Think theyv'e had enough fun with the 75 theyv'e got now.

CAA prosecutions etc...

Long-haul is going freakishly well. YHM-GLA/LGW looking on time MAN-YYC,YVR was only half an hour late departing today. SFB held back only an hour or so and as you say it does have to go via BFS. Long may it continue!

GSM SCOT 13th Jun 2008 19:01

Delays

! And Its Friday The 13th !

timboab 13th Jun 2008 19:24

SFB flight was held up about 50 mins in glasgow. I think it was loaded on time, who knows the reason?

Lets hope they can keep delays to a minimum

Jimmy Riddle 13th Jun 2008 20:16

Sure....... we can do it....... I'd like to know when we're gonna get a few more skippers......and cabin crew......we can't stand this level of pressure......so much for the 5 on 4 off promised by the DFO.

GSM SCOT 14th Jun 2008 19:01

SBY'S - Delays

From 1st July cabin crew will have airport standby's to cover first flight's of the day so delays due to crew being called out will be a thing of the past.(In Theory) Lets see what happens from the 1st.;)

allanmack 14th Jun 2008 21:23

While checking the Flytecomm arrivals into PIK tomorrow picked this up.

Edinburgh, Scotland Flyglobespan 323A 06:43 PM Planned
Edinburgh, Scotland Flyglobespan 401A 07:03 PM Planned
Edinburgh, Scotland Flyglobespan 561A 07:03 PM Planned
Edinburgh, Scotland Flyglobespan 451A 07:23 PM Planned

What's all that about? Surely not four aircraft training at once? Mistake?

pikman747 14th Jun 2008 22:08

Apparently Edinburgh has a fuel shortage and these 4 flights were routing via Prestwick for this reason. In any event they must have got refuelled as all the flights continued direct.

BALLSOUT 14th Jun 2008 23:10

Fuel short at EDI and GLA. It's being trucked up from PIK as they have plenty.

4567 15th Jun 2008 17:00

How many a/c have GSM got based at EDI,GLA,ABZ & MME and what types of a/c?

luvly jubbly 15th Jun 2008 19:57

Yes I am sure that's what delayed it, cos I was on it!:ok:
We pushed back exactly on schedule at SFB, flew ETOPS at M.80 (econ) and still arrived an hour late into GLA this morning......... Methinks the schedules are too tight:{

GSM Scot...... I think the newly accepted union might put a stop to Airport Standby before it starts, as GSM provide no facilities for it. Telling the CC that they can "spend it in the terminal if they want to" is totally illegal!:ugh:

It is not totally illegal, airport standby is exactly that and your duty hours start as soon as you pitch up.

I think the one which is illegal is SPLIT DUTY, where the airline have to provide somewhere to rest away from all the hustle and bustle, noise etc

Nil further 16th Jun 2008 07:38

Doing something illegal has never been a problem for "Scotlands Award Winning Airline " in the past , shouldnt be a problem now.

Correct. A fair number of airlines use apt sby.

As the job market implodes, you might see some improvements in crew levels, but then again, they might lay guys off.

5 on 4 off. They still trotting that one out? You'll never see it, no matter what state the industry is in.

timboab 19th Jun 2008 15:42

can someone explain why the GLA-SFB-GLA flight has pretty much ran on time this past week or so--What has changed and made them fairly punctual??

Well done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

irishcc 19th Jun 2008 15:48

...Did the YYC-GLA go tech....??

Saw it parked yesterday at YYC - remote stand...engine cowlings open

webby1919 19th Jun 2008 17:28

Yes. B763 went tech over in Canada. Should pick up overnight with a 2 hour delay into MAN tomorrow.

SFB flights have all run on time so far. Most of the flights this week have been on-time or early.

4567 19th Jun 2008 17:40

Which 763 is operating the Canada flights?

Will the BFS-SFB be continued S09?

Any word on GSM getting new 737's to replace the 733's that will be going and the 2 736's that left and another 752?

Hamilton airport must be a base of somekind found these pictures of new offices:

Does it occur to you that your comments may be offensive to the people of Hamilton and those who work hard to make the airport a going concern? Do you even know where Hamilton is? Perhaps an apology is in order.

luvly jubbly 19th Jun 2008 20:51

Mid way between Toronto and the US border.... I wouldn't say it's remote!

