Does anybody know how well the routes are doing out of Blackpool?,Are Jet 2 happy with them, personally hope there doing well, but would still like to see another carrier in there, just to spread the flights out, incase like monarch did, and up and left,

john11 24th November 2006 15:32

does anyone have any of the figures of the loads for any flights?

do you think they would/could get transatlantic flights?

Wonkavater 24th November 2006 17:59

According to an article in the local rag, Boeing's 787 is stated as being capable of doing transatlantic routes from shorter runways. Been on the Boieng website and couldn't find any projected performance data for it. I would have thought it would have to be seriously light airframe and an incredibly efficient wing to make transatlantic flights off a 1870 metre runway commercially viable.

rufus.t.firefly 25th November 2006 09:11

This sounds like the usual marketing and PR guff.

Dont suppose the paper said the airport ramp , taxiway and runway could cope with the weight of a 787 ??? doubt it , no point in having a runway or operating area that is already worn thin.

Didn't something sink into some tarmac this summer on the ramp ........

Landed at Blackpool last night and to say the landing was interesting would be an understatement , I reckon their are a couple of dints in the runway were the wheels hit the deck last night ............... mind you well done to the crew :D :D for getting the bird down in far from ideal flying conditions !!!

take-off 25th November 2006 16:27

Well way its goin, you're be lucky to land on the runway if they park up anymore old Emerald Planes on it !!!! Gives a whole new meaning to airport parking i spose? Agree yesterday was very windy... had it of blown any stronger ,could of used the dog as a kite!!!(hes a Yorkshire Terrior:E :E !!)

I think Monarch pulled out of BLK, Because they couldn't be bothered anymore.

They went in there like 'Lightning' and then led BLK Airport up the Garden Path.

We did they commit to BLK in the first place, If they didn't intend to give it time to materialise?

I have heard Jet2 are putting another 757 on for Summer 2007?

Probably because Jet2.com already serve Amsterdam, and there's probably not the requirement for more seats.

Just noticed on Jetrhos site that BNWA have ceased trading as of 16DEC06 (but to be confirmed). Can anyone confirm this?

touch&go 18th December 2006 14:34

SM82 I posted the same thing on here last night and my thread was closed and moved to page 2, that did I do wrong?, just posted some news which I thought was welcome on this site, I see that when you click on BWNA web site it diverts to the manx2 site, what wrong with reporting this, have they joined forces or been taken over?, please please tell me if I have broken any house rules I would like to know, I am a sensible poster on here and wish to continue as so.

BLACKPOOL AIRPORT FLIGHT INFO NOW UPhttp://www.blackpoolinternational.com/live-flight

YES TOOK ABOUT 8 MONTHS BUT FINALLY THE FLIGHT INFO FOR BLACKPOOL AIRPORT IS UP

http://www.blackpoolinternational.com/live-flight.php

gms1991 19th December 2006 12:53

Currently in Barcelona, flying out on Sunday (17/12) and returning tomorrow (20/12). I flew from BLK, and saw the BNWA aircraft on the apron. I assumed that a replacement a/c was operating the flight, obviously not true! Shame to see them leave, but I hope BPS all the luck in the world!

Concerning the LS DUS route. There are currently three aircraft based with large gaps in the schedule still to fill. There are eight flight leaving on a Sunday to all of the destinations, yet not all these flights can be filled into a three aircraft schedule. This leads me to believe that a fourth a/c is needed at the airport. If a fourth a/c arrives, this will mean even more destinations will need to be added because of the gaps now available. Paris, Milan, Geneva? Wold love to see a 752 based for the busy weekend city rush, and weekday sun flights - would make perfect sense!

Upon returning, I will have videos and picks at both BLK and GRO, available for email.

P.S. Love the BLK airport. Used it for the first time since revamp, as I usually opt for MAN or LPL!

^Next Day
*Dusseldorf flights have not been confirmed yet, but have been applied for by Jet2.

Also, Aircraft 4 has not been confirmed, but is more than likely to be introduced if the DUS flights are to operate.

As you can see, there a gaps from 11:15 every day except sunday, which means maybe another route such as Paris or Cork. Also, there are no operations for aircraft 3/4 on Tuesdays or 4 on Wednesdays, could this mean even more routes?!:D

682ft AMSL 21st December 2006 19:11

gms1991 - the experience of Jet2 to date tells us that

a) their schedules will not look like those of EZY, RYR etc in terms of utilisation. Don't expect tight schedules and aircraft being flogged between 6am and the early hours. Do expect lot's of gaps, lot's of long turnarounds and aircraft sitting around on off peak days doing nothing.

b) when they apply for overseas slots for new routes, the UK airport they register at the time generally has litte bearing on what they are actually planning to do with the slot. The one thing that listing 'BLK' as the UK end of a slot pair in DUS can pretty much guarantee is that there is no intention to fly a BLK-DUS route. There are a bucket load of slots for Spain and Portugal that were listed as originating from BLK, BOH and, to prove the point, SZD!

I'm no closer to their plans than you, so it's all speculation at the end of the day, but personally I would be suprised to see much more flying from the 3 a/c operation listed above nor would I expect DUS to be anything to do with BLK.

gms1991 22nd December 2006 19:04

Thanks for the replies.

I am well aware of the slack in the schedules, having been seen the aircraft remain at the airport every Wednesday until 17.00!

Also, if you look at the current Sunday schedule planned for SO7, there are too many flights to fit into a 3 aircraft schedule, meaning that a fourth aircraft is certainly needed, unless one of the flight schedules is changed to similar of the current Sunday Prague rotation, where the aircraft performs a 'W' route (Belfast - Prague - Blackpool - Prague - Belfast). That would be the most sensible idea, but surely it would have been organised by now?

Hopefully, we do see some more routes for S07, and maybe another a/c based at the airport!
