GrimeySky Whilst not the main topic, I think it is germane to the discussion. When I worked in commerce, I watched as the big boys took on the IBM mantle 'No one got fired for choosing [insert name of big firm]' and then watching them getting caught out.

I am also sceptical of Global but - if they can find a new market and prove us wrong - then jolly good show.

The concept may need refinement, for example Gamer Class may need to return, and then the rest of the plane may need to be taken away just leaving desk and a PC and a copy of Flight Sim.

But apart from that I really can't see what could possibly go wrong.

I dunno if you have a day job..but if you do, hang on to it and dont ever consider a career as a comedian

I see that according to FR 24, 9H-GLOBL is due to fly from Beja (Portugal) to Malta tomorrow, presumably for the legals to be completed.

They may have a slight issue in that the aircraft is still in Mojave with no outbound flight plan filed. Unless of course this is a Flightradar error.

Is it not time this thread is deleted until someone can come along with credible information with regard to the subject matter?

That could be said about a lot of threads here on pprune.

The Manston thread is a perfect example.

A recent thread that should have been immediately deleted was the ridiculous one titled "still stuck in Dubai".

But I'm drifting off

Oh come on. It provides some light relief from the “my airport is better than your airport” drivel on some of the other threads.

exactly! And, after all, we've all dreamt of running our own airline .

It also reminds us just how careful you should be with your hard earned savings - there are a lot of people out there trying to separate you from them.

I am happy for this thread to be light relief. Plenty of serious threads to choose from.

Apparently 9H-GLOBL is making the crossing with it's landing gear down, hence the FL270/235Knt cruise.

That would also explain the indirect routing, as an A380 is more than capable of flying MHV-BYJ under "standard" conditions.

Global Airlines all A380 airline takes a step closer.

Former China Southern A380, 9HGLOBL, registered to hi-fly Malta, currently en route from Montreal to Prestwick. Does this make Global Airlines a distinct possibility now? Personally I never envisaged it ever getting off the ground.

Going back to when I worked for EK, ( over 10 years ago) a vaguely remember something about if the A380 landing gear is not cycled often, it requires expensive maintenance. However, I could be wrong.

I heard it is not MNPS certified.

Following this with interest.

As a Scot, now living in Portugal near Hi Fly's base at Beja, I'm interested, and a little surprised, to see that this Global Airlines aircraft is actually on the move. Hi Fly aircraft are a common sight from my front windows and I enjoyed seeing their own a380 in the coral reef livery passing by. While I have always felt a bit sceptical about the Global Airlines model, I have to say that Sr Mirpuri of Hi Fly knows his business. It will be very interesting to see how this develops! I'm looking forward to seeing 9H-GLOBL flying in and out of Beja.

Fair play for them for having a go. Time will tell but got to be better than just scrapping them.
