Let’s hope we hear something positive this week , Lot of talk in the press how this tackling dammed virus is going to change the chancellors budget plans due to the massive sums involved in tackling this thing ....

Doubtless he will use this current panic and cost of fighting this threat to mankind as a reason not to abolish Pax duty

As a side note I feel it may just be worth a mention that VHF4 appears to have been the latest online incarnation of a very bitter and persistent person who believes they have some beef with the company. Many staff and crew will know of, or have heard in passing about this individual. They have long been a source of amusement but there does come a time when a line is crossed.

For gods sake Does it really matter what a disgruntled X employee
Writes on here it’s not going to make a half pennies worth of difference to the outcome
What is going to make a big difference is this current virus it’s okay for companies like easyJet who have massive cash reserves but for a company like ours which is staring into the abyss it could prove Devastating we need a cash injection now more so than ever and we need to be putting pressure on our MPs to obtain this rant over

The most sensible piece of advice I've seen on Covid-19 to date. Shame the media, governments and the WHO won't heed it.

Im guessing maybe he is a ex employee who has a beef , However there are hell a lot of people in our industry who do feel flybe should not be given state aid , i think fllybe is actually a special case , but i can see other people’s points of view who may feel differently .

If your a ex Thomas Cook person for example you might feel a little aggrieved nothing was done as it was in Germany to,save your job .

The difference between Thomas Cook and Condor was that Condor was making money and just needed a bridging loan. Thomas Cook wasn't making money.

Not true at least as far as the UK airline was concerned.

But the holiday company was trying to service the debt.

Im rapidly losing confidence in the grown ups at board level , I’m hoping the government will see fit to take us into some kind of public ownership to ensure far flung corners of the UK continue to be served

It reads as if he gave an honest answer to a question he was asked, would Aer Lingus Regional be effected by the liquidation/administration of flyBe? Its not an unreasonable question or answer. IT seems that airline bookings have fallen off a cliff, as more and more companies suspend (non-essential) travel. Google in Dublin has ordered 8,000 workers to work from home today, for example. BA and Ryanair have cancelled flights and BA revised refund policies for new bookings (but not existing ones - presumably they would like to keep the cash in the business). Hopefully flyBe will be less effected as a predominantly domestic airline, but they are presumably much less resilient to any reduction in cashflow than the likes of IAG, Ryanair and easyJet groupings.

The problem is Flybe have always lived on cash injections and handouts. If I held 3 fingers up that's more years on that one hand than Flybe have made money as a stand alone airline in the last 15 years or so, this cannot continue. How many more handouts is it going to want before radical change happens? Something has to change and it has to change fast because even if the government gives them yet another handout how long before that money dries up and they come begging for more? It can't continue like that and as an employee I wouldn't be hoping for the best, I'd be hoping I'd land another job pretty sharpish.

I think HMG would be in a very difficult position regarding any taxpayers funding to support the airline in this thread - as it would, I think probably need to extend an offer to ALL UK airlines as ALL of them are seeing a rapid increase in no-shows and hesitancy on future bookings due to Covid-19.

No-one has a timeline on when the hysteria and panic will abate or when confidence will return to load factors - it's one thing maintaining schedules and slots, but if you are flying with 30% load factor, then you are onto a short term business plan with a limited lifeline - the fixed costs of the airline don't change, just the losses get bigger and irrecoverable.

If HMG does broadcast and go down the route of promoting 'Social Distancing' working from home if possible and avoiding unnecessary travel and forecasting this might be around till the summer then I think it would be foolish to think things will still be rose-tinted. At some point, common-sense needs to enacted by the management and the valuable staff communicated with for a 3-degree approach to a soft landing - rather than a double fan-stop and leaving the staff with no parachute!

Moving away from all the negativity here for a moment. Could someone please explain how Stobart is safe if Flybe collapses.
i understand they are or at least where their own stand alone airline with AOC and head office in Dublin.
However when Flybe was bought over did Stobart not hand over the Airline as capital to gain their 30%? share

I would imagine that as Flybe was purchased for next to nothing all that would be lost is the working capital injected. Connect would be kept separate and in no way would their assets be at risk by Flybe collapsing. However, Stobart presumably would be liable in some way to its partners for its share of the losses made in the venture.
