Well I seem to have escaped the purge despite sharing many of the views and concerns of those no longer with us.

There's an interesting post on another forum with a reminder that the original runway debate was about airport capacity in the UK generally, which got morphed into a focus on requirements in the SE and then a remit for the Davies Commission which seemed to emphasise retaining the UK's hub status.

Anyway, back to matters MAN. It is the start of the half term holidays for some, but nevertheless, it was good to see based on the seat plans this morning that all 6 departures by US carriers were showing over 90% full. What it means in terms of yields will depend on the fares paid of course but my general impression is that loads have held up rather better in October than in Spring and early summer. Maybe eventually we'll find out from the CAA stats.

It's good to look in and see only things relevant to the airport rather than a broad political overview of any economic activity the North West and how that May or may not affect the airport. And all the gripes about government spending. Possibly interesting once, but not when constantly repeated.

I would doubt if LAX has been banned by the Mods. LAX are you still here buddy?

Hi Spanners

LHR_LAX is not banned but is unable to post. It is nothing to be concerned about.

Cheers

Well this is plain censorship I am off elsewhere.

This is my last post . Will view only .

What a disgrace on a public forum.

Such a drama queen!

LA and a few others have likely got a ban for a few weeks and will be posting again in future.

All I will say is my god, dread to think what May announces this week and how it will go down with one or two others......the ban might be a blessing.

paully 15th Oct 2016 19:59

What`s a disgrace??..I have sympathy for the Mods who have a difficult unpaid job..Those who sought to be voluble, dismissive and unable to post in less than a thousand words were warned by the Mods and the thread was locked. It was started again and those involved were warned, but took no heed. They seemed to think their socio economic views were imperious and not to be questioned were subsequently burned.

At the end of the day their train set, their rules..either comply or get thrown off......simples..stop whinging...Well done Mods some of us like a firm hand on the tiller

SilverCityKid 15th Oct 2016 20:59

The Moderators are to be congratulated in their action of banning some of the most verbose & abusive posters.

Many of us are just interested in what is going on at Manchester Airport and really do not want to read all the drawn out arguments about who is right and who is wrong.

Let's stick to posting rumours and facts (where available) about what is happening or expected to happen at our favourite airport - MAN

Una Due Tfc 15th Oct 2016 22:53

Honestly I skipped all the posts about trains, Heathrow, north vs south etc. I think a thread either in Airlines,Airports etc or Jet Blast reserved for those subjects would be perfect for them. Wish them all the best though and hope they return soon

sparkysam 15th Oct 2016 22:56

On the other hand i enjoyed the banter and views that were posted. Lets hope comments in the NEAR future will not be stopped.

Any news on the Terminal updates?

chaps1954 16th Oct 2016 07:47

Maybe running a bit late so I am told other than that I don`t know anymore

phil160 16th Oct 2016 08:13

if your meaning the terminal expansion, Laing O’Rourke have been awarded the construction contract for the t2 expansion and the demolition of t1. Laing O?Rourke bags £700m Manchester Airport project | Construction Enquirer looking at this work could start in the next few months.

Sadly another local bus route is being axed from the airport. After something like 40 years Edgeley, Cheadle Hulme and Heald Green will lose their 369 bus link to the airport. The airport is already over congested with cars and has one of the lowest uptakes of public transport of any UK airport.
I know people here bay for new services, but at times T3 drop off & terminal is gridlocked. Security has bottlenecks in all three terminals and its impossible to get into some of the airport lounges. So many of my recent visits have been chaotic. Maybe there should be a hold on new services until the infrastructure catches up?

eggc 16th Oct 2016 19:56

The 369 going !! No way. The only other bus from Stockport is the Buxton Trent 199 and there is no train or tram link either. Surely Stockport being so close cannot lose this service !!

Mr A Tis 16th Oct 2016 20:02

The 369 is chopped from 30th October. There will be 2 368s to the airport in the morning Mon- Fri, 4 x 368s on a Saturday & none on a Sunday thats it. (What logic is there in that?)
The 330 from Ashton is extended to the airport (and freight terminal), non stop from Stockport via M60 thus duplicating the existing 199 service.
So service is removed from one area to duplicate an existing route :ugh:

eggc 16th Oct 2016 20:06

That is a joke and very sad.

roverman 16th Oct 2016 22:34

Just to be clear, Laing O'Rourke do not have a contract to build the new terminal, no-one has. LO'R have been appointed to develop the design in anticipation of a MAG Board decision on the contract award early next year.
And it will not look like the accompanying pictures, they are a very out of date artist's impression from about 18 months ago.

Aegean will run a 4 weekly service from 20th June onwards, up from 3 weekly this summer.

-------------------

Vueling daily Barcelona from 7th April instead of 20th June. Will also use all A321 from 2nd July. Rome moves to morning flights and Tue Alicante moves to Wednesday.

The online timetable for Vueling teasing with based flight times, showing new routes to Seville, Palmero, Catania, Zurich and Santiago amongst others, but apparently these are errors.

-------------------

New Thomson route to La Romana next winter as the cruise ship that was based in Dubai now moves to Dom Rep. Santa Clara goes year round.

--------------------

Thomas Cook new 3 weekly to Cape Town, and 1 weekly each to Sanya and Mauritius next winter but not bookable yet.

--------------------

Potentially Shanghai getting announced this Friday with tickets on sale in the new year, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

--------------------

Antonov 124 due Wednesday for some outsized cargo.
