I wonder with Bristow ring major share holder they'll look at Easterns poor management and encourage people to stay? Incentives etc

Just a job 12th Feb 2014 20:27

Incentives

Yeah, incentives would be nice one day. For the moment just a 'normal' environment would be nice - stable roster, not having to apologise to pax everyday, more crew, engineers, dispatchers... Hell, more of everybody...
Sometimes you wonder why Bristow want to put their name to this as it stands at the minute. I really, really hope they have a plan.

Most of the small regional companies in the uk seem to have all got rid of the dead wood when new owners arrived and are doing well ( Aer Arann had a big clear out and Flybe ). Fingers crossed this happens you guys too ; )

budlee 21st Feb 2014 08:31

This is not meant in a nasty way at all Fred - but did you REALLY think anything else was going to happen?

Eastern Airways' staff are just another expense (to be minimised)….

mad_jock 21st Feb 2014 11:04

There is a recruitment company phoning round everyone on the books who has J41 mentioned on their CV's.

the opening line is "I am phoning you about a great opportunity in the UK"

Then opens up about a large regional operator.

"er mate that's obviously Eastern"

"Well yes it is."

"Well any UK national with a J41 rating will have worked for them before"

"And the only others will be helitrans and that greek lot"

"yes I am finding that"

"Not having much success then?"

"Not really, one bloke in Newcastle said he would rather gouge his testicle off with a wooden stick and drive a bin lorry for the rest of his life than work for eastern again"

"ok mate thanks for calling"

"not even slightly interested?"

"Nah your OK, have you got any bin lorry driver jobs on the books?"

laughter and "bye"

budlee 21st Feb 2014 13:16

If a recruitment company is phoning people - does this mean that Eastern is trying to recruit, despite being "overcrewed"?

A few months ago, management said that they were completely unconcerned about pilots leaving (to drive bin lorries, obviously).

p.s. A quick look seems to suggest about £8 per hour in the Tyneside area for HGV Class 2 Driver.

has all the talk of Loganair taking over the Shetland contract come to nothing now? If so is it because Bristows now own a chunk of Eastern?

Rumour has it Lakey is 30 million richer now!

I heard another rumour (probably very old now) that Eastern lost the Milan helicopter contract?

I also hear Mr Hertzberg has developed a personality, but surely that cant be true.

He has noticed they have finally got him into a situation from which he can readily be made redundant

Any sign of a competitive response from Eastern against Flybe's 3x daily ABZ-LBA-SOU-JER stopping service ? Alternatively anyone able to come up with a rationale for when it's optimal for Eastern to give some sort of response ?

Airliner world is reporting the closure of Eastern Airways French operation due to the closure of the Dijon base, how many aircraft are based in France and what routes are these surplus aircraft now going to operate?

Night_Watch 5th Aug 2014 21:15
