An interesting route, being the closest to San Marino. They rely on tourism for some of their GDP, so bringing London a lot closer is a pretty good shout, IMHO

Ryanair used to serve Stansted to Rimini and it was one of their original Italian routes but the airline fell out with the airport operator and moved their flights to Forli before being dropped altogether.
During the 1960's and 1970's Rimini was once a very popular inclusive tour destination from the United Kingdom.

New based B737 for the new Primera routes. BHX got Palma and Malaga, so, one could expect PMI at STN (2 short routes isn't going to tax the B737) and BHX likely to get ALC too.

Primera latest news above fits with the statement contained with their original transatlantic announcement that they would hope to build a short/medium network around the new bases.

Primera Air have extensive knowledge & experience of the Northern Europe "sun market".
This latest announcement has been in the planning some time & will no doubt be helped in STN`s case now by some lack of capacity over to the West.
Hopefully more eventually to come to those politically safe areas & destinations which again Primera Air have experience of.

I wasn't particularly thinking of any particular airline, it is just that there are not enough customers to go around and make a profit. Unfortunately I have seen it many times over a number of years and cannot see it stopping. As I have said a number of times there is also a finite number of passengers who want and can afford to fly plus there is the dreaded 'B' word lurking over the horizon.

And the latest economic forecasts suggest that there must be a slackening in demand. After all Greybull shut down Monarch because they could see that prospects for S18 were awful.

Hopefully passengers traveling on the ALC flights will notice the longhaul flights and might make them think of booking or at least look at the prices on offer the ALC passengers will be bag dropping at the same time as longhaul flights if you think about it that could be 189 people each day noticing the longhaul destinations on the check in desks.
I’m sure the ALC and AGP passengers will also be made aware of the longhaul destinations whilst in the air hopefully they will add destination stickers to the overhead bins just like Jet2 if not it’s a big opportunity missed.

I`m sure there is aways to go yet with determining the London-Med market from 2018 onward with multiple factors in play,for instance..
NAX capacity drawdown at LGW...MON capacity void both at LGW/LTN...
A lot of evidence EXS has made a market at STN with their particular model.
Smaller scale,EZY at SEN are finding the £££ spinners are their sun routes.
WZZ stating they will not be using any gained slots at LTN for Med flights.
NAX mentioned in the LTN threads from time to time as "considering" ops there,but no take up.
BAW taken up some capacity for sun routes from STN in the guise of BACF.
RYR announce for instance a return to STN-RMI albeit 2 weekly just this week.
Primera Air possibly working strategically too by blocking the North London/Cambridge
market from their Scandi competitor or just purely marking North of the River & onwards to the Midlands with BHX as their own nominal territory.
As mentioned above marketing spin coupled with the trans atlantics will be smart too.
Interesting times anyway.
