EZY at EMA

Hi folks, been a while for me here :ok:

Just looking at EZY's Summer '08 timetable and noticed that the 'new' BCN route is daily!! The last thing I read regarding the route said that it would be 4x Weekly (Not that I am complaining, mind!) Will be interesting to see how FR react with their GRO route/fares. :E

How are the NB services to CPH, OSL and ARN doing. load wise?

Any news regarding new WW services?

Stu :)

bmibaby.com 2nd Dec 2007 14:59

I think it's because easyJet have realised there's sufficient demand for a BCN service to go daily, especially as the only competition on the route is WW at BHX. Thomsonfly are stopping their CVT service shortly, and although the FR route to GRO technically serves Barcelona, it is really more a convenient airport only for northern Catalonia. When EZY pulled off of EMA-BCN a few years back, it was because we had BA and MyTravelLite at BHX, Thomsonfly at CVT, bmibaby at EMA and FR were just starting GRO. The route should be much healthier now. Isn't the new route being launched by totally axeing CIA?

EMA-CGN has now disappeared from CGN airport's website, although it is still listed in Amadeus.

Any news from the Midlands on that...

egnxema 3rd Dec 2007 08:07

The flight times are spot on for weekend breaks too. 1830 departure from EMA and 2200 from BCN on Sunday eves.

bmibaby.com 3rd Dec 2007 19:49

EMA-CGN has been dropped by easyJet from the end of January, so bmi regional will be stepping in with their own daily lunch-time service from mid February. This is, rumoured to be, the start of some more regional expansion from EMA - possibly resulting in a 2nd based aircraft.

Any news of Ryanair further expanding next summer, or might it finally be time for baby to bring back a.c. number six? Pleased to see NCE back, as we'd all but expected French routes to remain at BHX with the strong Ryanair network here at EMA. Fairly demanding pax though, no worse than a JER, but demanding nonetheless.

Cologne

bmi's CGN service now officially announced starting on 11/02/08 with a daily service, excluding Sundays. The press release also mentions the onward connection possibilities, specifically the LH service to Hamburg - does this suggest a relaxation of LH's attitude towards competitive services to Germany from EMA?

egnxema 4th Dec 2007 15:17

Lowest fare £80 plus tax - bit of a hike from EZY ay!

virginblue 4th Dec 2007 15:20

Well, you cannot seriously expect to fly for 14.99 GBP on a E135....

Given the limited Lufthansa network at CGN, HAM is indeed the only useful conncetion. Anything else (MUC, TXL) requires a three hour stop-over.

Anyway, for those booking under the LH designator (I assume this is possible), Lufthansa nowadays offers "Rail&Fly" for 19 EUR which allows you to travel on any train to any place in Germany after/before your flight. For example, Stuttgart is little over two hous away from Cologne on the high-speed train, Frankfurt just one hour.

egnxema 4th Dec 2007 15:50

LH codeshares are not loaded in CRS systems.

dumdumbrain 5th Dec 2007 20:10

Anybody know what the loads were like on this mornings Ryanair ALC-EMA-ALC?

A very reasonable price IMHO< given there'll be far fewer chavs and a decent level of service

Update to xl programme 2008 now 2 flights to ssh sat/wed tue flight now
to her,

From the forum ref manx2 quoted as thy may start a ema/iom service in 2008 as the size of their aircraft 19 seats that may work with a 1 per day service.
As manx2 operate a iom/glo/jer would you see a iom/ema/gci working two routes that have been used from ema in the past.
the I.T travel trade has demand for sat services to both iom and gci the day most hotels in the resorts sell dates from.

yes lee there where 148 on the outbound thank you for the champagne which was a surprise for being the first to check in it cost more than the seat

DumDumBrain

At EZY we don't allow pax to drink their own alcohol, so we can monitor their intake of alcohol on board. Its quite rare that I see people drinking their own, only once a week say. When I do find them, they aer usually small bottles of wine.
Hope this is what you were after

Are XL basing an aircraft at EMA next summer, or will there still be a mixture of Air Malta / bmi operating their flying programme? Good news to see BCN selling so well from EZY, easier for me to get to Catalunya again - any news on FR potentially starting REU?

SAM-EMA 8th Dec 2007 13:38

I heard that XL are basing a 738 for S08 but that may have changed.

Yes, FR are likely to launch REU but Seville seems more likely at the minute, although REU would be a good route for EMA because we only have charter flights there in the summer.

OliWW 8th Dec 2007 15:16

Yes I would have thought REU would be good because mytravel operate it with a A320, but its a very early departure and a very late arrival for some people, and thomsons flight is in the afternoon on a different day, which is normally a B738.

Ryanair could easily get 3x Weekly in there i would imagen
and atleast 3x weekly for Seville

stuart-travel 8th Dec 2007 15:41

xl baseing 1 aircraft at ema as stated in earlier post only change is the tue flight now is her and not ssh.
The air malta aircraft leaves end of april this may be due to the new contract with malta bargains from may all services operated by air malta,
ema has two air malta on a tue for summer 2008 km5246/47 13.10/14.00
km5178/79 19.10/20.00 plus tcx A320 on a tue a/m.

I believe the 'EMA' Air Malta aircraft will be popping up again this summer in MAN, ostensibly, I guess, to cover some of the flying that FJE and AEU are leaving behind..

So how long do you all think it will be before someone seriously injures themselves on the Airports latest traffic calming measures on the badly designed road that runs past DHL.......

Fine put in some sort of measure, though they do not seem to be that effective.

But paint them black so they cannot be seen well in bad weather or failing light, and not illuminate them either? that's just poor design, just like the road they are on.

Am I just being cynical? or am I just waiting for the first casualty. They look pretty substansive items to, all that shows you they are there in the dark is a tiny reflective arrow that appears to be on the pavement as you come around the bend from the Airport side.

They need illuminating, or is that to much for the budget........

Coming from the track end if someone turning into DHL suddenly decides to stop you now have no way of going around them either....
that one would have been better placed to stop them u turning in the access road and ignoring the signage that tells them to use the roundabout and come back on themselves....... after all they deliberately made the entrance the shape it is to try and counter that....
