New, somewhat underwhelming video on their Twitter/X channel:

I started to watch their promo nonsense. The captions were really amusing. When you get stuff like ' One Man and ...' then he has laid himself bare. No one can take any of this seriously. The amount of hype he put in is beyond words.

As I (and others) have said before across the last 35 years, the public have shown what they think of high seat prices. The Biz only carriers failed and remote working happened. Those that can afford to pay full C prices are reducing. Talking to a man from Florida last week, he complained that getting to the UK from Miami was much more expensive than if he was in NYC. But, the round trip to NYC then costs the same - which the airlines planned. He also pointed out that, allowing for exchange rates, it was more expensive for his ticket originating in MIA, then if it was LHR. He used VS. So where are they going to find their pax?

As others have said, when the Global Airlines money is all gone, it won't be his fault.

Yes I did too. Interesting that there is a picture of Eithad cabin and crew at 1:58... I wonder if they know about it!

A lot of the clips in that video are ripped from luxury flight reviews on YouTube, if I were the original creators and they’d been taken without permission I would be rather upset.

I totally understand that from an armchair CEO's perspective without any airline experience, you dream up a concept with "the biggest aircraft" and "plenty of them" just as a fantasy. But then when you start to buy or rent boneyard aircraft and think about it again, some bells should ring, better sooner than later.
I don't get why they continue to go on with all those idle claims and hot air? It might turn to become very expensive sooner than they expected? I hope it is their own money they burn.

I'm trying to be objective but that video is utterly bizarre.

It ranges from David Brent esque (I dead-eyed him and told him 400 widebodies) to the Ace Ventura styled Hawaiian shirts.

I dunno how far they are down the administrative process, even if they've managed to start it yet, but why waste your time at this stage worrying what the internal layout of your aircraft will look like? That's a while off yet. There are bigger and more pressing issues ahead.

Why do they have pictures of other airline’s cabin crew? And a flight deck with two thrust levers? It’s all very strange.

Just for context, 400 aircraft is only marginally smaller than the current operational combined wide bodied fleet of KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia and BA.

It's all very well being ambitious but there comes a point where wild claims starts to hit your credibility. What business plan is he operating under where he sees that as an ultimate goal? Does he see it operating from several European countries?

His entire plan seems at odds with the way other people do it. Yeah, they might not be as glamorous as aviation was once perceived but most of the national airlines, importantly, make a lot of money.

SOPS I think they do that because the person making their videos has no idea what the airline world is like and we (PPRuNe) suspect that the man in charge does not have much of an idea also. Nowadays, many amateurs still have not understood the basics of Copyright. Many of the corporates have learnt this the hard way and had to take things down and/or pay money in restitution.

cavokblues I suspect that the person saying these things believes his own advertising... like some politicians.

paxboy: you remarked 'like some politicians' --- well it seems the UK PM has found time to meet Asquith (allegedly - or is that just Photoshop?)

Flying Hi: Why do you suspect it is Photoshop?

I agree that it is ridiculous that the UK PM - with all the other major issues facing the country - is prepared to waste time meeting a non-existent / soon-to-fail airline. But actually it is consistent with the Tory government's past performance... for example the so-called VIP Lane for PPE contracts during COVID etc.

Global's 'advisory board' has got various OBE's (bestowed by the same government handing out honours to mates and donors) so swinging an invite to No 10 is not too surprising.

And given that Global has managed to locate donors willing to give it money to burn (including the extremely wealthy Stokely OnlyFans porn site family) perhaps Rishi is looking to get some more donations to party coffers before the next election?

It's a fairly standard tactic from Global too - to increase their credibility and perhaps puts some subtle pressure on UK CAA with regards their AOC application.

It’s not photoshop but it’s not hard to get to take a picture in front of that door. It’s recess, most of the MPs are not around. Probably just a meeting with a civil servant or there for an event. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Does he only own one jacket though? He always looks rather unkept.

BA318,

Perhaps he believes the casual, unkempt look worked, and indeed continues to work for Richard Branson whom he believes he can emulate?

I wonder if Asquith's visit to No. 10 was in connection with the longstanding Tory plan to send refugee applicants to Rwanda? Did Asquith offer his airline's services?

Well if they take up that offer it will mean that a plan that probably won’t get off the ground definitely won’t get off the ground.

I think we have been here before. A few years ago the government awarded a multi million pound contract to a ferry company with no ships.
