Would the A359 ULR have the legs for SIN-IAH direct? I only ask because there's a thread running on another site quoting their CEO stating they want rid of their one stoppers as the ULRs are delivered.

Of course if MAN originating PAX make up as high a % of the load as stated on this thread, cutting it wouldn't seem likely.

Particularly since the shortest route means flying East rather than West.

SQ love their one stoppers.

I suspect this is in the context of SFO, LAX and New York. I think they will try to remove the one stop routes to LAX/SFO, whether they continue JFK when non stop EWR returns I'm not sure.

IAH? Having stuck with it after dropping the Moscow stop off, id not expect it to drop - SQ seem reasonably pleased with what's going on, which is superficially bore out by the numbers.

So you reckon that visitor numbers to Europe aren't affected by the now weekly terrorist incidents, but numbers to the USA are affected because of who's president?

Sums up the ignorance of today's society, and why these 'incidents' continue to be allowed to happen. Oh well, less idiots visiting the USA means the rest of us can enjoy the country in peace.
Yeah whatever. Take it to Jet Blast. There's a bunch of like minded idiots over there who'll welcome you with open arms.

Jog on.

Noticed a US registered MD11F dropping into DSA the other day and found out it's a weekly Nairobi freight flight. Surprising how much heavy cargo now seems to choose DSA over MAN.

This morning Airport City pushing out this celebratory tweet https://twitter.com/AirportCityUK/st...27901910556672

Logistics this, logistics that, but if the airport are possibly turning away freight traffic (not the under belly stuff) then how it's supposed to be a viable business model?

Yes - I have thought for some time that the whole Airport City thing is a case of 'over-promise / under deliver'.

It seems that those who had the ambition to have a logistics centre at 'Airport City' have forgotten that their USP is the proximity to the freight part of the airport. The forthcoming terminal development is going to constrain the ability of the aprons to handle any dedicated freighters.
This obvious oversight is going to make potential investors nervous about signing up space - unless they are only interested in the proximity to the motorway, in which case they are better off in Warrington.

MAG own the country's two main freighter only airports at EMA and STN; MAN itself seems to have slipped way down the list of priorities in terms of freight. Recent increases are down to under-belly on the raft of new long haul flights.

Also, whatever happened to the office and hotel that was 'about to start on site' last year on the M56 slip road behind the station?

Most cargo these days is underbelly, and with the number of routes serving MAN from non EU airports with wide bodied aircraft offering considerable cargo capacity the logistics business should be strong without all cargo ops. look at LHR and LGW. Add to that the additional admin and potentially warehousing space for clearance of European business post Brexit I would suggest this may not be as much spin as suggested.

The number of older planes being converted into freighters suggests that not all is coming under the belly. But certainly the need for warehousing etc will mean that it will concentrate of sites with plenty of space, such as EMA and DSA. And DSA has a very long runway.

There's a constant turnover of older metal being replaced by younger, more efficient equipment. Much of the all-cargo fleet in the developed world is being operated by or on behalf of the major integrators, such as DHL, Fedex and UPS who will also tend towards using less busy airports, where night operations aren't so restricted, so will use the likes of EMA, Leipzig, Liege and the like for their principal hubs as they need their flight coming and going in waves - look at the schedule for EMA if you need evidence of that!

A lot of the all cargo flight coming to UK tend to be for vehicle manufacturers suffering production line stops, hence the amount of freighters coming in and out of BHX, often carrying very little in terms of weight or volume.

Good to see my old stopping ground so apoplectic about under investment in infastructure which looks 3rd world compared to some countries I've been to ( and indeed compared to eye watering levels of investment in numerous lines, stations and rolling stock across London).

Not sure how appalling you poor lambs realise your infastructure actually is.

Sky do !
IT'S their headline today.

The London centric BBC TV havn't really discovered it's a "thing" yet.

http://news.sky.com/story/northern-leaders-demand-fair-deal-from-government-on-transport-11000795

I'm amazed however MAG don't seem as vocal given that by accident they are geographically at the epicentre/hub of The North.

Ps by response Ayling has indicated "it's not the job of central government to fund transport solutions in The North"

Which all well and good, but begs the question "why is it the case that it clearly is the job of central government to fund transport solutions in London?"

Answer, is that outside London and the Southeast we are all second class citizens, good only for second class infrastructure, second class jobs and second class prosperity.

A tweet from Granada Tv today: "Official TfGM stats shown exclusively to us show rail journey times in the north have barely changed since 1962. Chester-Manc is slower".You only have to spend a day in London and return to Manchester to see how poor transport is. I see another local bus is to be chopped soon from the Airport network (18), Apart from buses to Wythenshawe, hardly any left now.The Airport doesn't view this as a problem, when they keep pushing the car parking cash cow- even though they have nowhere left to park cars other than operational taxiways.

Thats not the quote I've seen (taken from the FT):

“It is central government’s responsibility to provide funding and a delivery structure that ensures efficiency, value for money and accountability. But, beyond this, I want the North to take control.”

Clearly pressure needs to be exerted to force ministers to heel on this. A Yorkshire wide devolution deal would be a powerful voice in this together with the mayors of GM and Liverpool.

Ayling has indicated "it's not the job of central government to fund transport solutions in The North" breathtaking !!!

It was in his response to scathing criticism from the Yorkshire Post.

And it's EXACTLY the quote that
5Live put to the leader of Sheffield council at 730am 23RD AUG.

She responded

"we do take responsibility" adding somewhat critically"

"... we have had no money"

Whether its policy on rail road infastructure for connectivity at Manchester, Leeds or Liverpool the man is clearly a buffoon and not fit for office.

Dobbo_Dobbo, Yorkshire coming together to sort out a devolution deal. The end might be in site but how long has it took to get this far already?
This due the idiots at Labour run Leeds City Council whom want it all centered around them.
