Isle of Man remains at the current higher schedule of 4 per day, whilst Edinburgh remains in the schedule at daily.

Flybe is weighing up plans to challenge British Airways’ monopoly on domestic flights from Heathrow. According to this article in today's Sunday Times.

No alliance, could get random terminal, not great aircraft size availability, poor reliability in the industry, possibly cherry pick Edinburgh only... mmm interesting. Though theyve bumped up LCY domestic a fair bit when some said that wouldnt last.

They still have some Emb195 frames perfectly acceptable for Edinburgh and Aberdeen , remember Manchester wasn't part of the remedial deal.
Virgin rarely got stratospheric loads with the Aer Lingus 320 did they !
They could also do Nice at a pinch under remedial slot rules - Its undeserved from Heathrow and could well carry the AF codeshare (Flybe code across all their French flights today) as bmi did for many years
Reliability is rather better than some think.

Cornishsimon, Can you explain in what way ?
These are guaranteed slots free of exorbitant charges and for specific routes.
The Emb195 has 118/119 seats in Flybe config and weight wise cheaper than a 319 even at Heathrow rates so will probably work well to/from Edinburgh/Aberdeen.
Lets just update/remind ourselves the routes that can operated with these slots.
Aberdeen/Edinburgh/Nice/Moscow/Cairo and Riyadh for a number of consecutive seasons - Not completed by Virgin !
Then any additional EU city.

At 5 grand a day lease cost the 195 is way more expensive than a 319. I don't think the slightly lower landing fee (if it actually is) would make much difference.

At best talk of Flybe challenging BA is PR stunt. What sort of strategy would they follow on these routes? What is their point of difference?
LHR is expensive so competing on point to point, they are on the back for already competing on a London basis. Bmi failed and progressively moved away from domestics in favour of medium haul.
50% of LHR pax to Scotland are connecting, and many more making their own connections. Aberdeen is in decline. So leaves Edinburgh. These are by far the longest domestic sectors, so I cannot see anything fruitful for Flybe here given the competitive set...

Interestingly the 195 costs £5,685 less in Noise charges than the 319 the departure levies are similar and obviously passenger charges are similar per pax.
NOx is £8.82 per kg that will also be lower on the 195 so overall - Yes the 195 is cheaper.
We don't know what rates Flybe actually pay for leases do we or do you know different ?
Cost base of Flybe is certainly lower than BA and i suspect even their Mix fleet crews.

The lease cost for the 195 was circa £180,000/month so actually closer to 6k a day. I've heard that a 319 is something like £120,000/month which may well be a generic figure and obviously dependant on individual airline deals.
That's a fairly big difference to make up with a smaller, albeit, slightly more efficient aircraft.
