Hi

I'm new to here, please be nice

So I have passed the SHL online test, and have an invite to Stage 1, for which i have to go to Bournemouth, Prestwick or Hampshire. All of which are 5 hours away from Manchester. Good start for me

I am curious really as to whether anyone has used the SkyTest software (SkyTest) for NATS screening preparation? What are your opinions?

Also, are all the tests multiple choice, the numeracy one or ATC knowledge one?

I'll assume we don't get calculators for the numeracy one? Do we get scrap paper to write things down?

I'm a bit nervous and need to do lots of speed/distance/time calculations and other mental maths problems (which i haven't used since secondary school)!

Thanks

Joe.

To all those who now have there start date, when did you all find out that you had been accepted? It just seems they've asked me to wait a ridiculous amount of time before I start

I passed stage 3 in March, and medical shortly after. Was originally 225 Area - November, now 226 Aerodrome - January. There is quite a back log on getting people started. Someone on the same interview day as myself has been put back until November 2011.

And I don't know what to make of the college moving issue, like people have suggested, that they may not start a course that runs over the summer as they will have to move people mid course.... but who knows!

I would just hold tight and see what happens, seems they might get you allocated sooner than you think.

226 aerodrome

Sean, good lad for sorting out that FB group!..Ive just joined.
I have no idea what im going to do regards living etc but i heard NATS sends you a list of available accommodation. I imagine if we get a few people who are starting at the same time to join the group then we'll sort something out nearer the time.
cheers,
Craig

Accommodation

Hey Onestep ,

I'm on the same course as you ,

Accommodation wise NATS do send you out information on that but my information I got from them was backdated to 2008 so I'm not sure what its like now!

I'm looking to house share really, we can see how many of us are on the FB group and decide from there what everyone wants to do.

SHL online test

Hi all!

Well I've finally got my application through to NATS, and was asked to take the SHL online tests. Not what I was expecting...I thought they would be about me, they were last year!

Anyway, I have just completed it, but there was no finish screen, so to speak; I was just taken to a NATS website.

Is this right? Or is it possible that my test didn't go through properly?

Thanks in advance

Hi everyone! It's my first post here. After months of patience, I have finally been allocated to the Aerodrome 226 Course. I was wondering if there is anyone else on the same course

Carlos Beneto

Myself and two others (OnEsTeP & Scrotchidson) further down the page there are on the same course allocation as you.

We are all on FaceBk. There is a group set up for our course if you want to join it, it's called "NATS 226 Aerodrome"

Sean.

Start Date

I was accepted in June, passed my medical in July. I was originally told January, then July and now November. Its a fair wait but I suppose I'll just need to get on with it until then. Hopefully something does come up before then though

Does anyone know what the breakdown is of the course as far as holidays and breaks go? Do you get any time off at Christmas? I have just added a Face book group for NATS 228 Aerodrome too so anyone allocated to that course can join.

Hey man, I done the stage 1 the other day and yes there are some fuel calculations. But mostly speed/distance/time questions.

I done alot of practise on this site: Speed Distance Time | OASC: RAF Officer and Aircrew Selection Centre

You need to get nice and speedy at doing these calculations but for the numerical test you do get some scrap paper for doing rough working on.

56/96 x 36 = 21kgs/hr

1nm = 1.15miles

hope this helps....

Reapplication

I reapplied in July, having got all the way through to the interview last year. I recieved the automated "thanks for your application" email, but haven't heard anything since, I've tried replying to said email, but haven't recieved anything.

What is the sequence when reapplying, is it different from the first time through?

Is there a contact number at all, because I'd like to talk to someone, instead of sending emails?

Cheers,

Paul

I applied just over a week ago and received an email from HR the next day advising me that my details had been forwarded to the Medical Department for consideration. This was due to the fact that i wear glasses and had to have my prescription checked.

I received another email this morning with a link to the online selection test which i've completed so i'm now waiting to hear the results of this. Does anyone know how long this usually takes?

Good evening people,

I have only just found this forum and have been reading through the thread and have found it great. Just had a few questions/queries that hopefully some of you can advise me on.

I applied to be a trainee air traffic controller at the end of last month and was offered to attend the stage one assessment. This is at Prestwick on October the 8th. Can't wait!

I have read all the reading material over and over so it gets in my head! Do I need to know all of the aircraft specs? What particular questions do they ask you on the material, is there a certain part of it i should be studying?

I believe that they test you on this material, mark it, and if you don't do well send you packing, and if you do well, let you take the next tests. I am quite confident with the basic checking and diagramming, but not so confident on the spatial reasoning. Are there any ways to practice this on-line, I also wouldn't mind practising speed, time and distance calculations on-line.

Any other hints/tips are appreciated, nervous time, I can't believe I made it this far!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sam
