Lets face it airlines such as Wizz and Tui will not feature DSA in future releases with all this going on so any chance of saving it as an airport will automatically fade.

TUI have just released their winter 2023/24 schedule last week and DSA was included.

The TUI winter release is an exact carbon copy of this years offering
They actually start to tinker around with flights and new destinations later this year and are added in due course
The flights and holidays can be withdrawn at any time as has been proved in the past

The cynic in me says why wouldn't they. It generates cashflow from people booking blissfully unaware that their airport they have booked to fly from my not be an airport by November 2023, and those customers can just be shunted to LBA, MAN or EMA. Of course it is possible, but not probable that the airport may be saved and the flights go ahead as planned.

Me, I wouldn't dream of booking a holiday more than 6 months ahead, especially in the present geopolitical and economic climate. Would I spend money on keep the heating and lights on, and putting food on the table, or on two weeks in Tenerife? Its a no brainer.

See the plan to loop the ECML and build a railway station at the airport have been ‘approved’ by Gvt. I say ‘approved’ as the actual cited document is vague and states further discussion required to establish cost and passenger forecasting. This hasn’t stopped a certain local MP from taking part in a bit of rooftop shouting.

I do wonder whether there has been any approach to appoint an independent consultancy to make an unbiased appraisal of the site as an airport by the local politicians and Mayoral authority. Appreciate these things take time, but surely with the sheer costs in public finding we may be talking about here, due diligence should be applied?

But starting in 2024 by which time the airport could have closed and presumably the build will be cancelled!

Wont connect to the ECML, it will be done from the Lincoln line.. ECML connection was £200m - Lincoln Line £30m..

Cannot see it happening as PEEL are continuing ram it into the ground on a daily basis with their own agenda for warehousing.

The latest update from the Doncaster mayor sounded more hopeful. Unfortunately, your post doesn't sound as optimistic!

Not sure if spreading that type of information really helps the airport right now...

You would be quite wrong, I don't frequent any social media websites.

I know we’ve established that releasing schedules for next year doesn’t mean much but Wizzair (W6) have released a carbon copy of this summer for next. They have reduced their winter schedule by one rotation per week to each destination except for the peak Xmas period.

10 days left for the consultation, i then expect all these flights to be moved to LBA.

W6 have been solid on the Eastern Europe routes for years, if the airport stops open I’m sure they’ll stay - Wizz UK….well they’ve just done to CWL what they did to DSA, who in their right mind would book with them? Social media is full of support for DSA “best airport ever”, “need to get Jet 2” etc but people don’t book with Jet 2 at LBA because it’s the best airport, they book an LBA flight because it’s available with what is perceived as a good reliable IT operator and represents good value. DSA will only survive if there is a good selection of flights/holidays to where people want to go, at decent timings, and a good price. Flights/Holidays are just like any other commodity people buy.