It's like MME but with much prettier dispatchers:ok:;)

Skipness One Echo 19th Jun 2008 21:53

I've been. It's VERY remote but the Canadian Heritage Museum awesome!

james170969 19th Jun 2008 22:10

I have also been to Hamilton Airport long before Flyglobespan was even thought of. It is NOT very remote as some put it. It serves towns and cities such as Burlington, Hamilton, St Catherines and Niagara to name but a few. I have family who live in Burlington who find Hamilton Airport easier and quicker to get to than Toronto Pearson International. I do however, appreciate that some might find TPI easier and quicker to get to than Hamilton. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, a fact that some people seem to ignore.

paarmo 19th Jun 2008 22:22

MME Smog Monsters ?

I resemble that remark. I will have you know that Teesside (sorry I can't call it Durham Tees Valley ) is a picturesque airport with lots of open spaces clean air and an enviable record of never being closed because of smog related problems.
Of course we do have a slight problem with lack of traffic and late running GSM flights the best being a 26 hour delay from Malaga earlier this year. GSM could have bussed the passengers back quicker than they flew them.
Apparently a GSM flight did a low fly past over the tower last week in celebration of being on time.
I keep seeing the Globespan adverts saying they are an award winning airline. I am told it won an award some years ago as the best Scottish Airline.
It's a bit like the award for being the most famous Belgian.

On the other hand this one is remote

the_fish@blueyonder. 19th Jun 2008 23:11

Well I flew GSM on the SFB-GLA route on Monday and it was all on time and a very impressive service. I didn't expect to have drinks served every 30 minutes or so and certainly didn't expect to get 3 movies (they told us about 2 of them) and a breakfast aswell. The onboard comfort was surprisingly good aswell.

There were, I'd say, less than 100 people on my flight, the rear cabin where I was seated was probabaly only around 20% full at the very most and the other cabins didn't look very busy either, especially not Business Class. The boarding process took around 20 minutes as there were so few people they didn't bother calling us in row numbers, we all just went on in one group!

I'll definatly use this route again, the price is certinaly acceptable.

CabinCrewe 20th Jun 2008 15:54

Slightly concerning re pax numbers particularly as it gets close to Scottish schools break up. Less than half full in the summer. Doesnt bode well. I think the bad press of this carrier must surely have had an impact. I understand the short series Virgin flights to Orlando are almost fully booked. Strange contrast.....

webby1919 20th Jun 2008 16:34

GSM have won many awards, all on their website. They got an Award for Best Holiday Airline from SPAA in 2007.

The SFB flights normally have very high loads, but Monday may not be the busiest of days.

Sat 21st June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. 4 seats remaining Business 5 seats remaining Load: 97%
Sun 22nd June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. 5 seats remaining Business 8 seats remaining Load: 95%
Mon 23rd June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. 11 seats remaining Business 7 seats remaining Load: 93%
Tues 24th June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. 1 seat remaining Business 6 seats remaining Load: 98%
Wed 25th June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. 2 seats remaining Business 5 seats remaining Load: 97%
Thurs 26th June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. Sold Out Business 10 seats remaining Load: 96%
Fri 27th June: GLA-SFB:
Prem. Sold Out Business 5 seats remaining Load: 98%

Overall for next week very good loads. Can't really compare a short programme of flights operated by VS to GSMs daily flights for S08.

Might be Audrey Hepburn.:8

4567 20th Jun 2008 17:21

Flyglobespan never planned to use 737-800's on YHM in June and October did they? theres someone on a YHM forum sayin ghtey planned this but i thought the 752 was always to operate these flights.
It also says that Flyglobespan were looking for new 752's this year that i could believe and that there is a large shortage and they couldn't get a hold of them this year but hopefully next year.

webby1919 20th Jun 2008 17:47

The B752 is planned to operate YHM flights all Summer. There are plans to operate larger A/C next Summer for longhaul, so GSM must have plan to get more B763s and B752s.

luvly jubbly 20th Jun 2008 17:49

I hear some crew have 73H to YHM on roster for July......

whats happened to todays GLA-SFB?

webby1919 21st Jun 2008 14:27

B763 that operated SFB flight on FRI swapped to Canada flights today. G-CEOD will now operate the SFB flights and pick up time tonight at SFB. YYC/YVR flights will be operating back on time today.

timboab 21st Jun 2008 15:49

is it only 763's that fly the GLA -SFB route now???

How many 763's do they have???

webby1919 21st Jun 2008 16:24

3 B763s, 1 B752, 2 B733s, 2 B736s, 5 B738s, 2 B7NGs are full A/C fleet for GSM.

2 B733s will be leaving fleet next year.

2 B763s operate GSM schedules and 1 B763 operates for Air India for forseeable future. 1 B763 will return to AI Nov 08 for Winter. The other B763 will operate for another unknown airline, and further contracts like that are in pipeline for W08.

B752 operates YHM flights over S08, and will operate the SFB weekly flight along with other Shorthaul routes for W08.
