They mentioned replacing all the tires. What about hydraulics ?
I'm sure they said they'd replaced the oil. Wonder if they have a HAYNES manual for their A380?
BTW - does anyone know if rheir A380 (if it is) is still mouldering at Tarbes-Lourdes?

Together with Air France, BA became the "accidental" launch customer for Airbus FBW aircraft in 1988, with A320s ordered for BCAL but not delivered until after BA acquired it. Some others here (Chris Scott?) may remember there was a switch behind a panel in the forward galley ceiling that we sometimes had to turn off to de-power the entire flight deck while leaving cabin lights on. Equivalent to the Big Red Switch on an original IBM PC hence "BRS mode". Is that still fitted to current aircraft or is it a bit more sophisticated today?

Emma Henderson. Erstwhile ‘star’ of the alarming easyJet fly on the wall programme. Getting lost on the taxiway at Amsterdam while chatting with her gal pal in the other seat. Now helping set up an A380 operation. Hilarious. You need EK style deep pockets to literally get that off the ground.

I just have thanks. Good grief is my only riposte… The fatuous easyJet doc highlighted several examples of unprofessional behavior and Ms Henderson featured prominently. A desperate need for some kind of fame I suppose. Right up there with Prince Harry in aviation legend world…

So those shoes are going to work well on a slide evac….ok walking through the airport…ok in a 15 year old boys fantasy. Can’t wait to hear about the catering contracts, fast track security, amazing cabin, incredible industry beating salary.

Can't help but notice the lack of gender diversity in the proposed cabin crew......

If this is a genuine recruitment pitch, any job applicant would do well to ask for their EDI policy. This thing looks like it's a rejected storyline from Mad Men,

The best part of an airline named after a round object, is that never dissapoint. Almost every week there is another 'news' item to make one smile.

"Global Airlines adds former A380 chief engineer to advisory board"

(From Flightglobal.com)
From Flightglobal.com. By Dominic Perry 4 March 2024

"Would-be Airbus A380 operator Global Airlines has bolstered its advisory board with the addition of John Roberts, the former chief engineer on the aircraft programme.
Roberts, now an independent aviation advisor, held the chief engineer post on the A380 until 2015 and says he shares the carrier’s “belief in the aircraft’s ongoing potential”.
“I look forward to working with the team, and the wider A380 community, as we plan for the future,” says Roberts.
Global recently returned its first aircraft – a former China Southern Airlines jet (MSN120) – to flight following a period of storage at Mojave airport in California. Now registered as 9H-GLOBL, the Rolls-Royce Trent 900-powered jet will be operated initially by Maltese wet-lease specialist Hi Fly.
While lacking expertise on the operational aspects of the double-decker, Roberts’ experience is seen as key to returning stored aircraft to service.
Kevin Billings, chair of Global’s advisory board, says: “John’s experience, insight and contacts will be invaluable to Global as it enters a period of rapid development following our recent first flight."
“Getting an A380 back in the sky is a monumental achievement and few people will ever realise just how challenging and complex this is to achieve.”

This entire scheme is madness but so was getting a
Man to the moon, proving the earth was not flat etc etc etc. I wish them gods speed and good luck but i would suggest chances of success are in the low single digits of percentages

Furtyer quote from PR Nwswire:

PR Newswire
Fri, March 1, 2024 at 9:00 AM GMT·1 min read
  • John Roberts appointed to the Global Airlines Advisory Board, headed by former US Air Force Assistant Secretary, Kevin Billings OBE.
  • Roberts will offer operational and maintenance advice on the superjumbo to the Global team, as work continues on Global's fleet development.
  • Roberts spent over 40 years in aviation, including 6 years as Airbus UK Chief Engineer for the A380.
LONDON, March 1, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the first flight of 9H-GLOBL from the Mojave Air and Space Port, Global Airlines has added to its roster of A380 operational and maintenance experience with the appointment of John Roberts to its Advisory Board.

In his four decades in aviation, Roberts has worked for Dowty Fuel Systems, Messier-Dowty, but with the majority being spent at Airbus.

Most prominently, Roberts led on the operational introduction of the A380 as well as being a key customer interface for airlines through the challenging period of the aircrafts early in-service life. Commenting on his appointment, Roberts said, "The A380 is the most distinctive aircraft in the sky, and I'm proud to have played a small part in its success since it entered into commercial operation in 2005.

It is still a modern, latest technology aircraft, with two more decades of full-time usage in front of it. It is great to be joining the project following the landmark first flight and I share Global's belief in the aircrafts ongoing potential. I look forward to working with the team, and the wider A380 community, as we plan for the future."

Kevin Billings OBE, Chair of the Advisory Board added, "We are purposefully and intentionally building a pool of aviation experts to our Advisory Board, and it is phenomenal that not only someone of John's calibre is joining, but someone who knows the A380 so intimately.

John's experience, insight and contacts will be invaluable to Global as it enters a period of rapid development following our recent first flight. Getting an A380 back in the sky is a monumental achievement and few people will ever realise just how challenging and complex this is to achieve."

Roberts joins a growing list of Advisory Board members which includes Kevin Billings OBE (Chair), Captain Ian Black, Margaret Dabbs OBE, Pierre Madrange, Claire Harbard, and Bill McPherson.

Roberts is alumni of Brunel University where he graduated in Mechanical Engineering. He is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical society and a chartered engineer."

"We are purposefully and intentionally building a pool of aviation experts to our Advisory Board ...
Personally, I'd have tried to build that pool of experts before I started putting money on the table.

Are there any scholars of English available here to explain how "Roberts is alumni of Brunel University" makes sense?

It doesn't. The correct English would be to say that " Roberts is one of the alumni of" or "Roberts is an alumnus of"

Thank you, and evidence that Global should probably employ a proofreader at some point!!

Minus the two recently unannounced (by Global anyway) departures from the Board of Advisers?
