A speculative article maybe but these rumours have been ongoing for too long to not have any substance. What I fail to understand is how Connect would have carried out their due diligence on BE this time last year and must have realised the ongoing capital injection required and debt management needed. It seems they are not prepared to continue the type of investment required to run a regional airline and instead are taking a begging bowl to central government for APD deferral and a £100m loan. This I’m afraid is a sticking plaster solution and one I don’t believe the gov should commit too, albeit I agree with the need for continued support of regional connectivity, and it will surely only be until this loan runs out pretty quickly and we start the merry go round once again. At present the BE business model seems a mortally wounded beast and one wonders how much longer it can survive!

It all seems very smoke and mirrors now with Flybe. Has the bad press had any impact on passenger numbers or future bookings I wonder?

Will Flybe still be flying by the end of the week, especially if government funding doesn’t happen this week? It is sounding increasingly like VS would be more happy to make a short term loss than invest more money, Surely VS would have already announced significant additional investment by now if it is really serious about BE being a viable company. |

Please try to approach the topic honestly. A plane in its teens used for short daily domestic operations has a huge number of cycles on the airframe and is nothing like a plane crossing the Atlantic once a day or making a bucket and spade trip down to the south of Spain.

If you fleet consists almost entirely and will soon be pretty much entirely Q400 you can't afford to be skimping when the plane has a propensity to do things like this. |

You continue to infer that FlyBe is "skimping" on maintenance. SO PRESENT YOUR EVIDENCE. Your postings are increasingly irresponsible. Are you being paid for this campaign of deceptive negativity? Not only are FlyBe jobs at risk, but also those at many airports around the UK. At EXT, SOU and BHD in particular, FlyBe is by far the largest operator. |
"Irresponsible" is trading recklessly by not providing the funding promised when buying in to the company and letting the bills mount up.
It is too late now for those airports to market themselves to more financially stable airlines for the coming Summer season. A point made by another poster which I had not previously considered is even if they have not cut funding for maintenance any maintenance personnel leaving will probably not be replaced as no qualified candidate will risk their future on a company in such a precarious state. This could have been easily solved by the wealthy investors adequately funding the company when they seized control. |

I have asked the question. I have not made claims that maintenance has yet been sacrificed but if Flybe continues on its current trajectory I can't thank what else they can cut corners on except maintenance.
May I suggest your posts are highly irresponsible and recommend that you don't go further. I have no brief for FlyBe, much of it's problems have been self inflicted, but innuendo about it's safety does not help and perhaps the moderators should take notice of your posts. |
