Crikey those junctions look interesting if there are no longer roundabouts at the Holiday Inn and the new road.

183 documents in the application. The outline planning application for a business park could well be a smoke screen to get the road built for a terminal 2.

Never a real one at LTN I suspect.

When a young chap I remember CCCP-42456 landing at STN.That was 14.4.66!!

The Aeroflot TU104 that operated into LGW on Saturdays in the `60s trailed an orange braking parachute down the runway on touch down!...

Yes,reported the expansion plans were due to be debated by MP`s this week at Westminster.

Pointed out when the plans/aspirations were published a few weeks ago that this would not be a simple process. The last approved expansion was a "fudge" between local councils & Government Ministers, this new mooted plan has much wider repercussions & will require to be long fought.

It took STN many years/decades to reach permission for 35m pax p.a. even with Governmental on/off cognizance & LTN will be no different in the process.

Still not convinced this is a true reflection of the operators & owners ultimate ambition rather than a scoping/holding position in the grand game.

In the meantime that airport put in an application for a business park which is the natural location for airport expansion. If it doesn't go on Wigmore Park then where do an extra 18 million passengers go?

After reading the Commons debate transcripts up to 10M extra passengers does not require Government involvement, so 27M could be achieved with only local debate.

I imagine most major airports in the UK will also have negative figures for December.

Looking at the figures for the former Monarch service to Gibraltar, they were carrying an average of 5,000 pax a month or 60,000 a year at LTN. That is a significant figure, so hope that route is reinstated asap.

I passed through LTN yesterday morning at Wizz o'clock there were signs that the ugly duckling of an airport might be turning into a swan.

to be fair it was clearly a day of low loads but the bomb site of a short stay car park has closed and there is the multi story, a "real" short stay car park, which is a great improvement. It has to be said though the corridors from the car park to the terminal are dangerously slippy and I am surprised a claims management company does not have some one touting for business there. In the terminal some of the hoardings have gone and there is proper branding, security was a five minute affair. The departure lounge was busy but not over crowded and on arrival back in the evening there was no queue for immigration and I was back in the car park 25 minutes after touch down

Now is a good time to travel when the airport is operating below capacity and before work starts all over again in the CTA.

The second multistory which is beginning soon will be linked to the other side of the ring road by a subway so I would imagine work on diverting the ring road will start soon before it is put back to allow for the tunnel to be put in.

The minimum charge for the multistory is now £8 for 30 minutes. While the airport could be considered to be low cost the same can't be said for its parking.

I see the mid-term car park is now only free for 15 minutes, £3 for 30 min.

Interesting that two of the very earliest international routes to be introduced by easyJet remain the most popular after all these years. I appreciate that both AMS and BCN are now served by Vueling too but those two routes have certainly stood the test of time.

I think easyJet need to start increasing frequecy on existing routes instead of introducing new ones, some routes are in need of more frequencies or more attractive flight times. City destinations like Madrid are seeing departure times of 1pm from Luton daily, which isn’t good timing for business travellers during the week. Same for Munich no early departures just a daily flight at 6pm everyday. Also, routes like Porto have shown demand is there during the summer season with 9,000-10,000 passengers per month with Monarch & easyJet operating, but Monarch has ceased and now Porto is 4 weekly with easyJet in S18, which could support a daily flight, they will just lose passengers through other airlines and airports.

It may be they just can't get the a/c availability or slot availability. Since business travel does make up a significant chunk it would make sense.

I'd imagine the new Berlin operations would be their focus for now, so not likely in the short/medium term?
