Interesting that they have adjusted their fleet plans, and are now taking 9 fewer Republic Dash 8s, and have deferred the remaining 4 E175 deliveries by another year to early 2019. Current planning appears to be to let the E195s go when their leases expire in 2018-2020, which will mean that the overall Emb/Dash fleet will 5 fewer than in 2017 (though 5 more than now).

E195s to go when their leases are up ? They've tried that before ! But, I suppose, what else can they plan for ?

Does the press release really say that? My understanding is that they swapped lease obligations for 9 for ownership of 10 previously leased examples. It gives them more flexibility, but it does not really rule out that they will lease all or some of those 9 examples that NAC will take on as a replacement of the 10 sold to Flybe.

Slide 45 in their results presentation shows the planned fleet numbers: Flybe 2016 results presentation Earlier slides also give a bit more detail about the Dash 8s - slide 19 specifically says that 9 of the committed Republic leases have been cancelled. They seem to be purchasing some of the Republic machines that they previously committed to leasing, but that doesn't appear to include the cancelled 9.

They haven't tried that before because the leases were never up. The Ejet 95's tried to be offloaded "before" the leases were up and that was the problem. Once the leases expire then Flybe can offload them with no further outstanding obligations.

As for painting in retro colours, I'd rather they just concentrated on making money than paint aircraft in pointless colour schemes.

I stand corrected. Thank you. Although, I thought that some of the leases had expired. Maybe not. Although, at least they should be able to wave goodbye to them, finally !

I think most people who have seen the purple paint jobs would agree with you.

Planes have to be repainted every so often and to be honest the old scheme looks a little
bland and the whole idea of a paint scheme is to be seen and distinct

I wonder if the DSA base will end when the leases are up?

I don't know how the DSA routes have been performing, but from loads alone which is not a good indicator really but all we have to go of, the CWL routes are really picking up ! So who knows what will happen when the leases expire. The E195's are to be rid of by 2017/18 by the looks of things.

Also, i think the purple scheme is excellent ! A lot better than the bland old sh*t BE used to put on their aircraft.

Yep I like the purple too - it stands out but is not too garish IMHO.

Also like the interior purple mood-lighting - this was in evidence in a Q400 I flew in last week, although the exterior was still non-purple.

I think the Purple looks good, stands out amongst the usual bland euro-white liveries airlines go with these days.

I was wrong about the FlyBe shirt sponsorship of Sheff U. The announcement was held at DSA, but the sponsor is Sheffield-based hotel website Alpha Rooms

I am due to use Flybe next week from Gatwick to Newquay and back the following week. I have allowed 3-4 hours between my inbound and return flights to and from Gatwick to Malaga, thinking this would be enough. I have just checked Flightradar and they show the Newquay flights are more or less always late sometimes over 2 hours. I thought upgrading to the E195 was supposed to improve the service?? Does anyone at Flybe care?

The short answer to that is NO, all they are interested in is your money

Surprised you have not thought of flying Malaga-Exeter direct with Flybe instead of the hassle of going through Gatwick!
