Hello,
I'm processing step by step through the recruitment process, but any idea if we will be requested to go down under before an offer is made... And is the medical stuff possible to check in Europe ?

They will provide a letter of offer if they want you. You won't be required to go down under beforehand. If offered you will have plenty of time to acquire your medical through CASA approved medical facilities/individuals in Europe. A complete list of approved facilities/individuals is on CASA's homepage.

Hi all, I tried to wade through the collective agreement and wasn't quite sure about things. Just curious what a controllers actual take home would be making 180k. Also wonder if anyone hired as an experienced controller will start at the bottom with vacation time? What is starting vacation time? Is it possible to feel confident when booking vacation time that it will be honoured? Any help appreciated!

Hi all,
Can someone who has joined as experienced ATCO with ASA in past, throw some light on the conversion course for eg. its duration and how tough or easy it was. Also, what is the success rate of the conversion course and the final rating

As for success, it was pretty rare (I can't think of any) for an international to be unsuccessful. Most if the failures were from Ex Australian air force converts.
I'm pretty confident the process will be pretty similar today. Something Airservices does very well is training.

I delivered a few conversion courses about 18 years ago and at that time the answer to your question is. 'it depends'. We would do a training needs analysis and the initial course was specifically based on the differences from where you came from. Usually less than 4 weeks. Following that it was group specific simulation of about 6 weeks the field training of 2-3 months. The hardest part for people was usually learning to feed the machine as Eurocat is pretty complex and you would get a very thorough presentation over 9 days.

They've had an advert out since September taking expressions of interest from qualified ATCOs from abroad, they explain in the advert that it's not currently possible to join ASA as an expat but they are exploring options to take on experienced ATCOs in the future. They do not, however, provide any time scale for this.
