Easyjet just aren't interested and never will be
Wizz may well have be operating on behalf of Eastwind hence why they are on the departure board.

EDI obviously had the passenger figures as it was operated 2/3 times per day with both BMI baby and Flybe. Was it also the most popular CWL destination prior to Covid ?
Was just saying that EZY have launched 12 domestic U.K. routes today and some are really obscure such as LPL-BOH and thought a EDI-CWL would provide a better passenger yield for them.

My guess would this. easyJet most likely have a volume discount at Bristol, which would work something like, fly x number of pax and you'll get £x rebate per customer. To get the terms they probably have a stretch target. As a consequence opening a competing for from CWL would likely be counter productive. Anything but anyway served from BRS probably not of much interest to them at CWL ...

They have stated to Cardiff Airport that they want their Welsh passengers to travel to Bristol and are not interested in serving Cardiff at all. Repeatedly.

Wizz has cancelled all flights at Cardiff for 2021
Customers have reported flights cancelled on twitter and the airline has replied to some tweets confirming the news

To be honest the signals getting sent out by the Welsh Government would have spooked Wizz into this retreat. It is just as well they own the airport or they would under serious pressure to change a few policies and statements.
Bristol to pick up the slack again, I bet they cannot believe their good fortune in having a grey Greta Thunberg destroying Cardiff Airport.

Bristol Airport is not without its political Greta Thunbergs. Most of the local authorities in the area have now turned their back against the BRS expansion planning appeal, mainly on environmental grounds, as has the local MP and former Conservative government minister Liam Fox who was previously supportive of the airport's growth.

Wizz are like Ryanair, they put the planes where they can lose the least money, or actually hope to make a few Euro for Summer 21. Shower? Pre-Covid nearly every airframe in and out of Luton was mostly full.

Flights between Wales and Scotland resumed today as Loganair began it's 5 weekly Edinburgh to Cardiff service. It's nice to see them back at the airport and I'm looking forward to flying with them in a weeks time.

About time that FR returned to the DUB route…..that flight carried great loads when they used to operate before the “fall out” with some days having 2 flights a day. Let’s hope they increase as time goes on.
I wonder if FR will expand their choice of destinations as they seem to be expanding at other U.K. airports.

FR DUB
Interesting quote from the FR commercial director;
”We have worked closely with Cardiff Airport to deliver this new route, made possible by the necessary incentives to secure connectivity as airlines and airports recover from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Yeah I read that - does this mean there could potentially be more for CWL from FR ?? Would be quite a good move by them if it was in all honesty….would not shock me if the DUB eventually goes daily. Be great to see somewhere like PRG or BUD for winter city break but who knows
