How do you satisfy Branson's return on his shareholding if you don't want to pay him a licence fee for using the Virgin brand?
Pre-pack administration into a new airline that doesn't use the Virgin brand - or does for a £1 fee etc.?
Either way Branson's investment is now worthless and he may not receive anything in the future for the use of a Virgin name. I'm not sure why he would bother.

Does the Virgin 'brand' still have the same appeal as it first did is another question? When Virgin launched it was something special, now, it is just another airline as far as I am concerned.
No axe to grind, their success or failure is immaterial to me and my feelings about RB are neutral. Obviously if they do fail I feel sorry for all the staff, but, at the risk of being slaughtered here if you want job security the airline business isn't really for you is it?

Is the VS royalty really the difference between the airline being profitable or not ? If it were wouldn’t SRB give them a break ? I would suggest it is more structural(by definition managed) not right size, shape and cost base if you cannot make money at the top or near to pay of the economic cycle.

Same, for example, on BA's domestics out of Heathrow. These have published accounts showing a loss for decades. Really, eating up all those valuable slots ? Well yes, if a BA fare of say £500 from Edinburgh to New York, via Heathrow, is allocated £1 to the domestic sector and £499 to the transatlantic, so possibly half the planeload is being carried for free. Why divide it this way? Well, the UK government is regularly lobbied to put VAT on domestic flights. Overall international VAT rules prevent doing it on internationals, but a few European countries do it on domestics. However, if the flights are shown anyway as loss-making that strengthens the case of saying do that and the service will be withdrawn, and the government will get the blame.

End of leases apparently going to do the engine swaps paperwork reconciling and such with all aircraft in same location, before going off to rest in the sand .
Why Manchester and not their big hanger at Gatwick well I don’t know - Could it be they intend to close that and terminate the lease and rent payments perhaps ?
