If I were Flyglobbie, given the disenchantment amongst many in Abdn just now (council, cutbacks, footie club, etc, etc) I would lay on more winter flights this year, soz folk can get the hell away from the place!! :E

simfly 16th Apr 2008 12:54

Had to rub my eyes several times last wed (9th) whilst awaiting my flight in Heathrow, when I saw a 767 in Globespan c/s taking off???? Anyone know why one was in LHR? Didn't expect to see one there.....

airhumberside 16th Apr 2008 13:10

Operating for Air India possibly?

webby1919 16th Apr 2008 14:26

I don't see GSm operating a full schedule for based A/C over W08. It's just too expensive when they can utilise the A/C elsewhere. Usual AGP and TFS should be retained for W08.

starbusuk 16th Apr 2008 15:12

Delays have been minimal and flight delays are improving. The B752 will operate until May 2008, and then the B763ER will take over as of 24th May.
Sooner than you think. I fly out GLA-SFB 29th April and back 10 days later. GSM emailed me recently to change my pre-booked seats and the seating plan they sent me for both flights was a B763...yay!:ok:

smith 16th Apr 2008 17:43

I have just booked to sfb on 29/4 and when going to pre-book my seat, the a/c layout is a 767 config 2-3-2. it won't however let me book a seat. Any idea if it is going to be a 75 or 76 or even 73. Can I expect a stop in Bangor as they are non etops? Incidentally only paid £249 rtn which will be a bargain if all goes well.

luvly jubbly 16th Apr 2008 18:27

G-CDPT and G-CEFG are painted in Air India colours. G-CEOD is painted in GSM livery.

G-CEOD is at LHR, operating for AIC whilst G-CDPT undergoes C check.

G-CEOD would be available to operate SFB route if G-CDPT gets back from check soon.

Operated to SFB via BGR in 757. Arrived in Orlando just 20mins behind schedule (non ETOPS). Direct back to BFS.

4567 17th Apr 2008 11:18

I see GSM have now changed the YHM flight from GLA & LGW to both SAT & WED im guessing it starts in LGW then via GLA.
Could they maybe be doubling MAN-YHM flights now that FRI are free?

More winter 08/09 flights released

2xWeekly Gran Canaria

TFS is actually daily from Glasgow.

Also, looks as though Summer schedule performing well and ahead of expectations, according to Rick Green, CEO of GSM.

LES353 17th Apr 2008 13:49

Has globespan got their ETOPS back todays flight from Glagow is now showing due in at 1.20pm instead of 3.00pm at Sandford!!!!!

fdw87 17th Apr 2008 14:59

yeah just seen that myself. fingers crossed!

fdw87 17th Apr 2008 15:01

just checked flytecomm, the flight doesnt appear to have stopped for a refuel even though its a 757, anyone able to explain?

webby1919 17th Apr 2008 15:08

Looks like we've got our etops back.

Flights released for W08:

GLA-ACE 2 weekly Thurs/Sun
ABZ-TFS Thurs departure - no W pattern - might have hope for based A/C.

fokkerplod 17th Apr 2008 16:46

no etops back yet!

ETOPS has not been re-instated, GSM725 also flew direct from gla to sfb on tuesday arriving 1hr ahead of schedule, due to favourable winds on the non-etops route. It did have to make a fuel stop in BGR on the return.

GSM725 today is also flying direct Non-ETOPS GLA-SFB

fdw87 18th Apr 2008 17:06

Not looking good on the SFB flight today looks like it hasn't even taken off yet and SFB website says "see agent" on the GSM arrival
Anyone no what has happened today?

afterdark 19th Apr 2008 04:00

would/should it be possible to put pax on a couple of 737-700's accross from GLA & BFS to BGR and return to help the route get back on track.

luvly jubbly 19th Apr 2008 06:48

And royally screw up the short haul programme?

poiuyt 11 19th Apr 2008 10:49

Couldn't agree more luvly jubbly, not to mention the ridiculous cost's involved. Once the 767 gets out the hangar im sure it will be better on the long haul scene.

CabinCrewe 19th Apr 2008 12:23

Delays probably due to horrendous headwinds....? Currently strong easterlies...

scotsunflyer 20th Apr 2008 19:04

GCDRA has gone back to SEN tonight from EDI.

Leaves just one B736 for service with two required. Not sure if GCDRA has gone for maint, or gone for good. B757 (GCEJM) will need to operate on the GLA-BCN-EDI tomorrow, and possibly EDI-BCN-GLA, unless GOTDA comes north in the afternoon from MME.

GSM keepchanging their fleet on their website. One minute it says it has 2 B736 aircraft, the next it has 4.

Still no news yet whether GCDKD at SEN and GCDKT at LPL are being prepared for a return to service.

Anyone able to confirm if these will return to service for the summer?

