Cork Routes

New route announcement expected shortly. Ryanair have gone back to using a Stansted aircraft to operate Cork flights for 2012. This allows for some expansion at Cork if they so wish.

peba 13th Nov 2011 20:14

i am surprised by the number of LPL flights during the summer period, perhaps a MAN flight might be on the cards.
When will the announcement be made?

Jamie2k9 13th Nov 2011 22:11

Ryan2000 by a current airline or a new one?

Also summer schedule is released the same as last year unless its changed before its released which in most cases its not. Would expect STN to be the way its operating this winter.

Charlie Roy 13th Nov 2011 22:23

Indeed there are a lot of gaps now in the schedule of Ryanair's Cork based aircraft for next summer

Monday: ORK - XXX - ORK - LGW - ORK - AGP - ORK (Gap early - 12:40)
Tuesday: ORK - XXX - ORK - LGW - ORK - LPA - ORK (Gap early - 11:25)
Wednesday: ORK - LPL - ORK - LGW - ORK - XXX - ORK - STN - ORK (Gap 15:50 - 18:30)
Thursday: ORK - XXX - ORK - LGW - ORK - STN - ORK (Gap early - 14:00)
Friday: ORK - XXX - ORK - LGW - ORK - AGP - ORK (Gap early - 12:20)
Saturday: ORK - FUE - ORK - XXX - ORK - LGW - ORK (Gap 17:35 - 19:45)
Sunday: ORK - TFS - ORK - LPL - ORK - XXX - ORK (Gap 20:10 - late)

New Route is by Aerlingus and no prizes for guessing where. Much harder to discern what Ryanair are up to.

Jack1985 13th Nov 2011 23:42

PLEASE say Ryan2000 its not another bucket and spade route PLEASE! Also just to point out Charlie Roy the Sunday allocations for the FR based a/c, you forgot to include the late night LGW service which replacates Saturday nights.

ryan2000 14th Nov 2011 03:52

It's not a Sun Route Jack.

CCFAIRPORT 14th Nov 2011 08:47

Normally , 3 summer routes come back each season :

Bordeaux (2 per week)
Carcassonne (3 per week)
La Rochelle (2 per week)

aer lingus 14th Nov 2011 11:13

Go on, put us out of our misery, what's the new EI route?

ryan2000 14th Nov 2011 14:29

Look at the reason posts on this thread and you'll figure it out.

NorthernCounties 14th Nov 2011 14:35

It's gotta be Frankfurt! :suspect:

Copenhagen 14th Nov 2011 15:41

I reckon its CPH!

Wishful thinking, but no doubt it will be Frankfurt. Super boost for inbound tourism!

Jack1985 14th Nov 2011 16:39

Frankfurt will be a great addition looks like it will be a 3x weekly service for the Summer (M-W-F--) and there is of course a Sunday slot EI now have spare which could see it increased for the Winter to 4x weekly.

I reckon its CPH!
If only :hmm: suprised SAS havent looked at the Cork market with a view to CPH, OSL, ARN. They do quite well ex DUB.

840 14th Nov 2011 16:53

All the evidence does point to Frankfurt. I wonder how well it would do without a Lufthansa code share though. We'll have to see I guess.

I wouldn't utterly rule out Zurich or a return to Madrid though.

Jack1985 14th Nov 2011 17:49

Me either, also just to add Cork Airport has recieved interest from a ''number of airlines'' about new routes to;

Frankfurt**
Istanbul
London City
Madrid
New York

** Looks likely to be the new EI route although Madrid is also on that list.

NorthernCounties 14th Nov 2011 18:15

Have FR ever flown to Skavsta from Cork? If yes, what were the lf's like, if not, could it work?

Jack1985 14th Nov 2011 18:27

FR have never done Skavsta, with a 1.8M catchment area im sure a Scandinavian route could work.

brian_dromey 14th Nov 2011 18:58

FRA should do well, even without an LH code on it. Traffic will still be able to interline and sites like Expedia will sell itineraries on LH but with an EI connecting flight.

I think Scandinavia could work and would be a potentially a strong inbound route. SK's CRJ900s could be a good fit - at least to begin with, although that would limit the number of low fares. I doubt we will see a Scandinavian route from Aer Lingus, they are very weak in Scandinavia - they fly to HEL a few times a week, in summer - thats it!
Much more likely to see someone like Norwegian come from Scandinavia than Aer Lingus.

Or they could reschedule one of the Sunday DUB-FRA's to W DUB-FRA-ORK-FRA-DUB...
