BA (and their parent IAG) are anti LHR R3 on grounds of cost. |

Whether you find any other explanation or ulterior motive plausible or not depends on whether you believe the extra slots created will be taken up by Full Service carriers or the LoCos. But this is the wrong thread for this topic and I don't want to become the next victim of the purge. |
someone has posted some images of the proposed T2 work on the Skyscrapers forum if anyone is interested. No overall plans but interesting if you're looking to see some detail of the piers etc...

Is there a link to this forum?

Try this, if you want to post you have to join but no hassle and the whole site is very interesting

They are a series of B787 charters to Delhi from May according to several sources, about 4 return flights.

Quote: BA (and their parent IAG) are anti LHR R3 on grounds of cost. It's actually more to do with protecting their dominant market position. Like many things in life it's a double edged-sword. For BA, the increased airport charges will be offset (maybe more than offset) by savings in the costs of extra fuel required to queue up for take off and in holding patterns waiting to land. Costs associated with delays will be substantially reduced. Because of the size of its LHR operation this impacts on BA much more than on other carriers. The need to duplicate operations at LGW and LCY will be eliminated (although the business cases for some flights from there may remain). Maybe, although the stated reason is cost. Whether you find any other explanation or ulterior motive plausible or not depends on whether you believe the extra slots created will be taken up by Full Service carriers or the LoCos. Once the eye-watering costs of slots and the difficulties of conducting operations at 100% capacity are eliminated, other full service and no frills carriers and holiday companies may well be interested, after all, Heathrow is surrounded by a rich catchment area. U2 has already stated that, with a third rwy, it will operate a base at Heathrow-4. But none of this is a threat to Ringway in any way, despite what some posters on this thread may state. Frank,
I would love to engage with the points you have made but fear that one of us (probably me) would end up victims of the purge. You - beacuse this is not your "normal" forum (I sympathise because the standard of debate on the Heathrow forum has recently descended into childlike fantasy mixed in with some rather more unsavoury stuff). Me - because I don't agree with LHR expansion at any cost - which seems to be against (presumably unofficial) pprune policy. Sorry to disappoint. Have a good weekend. Dobbo |
Turkish Airlines will not be bringing back the 3rd daily flight next summer.
We know Turkey is having issues but it doesn't make the news any easier. |
SN are going back to swissport 1st nov.
AC are 6 days a week, same as this year. whilst the start date is 1st of june this may yet change and come forward. pk transit flight on a friday will be interesting though, with 3 flights in at around the same time. from what i have heard it may be going to Germany but to Frankfurt not Leipzig. |
Phil,
Air Canada rouge is currently bookable as daily from 30th June on all platforms. |
BA said today they were in favour of the 3rd runway as long as there is a cap on charges. State they are against paying any extra to use it.

The biggest loser from the Heathrow expansion is everyone outside the M25 - the north deserves better - Andy Burnham - Mirror Online
There's a debate going on abut a runway Manchester ..anybody in ? |
Andy Burnham is a candidate for the Mayor of Manchester, and a Labour one at that, so I wouldn't expect him to say anything else.
As far as MAG is concerned I suspect they are quietly pleased that the Government has opted for the most undeliverable proposal of all. The pollies and lawyers will still be arguing the toss about LHR R3 long after MAN's terminal redevelopments have been completed. |
True but maybe other MPSs and Media should have spoken up as well rather than giving the S EAST a free run.