If all 4 B736 return for the summer then the shorthaul should do ok.

webby1919 20th Apr 2008 20:18

How it currently looks, the BCN will be operated by the B752 Monday.

THe BCN will operate GLA via EDI Tues/Wed as the B752 will operate the SFB flights on those days. This is the way it will operate until the B738 comes back from GMG airline lease.

gflynorw 21st Apr 2008 08:20

G-CDKD is positioning from SEN today

webby1919 21st Apr 2008 08:55

G-CDKD is positioning from SEN to GLA about 6pm. The 2 B736s G-CDRA and CDRB must be going to SAS over next few weeks, with the other 2 B736s coming back into service to replace them.

The B752 isn't operating today. All other shorthaul fleet can cover the flights today.

Toastal 21st Apr 2008 10:45

Fold or not to Fold

Do you think if Gsm have a reasonable summer, they will be around in years to come or is the writing on the wall?

T:suspect:

JB007 21st Apr 2008 11:03

The B752 isn't operating today
This is what I find amazing for a low-cost airline - if indeed they are a low cost business model!

cabot 21st Apr 2008 11:11

Provided they can get their act together and get on top off their delays then i reckon they can pull it off.They do have a strong presence in the cental Scotland belt and have made a profit apart from i think the last one due to a disastrous shambles with the long haul aircraft particularly the 757 going tech on numerous occasions.I have flown with them personally and found the product acceptable including long haul which on a 767 300 was perfectly adequate from GLA- SFB.
All things considered there are no reason why they won't be around in a few years time.The only clouds on the horizon i can see is the intense competition from Easyjet and Ryanair who have racheted up the pressure with several new routes paricularly from EDI.I kind of get the impression from BA that anything above Manchester is not worth fighting for and we seem to be looked on as all taking holidays in butt an bens.
There are several routes out of EDI that are continually overbooked including Continentals New York flights.

webby1919 21st Apr 2008 11:20

B752 is on a pay-per-use contract. That's why this the low utilisation. Sometimes it's best to have the A/C on the ground - FR are planning to keep 20+ A/C on the ground next winter.

cabot 21st Apr 2008 11:37

They must be doing something right and as per their website are offering one way from glasgow to SFB all in for less than £140!

Skipness One Echo 21st Apr 2008 12:00

£140 is a loss making fare, depending how soon you can fly this is good or bad!

kick the tires 21st Apr 2008 15:04

GCDKT is still in the hangar at LPL, minus at least one engine, couldnt see round the hangar doors at the other.

Engineers tell me that it has been in there all winter with no preparation, no heating etc and is being considered a write-off because of all mildew, moisture/seal damage!

Mr @ Spotty M 21st Apr 2008 15:56

I understand it is impounded by the CAA.:sad:

gflynorw 21st Apr 2008 16:09

Poor KT - my favourite a/c! Lets hope they get back in service soon!

JB007 21st Apr 2008 16:57

Engineers tell me that it has been in there all winter with no preparation, no heating etc and is being considered a write-off because of all mildew, moisture/seal damage!
Errr...lets hope not!!!!

scotsunflyer 21st Apr 2008 18:40

If GCDRA/GCDRB are back to SAS, and GCDKT is unable to return then GSM better start hunting for a replacement or they will be in for another tough summer

LES353 21st Apr 2008 21:15

Hows things looking for this weeks Sanford flight, were due to fly out on Thursday

Jet_stream 22nd Apr 2008 00:38

This Thursdays flight is at present scheduled to be operated on the 767 as I am operating on it. And it looks like the 76 is back on the route now for the rest of the summer going by my roster.

Porrohman 22nd Apr 2008 11:37

Airline Acronyms

I searched the web but couldn't find an airline acronym for FlyGlobespan. That seems a little unfair as most airlines appear to have one; http://www.b737.org.uk/airlineabbrevs.htm

So, if;
Dan Air = Dangerous And Nearly Always Incredibly Rough;
and;
SABENA = Such A Bloody Experience Never Again;
and;
Swiss = So What It's Still Swissair;
and;
Delta = Dropping Everybody's Luggage Through Atlanta (that's the polite version);
then does;
G-OTDA = Got Delayed Again;
and does;
FlyGlobespan = Flights Leave You Going Late, Organisation Bad, Ever-Suffering Passengers Annoyed Now?

Or does anyone have a better version?

LES353 22nd Apr 2008 11:56

Hey Jet Stream,

Thats strange GS havent notified us of change of seats outbound as we have pre-booked our seats and they notified us a few weeks ago of seats changes as they have changed our return flight to a 767 from a 757 :hmm:

Porrohman 22nd Apr 2008 19:19

Kick the tires said;
and is being considered a write-off because of all mildew, moisture/seal damage!
That's always a danger when you leave things close to the sea. Were they grey seals or common seals?

Sorry, I'll get my coat.....
