From London, Wizz Air will launch a year-round service from Gatwick to Malaga in Spain and to Dalaman from Luton. This will be the first flight to Turkey operated by Wizz since 2016.

It's really rather rainy in Dalaman from November to February... and the temperature is about 16 deg C. The winter weather is significantly better in Malaga. Even Malaga is beaten easily by the Canaries for winter climate
I'm wondering whether the extra 1h30 of flying to Dalaman instead of Malaga will be able to earn the extra operational cost (e.g. fuel) back in higher fares

Per January CAA figures, Luton returns to third busiest airport in terms of passenger throughput. I know it's meaningless, but the figures are:
LHR 677,356
MAN 126,921
LTN 118,274
STN 104,477
LGW 88,224

Would be interesting to know the number of commercial movements as well. Some days Blue Air & Wizzair do Bacau, is this due to demand or competition?

Air Transport Movements Jan 2021 (CAA)
LHR 10,143
STN 2,319
EMA 2,028
MAN 1,850
LTN 1,775
Not comparable to passenger stats due to the preponderance of freight.

No one needs to, airlines can hand back slots and still retain the historic rights for the IATA summer season 2021. New carriers can apply for slots which they will clearly get but these slots have no historic rights attached.

Passover is next week. It is illegal to travel outside the U.K for holidays until at least May 17th but as we have all seen on TV Orthodox Jews in both Israel and the U.K. are not noted for following the rules. Also there is a requirement to quarantine and to book a two stage test on return before departure.

Spanish Eyes....sitting between those check in desks you will no doubt already know that it is not illegal for British passport holders with non uk residence to travel to their own country of residence. I know of numerous folks who fit this requirement and travel from TFS - LTN - TFS, most recently to get their covid jab.

Who said anything about holidays? Some people need to travel for other reasons. The WZZ flights were up there briefly but now seem to have disappeared until 18/5.
As ericlday says, I also know people flying the Lanzarote & Grand Canarias sectors inbound who have British passports and are returning to get the jab. Couldn't tell you how that works as don't you have to be invited by your UK GP?
