Isn't there supposed to be 3 and 1/2 737s for the summer? Also, if there is a B752 to be based at EDI (according to BAA's programming of the EDI-PRG route), then could this a/c be the 1/2?

Totally agree about the new routes. Wish an airline would take a risk and start more services form the airport. Anymore information on the F50 operator?

silverhawk has already confirmed that there will be no 757s at BLK this Summer, only 733s! Take a read again at what he wrote. He knows officially, so his figure will be correct.

Planned aircraft are B733s at EDI so not sure where BAA are getting B752 from! Plans can always change though...

I was just going by the EDI website.

Indeed, I know they have BGY down as B752. But slots seem to suggest otherwise.

Very surprised to hear the BLK - TFS service continuing. Great news for the airport if this is true. Is there anymore info on this?

I was just mentioning about the 3rd permently based 733 at BLK. Try and fit a Sunday schedule into 3 aircraft. not possible unless a 'w' route is flown on one of the routes from one of the other bases like the current BFS - PRG - BLK - PRG - BFS.

Very intersting months coming ahead. All will be revealed on March 25th!

Thanks for info on tenerife flights, sSilverHawk, will wait a couple more weeks before looking to book from man/lpl, would rather support the local airport , has always been good when flown from there, with friendly staff, and since the revamp, not that bad an airport, certainly better than the tin shed that was paphos aiport when i went there 4 years ago, reus airport was bit of a shed too 3years ago , compared to them blk is miles ahead..

Neway any more info on tenerife flights would be greatfully recieved so can book asap :p :p :p

Looks like BLK airport will be starting their own ground handling services from the airport from S07. Wierd, as I have been accepted to work there with Servisair from OCT!

Wikipedia says that TOM will be withdrawing the ALC flights. I know this is a free edit site, but is there any truth in this?

TOM timetable on website shows operations next winter though.

Wounder what is going to happen. Daily ALC flight in the summer from LS may mean the end of TOM at BLK next winter.

EZE at BLK
 

We often see EZE at BLK either doing ILS or on charter (as yesterday and today), could we see a service from them to Norwich or Inverness?

They stopped the MAN-Norwich route because of the BE competition, but could a daily BLK-Norwich route work?

Any comments? Anybody think of any new routes or new airline at the airport?

Agree with the last post & I have to say that any EZE service ex BLK to NWI or INV will lose out to the BE service from MAN in the case of NWI & the FR service ex LPL in the case of INV because of Easterns high fares. £30 rtn to INV in a 738 or £200 - 300 rtn in a J41 which would you choose even bearing in mind the cost & hassle of a drive to LPL? The average punter is prepared to travel to get a cheap flight!!
On the subject of new routes LS to CDG, LEI & ACE would be great as would FR to MAD, who knows?
Nobody should grumble, just think back to this time 5 years ago in 2002 when the only scheduled services were to IOM by Flykeen after the Comed & Platinum fiascos.

P.S Any more news on the F50 operator?

gms1991, I think you are tad optimistic about everything to do with BLK.

Just because an airline is doing a charter from BLK does not mean it’s considering scheduled services from the airport. Eastern operate regular charters from Hawarden for example, and they have done for several years but that doesn't mean they are going to start scheduled services from Hawarden!

BLK-NWI wouldn't work.

Hey...just a thought. Airlines will be planning for the winter 07/08 season now, especially LS, who usually bring out their seats before other airlines.

Would love to see BLK-MAD, but isn't it already served by EZY from LPL and BA/IB from MAN? Would this be too much competition. But as nick b says, cheaper flights will draw more passengers, and FR are certainly cheaper than BA, and alot of the time EZY.

Would be surprised if the ACE flight was announced. LS havn't announced the summer LBA flights to the airport. LEI could very well be the next destination - LS serve alot of airports along the coast of Spain and Portugal from BLK, and this one would add nicely. Twice weekly?

I would LOVE to see CDG and BGY from BLK. These would work brilliantly with the current city destinations like AMS and PRG.

BLK has alot of international flight. I just hope something comes of the F50 operator and can make BLK more of a domestic airport aswell.

Eastern already operate to Manchester from Inverness so to do Blackpool as well would be overkill, not enough full fare paying punters for that one.

Now that would be great for me,living in Nwi and parents and sis in Blk such a nightmare of a drive so don't get up there much saying that i'll be there next week cheering on the POOL.
If Blackpool gets the casino you never know there may be a lot of routes into Blackpool Nwi one of them i hope.
I'd like to add that Blackpool tourism should be doing the rounds and encourageing pax in, not out.So get out there and get them punters in

Taking the micky? It does it itself... It certainly doesn't anymore! Fastest growing regional airport, new terminal, largest LCC airline in Europe, Best airline in Europe, lots of S07 routes, 2 1/2 based S07 a/c.

Just shows how City Hopper have put alot more effort into the airport compared to the council. Imagine what the airport would be like if the were still in charge?! Urrgh!

With the announcement of the new casino on Tuesday, could BLK be looking at a huge rise in pax figures by the end of 2008?

If the casino is given to Blackpool, then big carrier could start to arrive at the airport - AF, LH, IB and even BA. If the casino is to attract people from all around Europe, if not the world. BA will want a slice of the action when the Olympics come to town.

Imagine the connections at LHR, CDG and FRA!!!

I read the Telegraph on Friday. The paper had a major section on the new casino, and said that Blackpool airport would benefit greatly from the casino, with major airline being interested in the future rise in traffic.

Maybe abit carried away about some of the carriers, but with the only major casino in UK, and will surely attract many rich people from around Europe, who wouldn't be seen dead on Ryanair or any other LC carrier. The people who are too snobby to realise how good LC airlines are.

I know that many of the visitors will use MAN where the national carriers are alot greater, but surely there will be one of these carriers will see the demand of these people, and take advantage.
