel free to PM me and I'll link you some of the sites I am doing practice tests with. You can’t use the Private Messaging system, add url links or images until you have an established posting history. |

Airservices
I didn't get through either.
Pretty gutted considering I was apparently at the next stage. Good luck to everyone who has made it to the next stage. |

Thanks CapnCoastie, kusinka and Chopz. Sorry to hear that some have missed out, hopefully you can be successful in the future. The Assessment Centre testing sounds a little daunting...

I don't mean to sound like a sore loser here, but does anyone else get the feeling that this intake was a sham?
Something gives me the impression that this was a tiny intake of very few candidates where in comparison to previous intakes, only a tiny percent progressed beyond the online testing. Looking over previous intakes through this thread, it seems that there are large numbers being invited to the assessment day and this time, only a couple. It is also odd that they had an intake barely 6 months from the last, when previously they have been every 12 or 18 months. It is also bizarre that they gave only 48 hours to do the test and have seemingly invited candidates to the assessment day without even doing the OPQ test. I feel as if I have wasted a chance by applying for this sham intake rather than one of the 'proper' ones they have done previously. |

There was a telephone 'interview' when that was actually taken away. It seems it was a wasted opportunity for most people. The problem I have is that Airservices Australia will have a ****eload of people applying. I don't think it's matters to them how much of a sham the recruitment process is. Considering that it seems so many don't make it through the training academy that they would actually look at their recruitment process. |
Forgot to add they have progressed people who haven't actually even completed the phone interview even.
It's pretty bizarre. |
Hi All,
First of all, well done Jazzycab on your offer to attend the training centre. I also got a call on the 12th of July asking me to attend, but unfortunately due to my state with work at the moment I can't (doing it in the September intake instead) I don't remember having to do an OPQ, so I'm assuming the interview on the day will work determine your personality? The lady I spoke to said there were over 2000 applicants, so to get an invite to the assessment centre was never going to be easy (I think only 50 odd make it that far, as previous posts hint that only 10 or so people get invited per day?). |

I forgot to ask when I was on the phone, did she happen to mention if they're readvertising in September making the assessment centres likely in October/November or if the centres are definitely running in September? |

Good work too!!! She called this the July intake, so I’m going to crudely assume that the September intake will have their testing day first week of October. |

We were a part of the July intake, so the testing for the September intake by deduction should be the start of October. More than happy to bump into like minded people! |
September intake dates released, week starting Monday 17/9 (I'm on the Monday).

Application Update
Hi ThirstyVessel, Mine says application update (possibly because I booked in an assessment centre time yesterday over the phone but now I’m waiting on an email link to come through this week to confirm and get further details etc.) I didn’t check my profile last week because I was under the impression it took them ages to inform people they reached the next stage, so it came as a surprise when I got the call. Sorry if that doesn’t really help you and all the best, Andrew |

Yes I picked it over phone, they said they’d send me email confirmation by the end of the week, so I’m expecting it tomorrow |
I ended up getting a phone call today to come to the assessment day so it seems like the 'application update' doesn't mean that much. Even when I go into view application, it doesn't have any more info.
I guess the only update you don't want is 'application outcome' by the sounds of previous threads |
Good Work!! What a roller coaster of emotions you would have been going through! I’m assuming September dates? |

She's said that they're sort of reserving the Monday and Friday for interstate people as much as possible. So melb peeps and I'm assuming nearby East coasters would be getting calls this week and next? I dunno..
